I LOVE this film. Van is so in the pocket. All the stories, backstage drama, Levon hatin' on Robbie and so on...I don't care. I remember a friend of mine reading a review of this show in the San Francisco Chronicle at Thanksgiving '76 aloud, about how they had to carry Neil Young to the stage. So when the film was released I was right on it. High and schooled, just out of high school.
Rick Danko is freaking hot!!!!. It's cool to see Martin Scorsese so young too. This movie is a little hidden jewel:) Ohh..and I almost forgot.........LOVE4DYLAN:)
True, but sad it was the last time that The Band played together, although I fully understand Robbie desire to not tour anymore (other than the obvious one, which he talks about, he was also married with 3 small children). Even Robbie wrote in his book, when he realized it was their last concert, he was overwhelmed with sadness.
And if you can spend your entire adult life touring and having no other form of a life. Good on you. I don't blame him for wanting a break from the bullshit.
You don't have a God damn clue... in this movie alone, during the concert at Bill Graham's Winterland, on Thanksgiving of 1976, they fed everyone dinner, dessert, had Ballroom dancers, and one thing The Band proved, was they could back up ANYONE, from Bob Dylan to Neil Young to Eric Clapton to Dr. John to Muddy Waters etc., and put forth just as much passion, heart, soul, and energy, into their performance, as they would have, if it were one their own songs!
Ronnie Hawkins is in the movie, he does a song with Robbie, and Robbie introducing him by saying "it all started with him". Without Ronnie there might not have been The Band, but I'm convinced that most of the members would have found some way to be involved in music. Definitely Robbie would, I think Rick, Garth and Levon would too, not sure in what form. Garth had taken music lessons, and was a genius, Rick had his own band as a teenager, I think Levon too would have found his way into the music. Not sure about Richard, his addiction might have gotten in the way, even in the Band it was touch and go several times, the other guys, especially Robbie and Rick, and to a lesser extend Garth, always tried to keep him motivated, not always successfully, though.
Saw this in ‘78. Thought it was so fricking boring. Scorsese bombed on this one. Sorry, I don’t romanticize the past... just tell it how I remember it.
Remembering Robbie
A hero
God Robbie has beautiful eyes, and expressive when he talks about how the road have taken so many, you can see the hurt in his eyes.
Beatifully cut trailer. Sums up the whole feel of the movie.

Soooo great !!!!!! Only time I saw Dylan smile .
Danko!!!!!!
Heard the Band in Seattle 1974. Bob Dylan played 4 songs, and was BOOed. The Band was what made that concert worth it!
Holy crap the Band was hot 😍
And now remastered in 4K.🎞️🎥🙏✌️
I am going to check this Movie soon. Thank You.

Little hidden jewel. Are you kidding me? It's very well known as the best rock concert film of all time.
nikkiejanee1972 indeed!!😍
Rick Danko is definitely hot! ❤
Great feel good music movie

I don't know why anyone should listen to me but if you were born before 2000 you should see it.
Since I was born
The band un gran grupo dylan el eterno poeta
Please Robbie...
The road has been just fine for 99 percent of the performers over the years, most of whom didn't choose to take hard drugs.
That's the heartbreaking part of addiction, one puts the blame on everything but themselves 😬
And if you can spend your entire adult life touring and having no other form of a life. Good on you. I don't blame him for wanting a break from the bullshit.
Hardly the best rock film ever made, if you want to see The Band at their best see them in Festival Express
Yeah

BS. Magnificient

Sam Rockwell should have portrayed Van Morrison in a movie.
He could probably get pretty close. He nailed Chuck Barris in "Confessions..."
Robbie so into him self.
Without Robbie, none of it would have happened. Also, not sure Robbie got any editing credits for the trailer.
I thought the exact same thing when I first saw this movie. The whole movie was like a love letter to himself. He was such a narcissist.
He was incredibly talented, cool and really hot. Who could blame him? Besides, let’s face it - we were all really into ourselves back then. 😊😁
@@michelledickerson7052yeah, just look at that face. What a beauty.
@@Ami483 exactly 🤩
No Ronnie in the preview? Without Ronnie, there never would have been "the Band". RIP Mr. Hawkins.
I saw the Hawk at 2:14
RIP Robbie

understand- what a time capsule, Scorsleaszy, somehow knew to archive, and someday it would be appreciated
Tell it how you remember it? What a self involved P.O.S.
Big whoop-dee-do. Does anyone care what you think? Nope, didn't think so. Have a nice day.
Party on, sunshine.
And how you remember something does not apply to other's recollection of the same event. Hence why some love this film.
