Is this Federal 4K income tax credit benefit going to be available if I can't purchase the car until 2024? or do I have to buy the car before the 2023 year ends?
I a filing jointly and under 150000 . Can i buy 2 used ev s one on my name and one on my wife's name and get a 4000 +4000 tax rebate.. assuming no other eligibility issues?
OK Flolou; how does an EV make the nation more efficient? I usuallly get some "typical ICE vehicle' strawman - lets compare to a Prius or a Elantra. How does a $40,000, 4500 lb car make the USA more efficent? If the vehich is a model Y; US grid break down is Fossil fuel 60%, nuclear 18%, wind 10%, hydro 6%, solar 3%. So at most you have 40% non fossil fuel but a 15% loss over all due to transmission lines and charging at best a 25% non fossil fuel benefit; but the car weighs 25% more so it takes more energy to move. pretty much a wash. If the US was like China and imported most of its fossil fuels; I could see how it might be better off; but we aren't.
I’m in the process of setting up solar panels on my shed that will cover 80 percent of my car’s fuel needs. It may have been a wash 5-10 years ago, but solar production is growing every year.
@@triforcelink 10 solar panels dedicated a Tesla Model 3 gives a range of15-20 miles; You'll only get that range in a very sunny area like Phoenix or LA. If you live in northern area the range will be shorter. If retired you may be able to charge directly; but if you work and commute you'll need an expensive battery. It sounds like you will do it yourself; but a professional doing solar and batteries will be $20,000 give or take. Solar production isn't growning year to year it is declining Our World in Data says total is 2% of world production. Now that installations are sizable its hard to do more.

Yes Sicsemper poor people pay income tax; and you don't have to be poor not to be able to buy a new $40,000 vehicle. I am only reducing the amount being stolen from me by having the government steal more from those that can't afford a new car and now I'll help them not be able to make ends meet with this sort of subsidy. This isnt a cheap subsidy in my state its $8000 so your talking taking $1000 from eight familes of lesser income. I don't find that very reasonable. I sure wouldn't want to be one of them.
Subsidies are theft - Convince me otherwise and I'll go buy a Model 3. In my state I can get a $10,000 subsidy. Poorer families that cant afford a new car will be taxed to give me the $10,000 as an incentive to buy an EV. Anyone can tell me why this is justifed and I'll buy one - so anyone out there believe its justfied? Tell me why. Convince me - convince anyone here.
Poor people don’t generally pay any net taxes. If you are coming at this from the perspective that taxation is theft, as long as you would pay at least the credit amount in taxes, you are simply reducing how much is being stolen from you.
From a macro perspective in the long run EV adoption makes a society and a nation's economy more efficient , which trickles up and down to the benefit of everyone,
Very helpful! Could yall go through the Commercial Clean Vehicle Credit next?
Helpful. We just bought a 2012 Chevy Volt and the dealer didn't know anything and has to check with their accountant
What are the eligible used PHEV vehicles when purchased in 2024!
It must not have already been transferred after August 16, 2022, to a qualified buyer. is this corrected? like what your talking about 7 min in
Can I only buy a used eligible vehicle from a dealer and not a private party?
If the dealers do not complete the proper paperwork and submit it to the IRS then your buyers claim for the credit will be denied.
Hi What does the dealer needs to do. I’m going to buy an ev and would like to know
@@miguelvelasquez8547I am in the same boat and sadly my dealer didn’t even know about a new Ev rebate program! 😩
I was able to claim a tax credit on a used plug in 3 years ago. I think it was my state tax instead of federal.
Is this Federal 4K income tax credit benefit going to be available if I can't purchase the car until 2024? or do I have to buy the car before the 2023 year ends?
i bought from private party i am third owner. Will i get credit?
If the car is listed under 25k but by adding an extended warranty it goes over 25k, would I still qualify for the tax credit?
I think it’ll only count for the selling tag and not the additions.
This is correct! Will still count for the tax credit, it is listed price of the used EV, so adding the extended warranty won’t impact you

I bought an electric smart car in 2021 the car is a 2017 am I able to claim the tax credit

Does the max sale price requirement include taxes, fees, etc...
Did you find the answer to this?
It does not include taxes, fees, etc. the *listed* price of the used EV must be under $25k
