Achtung! Anyone interested in this fantastic game, please watch this video! It is very nicely done and very user friendly. Very impressive narration without the silly voices of other reviewers' videos on this game. I highly recommend this presentation. Well done!
Great video. Well done. I hope I can get my 68 year old head around the rules when my copy is delivered tomorrow. I have never been a fan of earlier GMT rule books as they have always made them text heavy. This does look quite interesting.....almost a dog fight management sim. Again, thank you for a great play through. Any advice on how I should start learning the rules? I would like to know how you learnt it.
Hello Mr Dice! Well…, my 67 year old head managed it okay…, so hope does indeed spring eternal! Actually, this game is different than most others, as the rules are organized to lead you through play (almost) from the minute you open the box. Just be careful that you correctly apply the stickers to the right cubes and you should be in the air defending the Fatherland in no time. For most games: 1) read the rules, skim the scenario book, and designers notes, 2) pick a scenario and struggle through it, making all kinds of mistakes, and 3) re-read the rules and discover all the stuff I did wrong. At this point I am usually competent to play and even shoot a video for you guys. Enjoy. - Paul
Hi WW2! It’s not hard at all; it’s extremely procedural, and the whole rule book is designed to lead you through playing the game. If you saw my 1st video, recall that the rule book comes out and says that you don’t need to read the rules before playing! While I’d suggest skimming them, yes after a mission or two you will have it. - Paul
I just got a copy of this game and this video has been useful.. taking a look at decision points, I feel this game is very lacking in them.. basically your decisions are sides, altitude , pass through path and then application of of advantage tokens. The rest of it is number generation
Hi Jay. Yes, that is my problem with narrative games. If I want to see a movie…, I turn on Netflix. But still, this one is a somewhat better than most and I confess to having fun with it. But it’s still hard to be the bad guys. - P
Hello Vortyx. Better fact-check. Italy did not surrender until after the Salerno invasion in September 1943. I think the game designer got this one right. - Paul
Are any of these bomber missions over Italy? Never heard of any Italian fighters attached to German home defense. Not saying that it never took place, but...
OK Paul I'll Bend to your good offices....Sidebar, could Italy afford to send her best fighters to Germany whilst being rogered by the Allies in Sicily?
If I were in somebody's air force back in the day, I think I'd go for a rotary engine over an inline any day. I don't like the idea of a single bullet to the cooling system bringing down the aircraft. A Corsair or an F6F come to mind. Maybe not a P47 -- little too close to a flying truck. -- Paul
@@theoakenknight1748 actually the P47D was an excellent plane they wouldn't dogfight the smaller nimbler German fighters but they would Zoom and Boom as it were...also the P47D carried 8 .50 cal. instead of 6 like the P51...

Hi Ed! Wow, what a wonderful endorsement! Thank you so much for the kind words. More video coming…, so stay tuned! 📺. - Paul
'Silly voices'...That made me chuckle. There's two I can think of straightaway! 🙂
Amazing camera work and explanation, thank you so much, best tutorial of this game in YT!
Why thank you Fabian! Kind words keep me going. - Paul
Excellent tutorial/playthrough! I love this game!
Thank you Mr P! I always appreciate kind words. Take care…, Paul

wow, so many rules. How long did it take to learn to play fluently? Seems worth it, because it seems really fun!

How can you use Maachi 202 fighters when Italy is out of the war by that time?

Early 43. Planes either flying from North Africa or Sicily. Salerno happened Sept 43...... I think.
Poor Oaken...he showed us a video of an air war game and we all went off on a debate about the Maachi 202....hahaha..C'est La Vie
C’est la Guerre, say no more….
Wait until the escorts turn up.
Yeah, that would make it harder. I usually try to avoid them by bugging out when they show up (when possible). Your mileage may vary. - Paul

I’m guessing that this represents bombing in Italy in early 43. But it’s all pretty abstract so you can spin it a number of ways. Enjoy! - Paul

Hey Mr Buff! Please excuse my Rotte(n) pronunskiation. 🙄. - Paul
Hey, am I supposed to say "first" or something?
