    After the episode was over, I couldn't help like Carol played everyone, including the Hoarder's staff. Her step children were ready to dump her at the beginning of the episode. But then she played the victim the entire episode, acted like her hoarding was a symptom of guilt and not of selfishness, only listened to the family member that was the furthest from the situation (but hey it created the illusion that she was open to listening), and then at the end everyone accepted her again. But here's the thing: She never actually changed. She played the part for five minutes. But then went back to her victim playing when the husband talked to her.
    And then she refused her husband life support and finally displayed who she really was. Just a vile, selfish person.

    After watching the episode, I'm confused about something. Prior to filming, Carol had moved out of the house and was living with her son (leaving poor Dave with her mess, no utilities, and a heavily mortgaged house). If I were Dave's family, I would have considered her hoard abandoned and cleaned out the house without her input or permission. To me, she forfeited any right to have a say in the process when she left. Perhaps the family didn't know she'd moved out or Dave wasn't comfortable cleaning out her junk because he loved her, I don't know.

      I believe the family was cleaning the house and disposing of items before the show got involved. They spent many months cleaning the outside of the house and got that in decent condition, however due to health issues (back surgery, I think) with one son, who seemed to be the driving force, the family realized it was a much bigger task than they could do alone. I don't think the show could move forward without her as she is an owner of the house and all of the hoard was hers. Might have caused a law suit and considering what a thieving snake she is, there probably would have been one. Besides, the show is called Hoarders, I'm sure they would not want to be called out for going against the premise of the show.

    OK so this is only a mini caption of what happened in the show. This has to be one of the juiciest episodes of hoarders I’ve ever seen, I’ll give you a rundown. Dave had this house with his first wife Be and their children, it was the jewel of the neighborhood and they had lots of parties there. Be suffered from bipolar disorder and wound up checking herself out of a mental facility and went home and hanged herself. Carol with the kids music teacher when they were young, and she infiltrated Dave and B’s social circle and became really good friends with them. When Be died Carol moved in almost immediately and began to look after Dave. She started to drive Carol’s car, and use Carol’s credit cards! Within two years Dave and Carol got married, the son didn’t go to the wedding. Carol started to accumulate stuff and the family couldn’t even come into the house. Carol wind up leaving Dave after all the money was used up (meanwhile she was funneling money from her and Dave’s joint checking account to her own private accounts). Dave now in bad health is stuck to only the couch which is barely accessible and he has to move in with his son. Because the house is about to be condemned the family is trying to make some changes. Carol not to be confused with Carol Baskins doesn’t want to let any of the trash go, and it’s revealed that she sold bees vintage convertible that was to be given to her granddaughter when she was 16 years old to support her hoarding habit. At the end of the show it shows them moving back in together, but Dave had health issues shortly after the show and wound up dying. Carol refused aftercare and was kicked out of the house. Unfortunately the family had to sell the house because the expenses of the repairs were too much. Did I mention that Carol refinanced the home and took out a second mortgage on the home and was not willing to sell the home that she owned and use her Social Security to help with this home that she ruined. During the whole episode Carol was one of the worst characters I’ve ever seen on hoarders. She had no remorse and a terrible terrible attitude. She in my opinion was one of the nastiest people I’ve seen on the show.
    Now that I told you the facts I’m gonna tell you what I think happened, I think that Carol killed be in some sort of lifetime twisted movie way. She had her eyes on Dave and their lifestyle and took advantage and then she came and took B’s place. Her attitude about the basement were being hung her self was so callous that I can’t believe otherwise. None of this has been proven by the way, and is only my opinion

      Hello there! It's me, I transitioned to male shortly after filming Hoarders with my family. I currently work at a plant nursery in St.Louis City but I have had a CONSIDERABLE amount of viewers reach out to me and tell me I need to go into psychology lol. For now, I'm studying horticulture and using my gifts to help the Catholic Archdiocese of St.Louis become more inclusive to the LGBTQIA+ community in our city. That birthday will always remain one of if not the most special birthday I've ever had. I feel so incredibly blessed to have been able to share that experience in that beautiful home before we had to let go of it. After seeing all of the old family photos of events and dinners and parties being held there, I always imagined what it must have felt like being there. I really felt at home and at peace at that table. And I could feel my Grandma Be sitting with me. I wish I could've known her.... Anyway, Carol has since passed away and my family has finally been able to really move on. Selling the house was incredibly painful but we really just couldn't afford the rent, renovations, and upkeep. The house has been restored and is currently on the market. It is so so beautiful, the flippers did an incredible job restoring the house. Everyone in the family is still doing really well, exceptionally better in fact. Peace is an amazing thing.

