Just came across your channel today in November. I live in Veneta just outside Eugene so seeing you cruising through the country makes me want to endure the rain and wind today and go for a ride. Nice documentation of your trip 🚴♂️😎
This was a great watch. I am sorry for your loss. When the time is right for you I hope you will return and give us more of your fine, fun and very different videos. They are heart-warming and uplifting. All the best to you and your fellow tourers.
Stumbled across your Divide videos. I watched all 5 and hope you do another biking adventure. Your very talented and kept my attention by your personality, content and editing. So sorry for the lose of your mother in law. Mike in Alabama Proverb 3:5-6
Thanks for watching and for the kind words, Mike! I enjoyed the ride and putting the videos together. I did another section of the route this year and will be going over the footage in the next few weeks. Ron
Great series, hate you had to end a bit soon, however life and death are not respecters. Nice humor and good to see gentlemen of my vintage making it happen.
A nice version of the GDMBR - saw quite a few things I haven't on other channels. Your attitude and humor served you well. Thanks for sharing your trip and showing us what an awesomely beautiful place North America can be. I look forward to seeing your videos of the next leg of the trail!
Your videos are great! I was on the divide last yr too. I ran into the guy with the dog in Ovando. Must have been nice meeting Lael I wish my videos were as good as yours but I did them at night in the tent when I was tired and fear from the bears (which I never saw)
Thanks for watching. It was an awesome trip, and meeting Lael was so great. I'll check out your vids, I'm going back this year and love watching GDMBR stuff!
Great series Ron, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. So sorry to hear about your in-law's passing. On another note it must have been amazing to meet Leal Wilcox, a true cycling legend. Bob...
Thanks for watching!! We're sad for the kids, but grateful the ordeal for her is over. Also, it was great meeting Lael and Rue. They were friendly and gracious. And this was like 2 weeks after Lael finished the race! She's amazing.
Hahaha! It wouldn't be much of a name drop, but it's nice of you to say. I hope to meet up with you this summer out there. Are you going SOBO? I'm starting in Whitefish sobo. You'll probably fly past me.
I'm going southbound starting in Jasper in late June hopefully all the way to Antelope Wells. I will have just turned 63 years old by then and while I feel like I'm in good shape I don't think I'll be doing any flying. I just want to enjoy the experience however long it takes. I hope you have as good a time in the second half of your journey as you seem to have in the first half.
Another great video Ron. As someone else already mentioned, you do a really nice job video editing. I'll look forward to following your adventures in 2024.
Are you from Salem? As that is where I live I really enjoyed these videos. You have inspired me give it a try also. I was thinking about starting in Whitefish myself and try it for a week. Good luck this year.
If you had to do it again, do you feel like you left in the best weather window if you were to continue your journey south? Also, when you were planning your ride, did you think about going south to north instead? Just curious.
I got so lucky with weather. Rain one day for a few minutes, a couple of times at night, and it got hot, but nothing too bad. August and Ellie ran into some heat and a few thunderstorms as they continued to Antelope Wells, but nothing too bad. I did consider South to North, and thought about doing that this year in 2024, but ended up deciding on Southbound, for no apparent reason.
Hi ! I’m doing this starting June 25 out of Banff. Thank you for posting your videos. How did you like the 5-10 shoes for this? I was wondering if with all the hike a bike I should wear (very) lightweight hiking shoes. They stick to the flats ok. Thanks again!
Hey, thanks for watching. I the 5-10s a lot. They were great for pedalling and fine for hike a bike. But, lightweight hikers would certainly be better for pushing if you have a pair you like. Good luck on your trip! I'm leaving June 24 from Whitefish so you'll probably catch up.
Another great one! Love watching these, they make my time on the trainer bearable while I wait for the snow and salt to wash away 😅
Thanks!
Really glad your adventure came up in my feed. Condolences to your family.
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the videos.

Thanks for watching! It's hard for me to get motivated to ride this time of year. I get out occasionally but usually default to the bike trainer.

Thanks for watching. I'm currently back on the trail, just rolled into Boulder. The hills haven't gotten any smaller.

That Dance!!!! Awesome. Do i see a generator hub on the LHT?
We worked on that dance for months, as you can tell!
Yes that's a SP dynamo powering a Bush Muller headlight.

Thanks for watching! I'm in Silverton, so not too far from Salem. You should do it!
