Amani Utupe Na Ustawi

Welcome to Danielle & Laura's music room! Today we will sing a song called "Amani Utupe Na Ustawi" with lyrics in English and Swahili. The composer is an African American music teacher named Patsy Ford Simms, and she was inspired to write "Amani Utupe" by her friends from Kenya. "Amani utupe na ustawi" means Give Us Peace and Well-Being in the Swahili language. The message of the song is that we can find the peace and courage to keep trying even when we're unsure of ourselves. We can keep marching down the weary road with our heavy load, even when the road is rocky, the way is dark, and even when we find a fork in the road. We can keep going! And for that, we say, "Hallelujah!"
