The MG4 he's driving is electric so that's not an issue for over 12 months and who knows, maybe the rates are better in central London than in Manchester/Liverpool. Personally I'm more concerned that these apps mean you are responsible for fuel, insurance, running repairs, vehicle wear and tear and ultimate replacement. Where is your sick pay, pension contributions and holiday pay coming from? Maybe it would suit someone to make a little extra money as a top up with the flexibility just logging on when it suits allows but I certainly wouldn't consider it a living, not when you factor all of the above in. I would doubt it comes close to minimum wage. What would it actually cost these firms if they actually had to employ their drivers and provide a vehicle?

£145 for 5 hours of work isn’t bad. £4 for fuel (in your case electric so a bit cheaper) £3 for delivery insurance for the day £15 to out aside for the car (general use like tyres, mileage, service for the car etc. Roughly £24 per hour, do that every day and it’s £600 per week for 25 hours of work excluding driving to the premier shops, to and from home and breaks.
