Just a couple months until haddock trips start up again. I've already made plans to go out over the Memorial Day weekend on the Capt John boats.

Those bucktail teasers are the ticket! Seems like they add a finesse element to the presentation. I’ll have to try some this coming season

I don't think any of the haddock hit the actual jig - the teaser was key!
At the end of the day, when the bite slowed, we were even tipping the teasers with clams, at which point, you're better off just going to a high-low rig.

@@OnTheWaterMedia what color teasers did you use? Pink is my fav in the spring for haddock

What kind of fish Jimmy Fee caught at the 21:21 minute mark was that?

We send out a fishing forecast each week that details the fishing in each area of the northeast. Once the haddock season opens again (April 1st) we'll be updating it with information on the haddock season. You can sign up here: www.onthewater.com/fishing-reports

Yeah, even here in RI waters in the winter season, it's a federal whale migration zone. All vessels over 65 feet are required to slow to 10 knots. It's not mandatory for vessels smaller than that, but recommended.

Great content ! I was looking for a low profile reel for slow pitching and will go with the Penn fathom after watching your video. You think the 200 high speed or 300 high speed is better?

I see that you are bleeding them like bluefish. If you do not do that, does that affect the flavor?

Great video thank you. Surprised neither of you are wearing life jackets/buoyancy aids, even though go conditions are very calm?

Cod season in RI runs September through April, 22-28", bag limit 5. I've personally never seen haddock caught in RI waters, but regulations are similar to Mass. 17", no bag limit.

The headboats run cod trips all winter and find good success fishing off Block Island.
