Be the first on your block with a shiny new Insta360 Ace Pro (just kidding, here's a quick link to buy the camera on Amazon!): amzn.to/47n0t4R OR www.insta360.com/sal/ace-pro?INRF385
One thing that made my heart drop after buying this camera for 500$, was that when I was testing mine out on the preview screen when you are recording the dynamic range looks like trash and it looked like the HDR wasn't working and had blown highlights , but when I played it back on my computer it had incredible quality , so the camera does a bit of processing after recording
Yep, the preview isn't best representation of what is comes out the back end. I suspect that is to cut down on resource consumption. Use the preview as a gauge and get longer battery life. I might be wrong, but I noticed the same thing and that's my 2 cents. ;)
I thought the exact same thing and was at first dismayed until I got home and watched it. Very different but great!
I got the Ace Pro after it came out because after looking at what its specs were, it was the best action camera for my use. I have seen some pretty amazing reviews from those who dive with it - between 30 and 75' using it and comparing. It really is impressive. Low light is where this camera kills it. Thanks for doing a real world test and putting it through its paces. It has amazing capabilities to be used.
Your awesome! Thank you for the feedback. My testing has continued, last night I was filming up in Big Bear, and much of the filming is done in low light. This camera crushes it.
I love my ace pro. I've had 3 gopro all the highest models when I bought them and they all freeze and overheat. Insta 360 is a breath of fresh air compared to GoPro.
I switched from gopro to this. So far I love it. About 30 days in also. Only thing I don't like is at closer range it blurs faces. I'm correcting this by buying a lens cover. Also the non removable lens. But I'm seeing companies saying that it is in fact removable.
Look I have been a diehard GoPro user for better part of a decade. They make a good camera, effective camera. Insta360 just raised the bar with the Ace Pro. Like the mirrorless camera race, Nikon, Sony and Canon all make great cameras. Each always trying to one up each other. End the end, use the consumers are the big winners. Same applies with GoPro and Insta360.
Nice job 👍
I have had mine for a month also and as luck would have it we are having a really warm December so I was able to get two more kayak fishing trips in and used the Ace Pro and was impressed, it's a great camera.
Thank you new friend! Stay tuned for next video on this camera!
That go cart footage summed it all up! Great video and I want one!
Hey new friend, welcome to the channel. You want to know something funny? As negative as this is going to sound, when I test something, I'm trying to find fractures, and when I find those weak points, open them up (part of my job). That day on the Go Carts, with my 8 year old son holding the camera while I drove, seeing how much things were rattling all over, I thought for sure this cameras stabilization would have failed. This is exact reason why I took a month to test this camera out, I was trying to find weak points so I could expose. This company earns every bit of phrase I gave in this video!
oh my goodness! I'm the same on my little channel. Whatever it is...I like to push something to know it's limits but not in a destructive way just to know what I'm working with. Anyway, you are lucky that they sent you a free one, I think I'll reach out to them! LOL @@photographytalk
To be fair i enjoyed your honest opinion on the camera and one of the reasons i have two Ace Pros for my type of content. However whem it comes to not being sponsored if you received a product for free and get to keep it after any review or video is done. I still consider that a method of payment but as a small channel content creator my self, i dont see a problem with that but others will and the thing is that viewer's dont understand how much money these products cost that they want us to review and if they expect us to pay for these out of pocket when we really dont need them and will probably inly do a video on that product one time onlyz they should be willing to pitch in for that product purchase. 😅 from me my good man, you get a thumbs up. 😎👊
Brilliant review, i am going to buy my first ever action camera in the New year, i was torn between the Insta 360 Ace pro and the GoPro 12, watching this video has made my mind up and i will be buying the Insta360 Ace Pro. Many thanks for a brilliant review.
Why thank you, and congrats on your upcoming new camera!
Thank you for including all the footage that you did, good to see more footage than talk!
You bet!
very helpful. glad i watched first!
Great review, I've had mine for over two weeks and yah, pretty much everything they said was dead on. I don't think who don't have this in their hands actually using it for more then 2 days knows what this camera is capable of. Not only does it give amazing results out of the camera, it's really just a fun camera to use, I don't have this relationship with my DJI or GoPro lol
100%, it's a blast! Thanks for the kind words friend!
I'm not convinced the marketing for this was good. For me I did extensive comparison research, Which most will not do. There is a huge rise of people that wanna create content but are not tech people. Ace pro is the most user friendly camera of the 3. You hate editing well Ace pro makes it far easier compared to others. I think these type of things failed to be marked to the masses.
@@craigshandworld Exactly, I have a photography background working with 35mm, been a dark room tech and color graded negative slides if you remember those days. I also have the equipment at home and the skills to color grade and have been for years. I'm at the point where I just want something that takes good video right out of the camera. Why are we sooooo obsessed with the ability to be able to spend more wasted time for footage which at the end of the day for most will just file away. What's that popular saying.. "work smarter, not harder" lol
@@MiyagisRant bro, that should have been the marketing "work smarter not harder" also, the pause recording is going to save insane amount of time!
@@craigshandworld Pause recording is one of my favorite features!
LOL 😂. My experience with click bait titles was opposite of yours. Things like “terrible flaw” and other “click here” titles were everywhere. I know camera quality when I see it and after receiving the ace pro and testing it myself I knew people were intentionally lying and it was BS. Now, I only watch reviews that I think are honest, like yours! Thanks!