    My aunt was a hoarder, but one of those “tidy” hoarders, if you can call them that... she had everything organized... if someone she knew was mentioned in the paper, she would buy up every paper in town!
    My mom has hoarding tendencies... she buys every “gadget” on the shopping network, and never wants to throw anything out. Even if it’s broken, she says she’ll “glue it back together” but she never does.

      It's so interesting how kids of hoarders (no matter the scale of severity) tend to be very minimalist when on their own. My mom is so bad about buying stuff for "future gifts" and so reluctant to "throw away something that could be given to someone" that I'm very adamant about being as minimalist as possible, no "storing" things in closets or attics to be forgotten, everything I own is out in the open with a place. Not that it stops my mom trying to "fill my house up" when she visits 🙄

      Tell her to let you sell some of the stuff so she could use the money to buy more stuff. It might work. Let her pick out stuff to sell while you have another family member go through and take the obscure items to be resold. Put the money you made on her utility bills, medication and for groceries and periodically give her some of the money for her to spend as she wish. By doing this you might eventually come to a point when the clutter is greatly reduced.

    I think this was only possible by keeping the couple away. NO WAY would a hoarder allow them to remove that much stuff without fighting and arguing over every tiny item. But they did a great job with still keeping knickknacks and hobbies for them, hobbies that might actually be fulfilled, not lofty goals that go past the person's remaining lifespan and would probably take two more generations to complete.

    • @Itried20takennames
      @Itried20takennames 3 роки тому +16

      Fluffymiyster If you watch the shows, just keeping the hoarder away and having others clean it up is a huge no-no, as they say repeatedly. And yes, they do usually argue and fight to keep stuff all the way. They have help with the owners permission, and can delegate things by saying get rid off all the baskets, all the board games except whatever, any clothe with mouse droppings, or to clean after, but if the hoarders don’t participate, often being asked to physically put things on the garbage truck themselves if able. they will just re-hoard in a few years, and feel very upset by others removing their items. Someone else doing it all is like taking all the alcohol out of an alcoholics house, and thinking this helps.

    • @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
      @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley 3 роки тому +3

      @@Itried20takennames No, I don't agree with it in most cases. I say keeping the person fully aware of just how much they're still trying to keep is better, so they can quantify it with the space of the house and any numerous projects and how long said ideas have been waiting around all to never come to fruition. Maybe that first part is being a bit lofty but the second one I've seen have more success (a person can only do so much in a lifetime and as wr get older, we slow down so we don't have time to accomplish a laundry list of hefty projects).
      But in some cases, I also feel that if there's an important deadline hanging in the balance, it's best to try to get the person to allow a trusted relative or friend to help sort things without them there. The therapy to stop the hoarding can be done after and likely, more will need to be removed anyways. Those items will be good to lend themselves to practice because I agree, without the person actually being made to confront the issue and handle the decision-making, it's just going to repeat.

I truly don't wish her harm and I hope she got help but she brought this whole thing on herself.

    I went with my wife to her mother in laws house. There was a 10" wide deer path thru the rooms. We went to the kitchen where she was making us coffee. She said have a seat. The kitchen table was piled 2 feet high with stuff. Chairs were piled with magazines and the like. My wife sat on books that were sliding around. I stood. No place to put a coffee cup down. We went up the deer path stairs so she could show us something but she could not find it. Later when she died, dumpsters like this video were filled and dumped. Yes the house is lovely, I hope someone in the family helps your grand father & step grandma hire some one to come in & clean once a week. When folks need help they often are too embarrassed to ask. I had to start cleaning my parents home when she turned 50, her eyesight was getting bad and other health issues. My brothers went over & did yard work . I did inside every Saturday morning. Two years later we hired a maid service for them as a Christmas present. We still did our Saturday morning ritual until they passed away. But hospice helped then too.
