This has been my favourite piano plug in for many years. It is so playable and the pedal/key noises freaked me out, took me back to my dodgy first upright.
Thanks for demonstrating the functions of the various controls. I enjoy a good piano patch and your performance reveals the subtle purpose of each one so it doesn't appear "gimmicky". I will enjoy using this more thoroughly from now on.
You should check the back of the unit it has a resonance input that "uses" the strings modelling to resonate with any you throw in, is particularly good with voices...
I like the kind of wonky sound, the slight detuning makes it just a touch honky tonk and bright sounding. The mixing of different sound characters is interresting.
Woody, when you played “back in the high life again” in another video, I became a fan. I don’t know why that’s the one that took for me, because you general do a great job and choose great songs to demo. Anyways, rock on!✊🏾
Nice review and great playing! I had totally forgotten the song that you play at 8:20, but recognized it -instantly-. Unfortunately can't remember the name of it, so can you please enlighten me.
An excellent walkthrough Woody, clearly explaining some aspects of the Radical Piano interface that are not immediately obvious. Also, you're always to be admired for your creative use of octave buttons on smaller keyboards.
I own a lot of different piano libraries and vsts but I often find myself using radical piano for almost all of my music containing piano melodies. That may change once ai get Noire. Your playing is quite enjoyable.
Thanks for the demo, really well thought out and well played. I was thinking of buying a piano VST, but I'll check out Radical Piano as I have Reason 12. So easy to miss little sleeper gems you already have lol
The first one you played at the beginning sounds like a nice upright sound for ragtime (which I play), though the higher notes are missing some resolution unfortunately. Not bad at all.
I've had this plugin for years and never explored it at all - what a waste. Thank you so much for reigniting my interest. Also, I recognised the last piece you played but can't place it, can you tell me what it is?
Hi Woody, I have an issue with the sustain pedal on my digital piano in combination with the Radical Piano instrument. When I fully press the pedal it only goes halfway not fully up in the instrument. Any idea how I might fix this? It's also not as responsive as yours, meaning it either goes halfway or completely down, nothing inbetween.
hi, sustain pedals can be continuous, or just on off, or just on, half, off. don't know what you have but it's weird that it only goes halfway. might be interesting to try some other software pianos (like pianoteq demo) to see how it behaves.
@@WoodyPianoShack Thanks for taking the time to reply, as a viewer its lovely to be able to have interaction! Hope you're well and staying safe! Thank you for your fantastic videos! Take care :)

It is about 400MB. Dat file does not appear to be compressed.
Good plugin if you want a particular upright slightly unpolished sound. There are so many piano plugins. I like the Alicia keys plugin. The Hans Zimmer plug-in is supposed to be amazing but haven’t seen many demos of that.
What is it with the "Model D" "magic"? I mean the "good version" you see for Minimoogs, pianos (Steinway apparently here for Radical Pianos), Behringer which in itself named their module "Model D" (from the good GOD Moog). Also some mouses and motors etc. Seems like when a company is up to the fourth iteration of a device then it has gathered THAT level of "fairy dust" to make some people think "Mmmm ," Model D"! (which probably was just slightly better than the C before it in most cases! ) ;:>)
6:55 I think you can definitely set your sustain pedal to respond continuously like this tutorial below. Thanks for the review Woody, nicely done. ua-cam.com/video/6SbbG24O1LA/v-deo.html
nothing changed in 12, just have to work with the sound a bit, you can see in the vid what I did. it's how you play it of course, and the feel of your midi-controller to some extent.
well you can get the reason rack vst these days, but not sure if this is included, and maybe a clunky way to get it. yes, we need more authentic home-style pianos!
It’s a good alternative but it can’t be the best unless you only go for detuned pianos. It fills a category. Keyscape fills another and pianotec yet another. You may just be speaking from the excitement of hearing such a well presentation...and that’s understandable.
Hated it when it came out. Hate it less now after a few years. It’s good when you want a particular character rather than something pristine. I find it falls apart in the higher notes and with any chord based music
Hey Woody, thanks for the video. Always interesting. I had the same issue as you had with the sustain pedal not being continuous. You can instead plug it in the expression input of your keyboard and map it in the software. Check that video about it: ua-cam.com/video/6SbbG24O1LA/v-deo.html
Completely forgot I made that video! I still have my Roland DP-10 and still using it with Radical Piano. I did part ways with the Axiom Pro 61 for a StudioLogic SL88.
Ha! The premise of your video is flawed, I already rated Radical Piano as a flexible go-to that can sound great in many situations and use frequently. I am a fan. Though, right enough I accumulated very many piano plugins/libraries before eventually uncovering this truth :-)
Such a pleasure to hear you play. Thanks so much for checking out Radical Pianos!
hi Reason, thanks for stopping by!
After looking for many VST pianos - finally I decided to upgrade my Reason from 10 to 11 to have this piano! Sounds really fantastic!
@george clarkson from 9 to 11 - my mistake
Is this being discontinued? Its not coming up in the shop. Like the old reason drum modules.
@george clarkson Ya, but it's possible to use as a VST in other programs like Logic or Cubase
This has been my favourite piano plug in for many years. It is so playable and the pedal/key noises freaked me out, took me back to my dodgy first upright.
I was very close to investing in another piano VST, but realized I'd not explored the full capabilities of this one yet! Thank you!
Radical piano is My go to piano. I rate it above any of Native Instruments and Arturias vst. Haven’t checked out Keyscape yet.
Thanks for demonstrating the functions of the various controls. I enjoy a good piano patch and your performance reveals the subtle purpose of each one so it doesn't appear "gimmicky". I will enjoy using this more thoroughly from now on.

Wow, wonderful sounding pianos! Especially for the more mellow sounds.

I think they’re great pianos, as long as one understands the sample source. Thanks for the video dear Woodmeister

Very, very nice Woody. Nice review as always and ....you're playing is so relaxed and restful. Thank you!!
Radical Piano is my 1st choice piano. Don't know why. Processed pianos sounds good too.

i love the chord progressions in that chorus, glad it hooked you too!
oh you should try/demo their new/latest piano rack :) Thanks for the demo and the amazing music!
That upright sound just makes me all nostalgic. :-)

Thanks, Woody. I love your work, especially your review of Reason-based stuff.
You can set up your sustain pedal to be continuous in the controller editor for komplete kontrol
I haven’t tried with the A series, but I figure it should work
I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
glad to hear that!

keeping it swedish, well minecraft is, not sure about c418

minecraft music!

I also have a radical piano, but the sound difference seems to be too much. Can you tell me the sample rate or audio card information?
that will have no effect, perhaps you're just used to hearing it on some other audio chain, speakers or headphones etc.
So apparently this is just 100MB? If so, that's some amazing modelling. I know it uses some samples too but still, very impressive.
might be a few 100, but not like your typical 10gb NI libraries, that's for sure
