- We have waited a while to see it, but today Barcelona delivered a solid 17-20 knots of south-south-westerly breeze and gave NYYC American Magic, the only team out on the water on Monday, the chance to open the throttles and show the outrageous performance of a new-gen AC75 in all its glory. It was almost impossible for the recon teams to keep up, such were the speeds being generated but what a fabulous spectacle and one that every fan will want to see come the racing for the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup.

It seems to me a fast and stable (in Flight) I'm a Luna Rossa fan but this in my opinion Is a serius challenge.

Went to look at the Team NZ boat before it went on the container ship. Very impressive as is all the challenger boats as well.

What happened to the top of the sail? looks like it got ripped to shreds.

Looks like they are struggling for power to lift the foil after manoeuvres, other teams seem to be able to lift the windward foil much quicker.
Looks rapid in a straight line though, like how everyone is hidden below deck, very clean.
It could be what you say but it could also be what I've noticed other teams, particularly Alinghi do, which is delay raising the windward arm in what appears to be an effort to increase stability while tacking. It's impossible to tell which one it is. When an AM cyclor was interviewed, he said that power was more than optimal, meaning availability was constantly at 100%. At least that's how I understood it. If we take his words at face value it would indicate the apparent hesitation is intentional.
I doubt it has anything to do with available power/energy as the foil cant system (battery powered) is one design. More likely they are choosing to sail that way due to the upper end wind conditions
They are testing all configurations and setups. That’s all.
