Prosecutors NEEDED Ellison to thoroughly convict SBF (who only got 25 years despite no contrition and violating parole) - so they made the no-jail-recommendation deal. Fortunately, the judge was not beholden to that deal.

Two years. I know she cooperates but not even getting 2% of her maximum sentence is shameful. You know why fraud and scams are rampant right now? Because the outcome is worth it if you get away and the consequences are minimal. She should have at least got 10% of the maximum sentence of all her charges combined.
Well, forfeiting $11 billion must hit hard too.
Besides, she made a deal, pled guilty and testified against Bankman who was the mastermind.

The sentence is too low. She did a lot to ccoperate, maybe the gov't thinks if we let her off easy, others will be more willing to flip in future cases. However, anyone committing fraud looks at this and will say punishment is low.....I will commit the fraud....if I get cauht...I will cooperate, hid the stolen funds, do a small amount of time in jail, walk away with hundreds of millions. The wrong incentive. The gov't could have proved the case without her cooperation, it would have been harder....take more time... I was thinking 5 to 10 years, with her doing at least 85% of time

Hard to say what really happened. But $11B seems pretty harsh since most of the money loaned to Alameda was lost in her bad stock deals. Was there a record of her taking that much for her personal use or was that the total of what SFB embezzled? And she'll probably get out in less than 2 years with good behavior. But her career in crypto and finance are at an end for sure.