Brother you rock! I appreciate the kind words! Welcome to the family!
I agree!I love mine and no overheating!
Hey man! I’ve been having a huge problem with my ace pro- flickering. At 60Hz 4k 24 ss-literally anything I get this awful flicker in my video which totally takes away from my shots. Any suggestions why? Great video!
Thanks Alex, another great video
Glad you enjoyed it
I was just about to purchase the DJI AC4 when this thing came out... man I'm glad I went with the Ace Pro... The "purevideo" low-light performance is SO friggin' good... I can just about use this thing handheld in lieu of my full-frame sony A7iii on a gimbal for RE videos... WOW. This IS the future. The only con is no 10-bit profile (I don't care - it's that good) and it's heavy...but my cinewhoops can handle it, so all's well!
Important features I need:
Zero distortion
Batteries have to work in low sub zero temps, I see Hero 12 will work with Enduro batteries in -20C according to DC Rainmaker. Have you done any freezer testing yet? I live in Norway so I have to have a camera that can handle the winter. Hero 7 does not do well, it can't even handle -1C. 4 Session handles at least -11C.
I've had mine sitting in my Amazon checkout for a couple weeks. Thank you for this video, it helped me make the decision. Only thing I think I will need to get yet is the handle, it doesn't come with one right?
Glad I could help!
Right, but you can get a selfie stick, no prob!
With all that computing power, they should provide 10bit, as well as the option to turn HDR on/off. Furthermore I'd prefer that AI thing to morph into a single frame (with cross dissolve and a specified amount of time, which you could config) instead of that gimmicky ai frame overkill. With all those changes realised, I'm glad to buy another action camera. Nevertheless good job Insta. Like this post, if you see things the same way... Greetings from Switzerland. Roman.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Seriously good review. I've been eyeing it from the time it's been out. I love shooting low light material with my drones and have wanted an action camera that at least equaled that type of quality. GoPro's newest offering (12) didn't quite do it for me. I've got the GoPro 10 and it's always been a bit problematic (overheating, etc) so I'm looking at this Insta360 Ace Pro pretty hard.
Friend, I appreciate your feedback. As I just mentioned to another user here, GoPro makes an amazing camera, I've been using them nearly exclusively for the last 10+ years. What Insta360 did here is raise the bar, and they raised it way the heck up there!
I recently got my new cam i also liked it ❤ from India 🇮🇳
: Which accessories like Tripod, body cover, or any other have you found/ using ?
Amazon India doesn't have anything from insta 360 for Ace pro right?
Great video. I have an ace pro and my low footage is amazing. I have a GoPro 12 too and I think I might sale it now.
Thank you for the kind words new friend!
Cheers so much however I’m still not sold on it as there seems to be an immense color shift issue
I’ve seen this on two different review videos so far
Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks much once again mate for your time and efforts 😊❤
You are very welcome, thank you for stopping by!
@@photographytalk thank you you're welcome anytime too ☺️
Will this time sync with the insta 360 X3?
Great Action Camera and good sharing ✌️😀🙏
You are very welcome buddy! Have a great New Year!

Entendi perfeitamente! Obrigado pela atenção.
They gave you the camera and it's not a paid review ? Right! Anyways thank you for atleast honestly declaring that the camera was sent to you.
In the future, you might want to cut down all the tease and preview and get right to the meat of your review. The first 3-minutes for example. Nice review as it went along further. My biggest question wasn't spoken to, so I'm guessing it is not an issue? DJI cameras REQUIRE a phone app for many functions. Not the least of which is to register the unit. Can this camera operate fully without ever necessitating a phone app or connecting it directly to the Internet? Thanks.
I haven't touched the app. For how I use the camera it's a rock star as it is. That said, Insta360 has a robust app that does have a ton of features.
Nice video :D Can i attach my DJI mic to this camera?
That flare on those lights is huuuuge, hmmm
Hi, how long can you do pause recording for? Won't the camera switch itself off after a certain time, due to it being on pause? The reason I ask is that I have the Insta X2, and love doing the clap transitions where you go from one place to another after each clap of your hands, but it's difficult to get accurate via editing, well for me anyway 😂. Thanks
As long as you want. You can even go back to older clips and add onto them.
thank you@@onlymyopiniontech
@@joogy5899 You're welcome! Have a great day and be safe out there!
Alex, I always enjoy and find value in your videos, particularly your gear reviews. But I think the biggest takeaway is that I need to get that tent and light setup. ;)
Dave you rock brother! OMG I love that tent!!! Check out the full video on it here: ua-cam.com/video/abvihISGp90/v-deo.htmlsi=FJ29t3gkRie2BvRg
no kidding is that a tent or a forest condo??
@@user-tj3yi9zj4m absolutely roughing it! lol
I love the Ace Pro. However, they missed the boat by not making acompatible attachment for the GO3 and the Ace/AcePro. Hopefully, someone will come up with an adapter to use the GO3 with the AcePro magnetic base.
Unless I'm missing something from your message, they do have a cold shoe mount that allows you to attach the Wireless Pro, then you have another adapter for the otherside which allows you to plug your mic into.
@@photographytalk I was referring to the magnetic base, Both the GO3 and the Ace/AcePro are completely different. If I put a magnetic base for the AcePro on something like a tripod or selfie stick , as an example, then the GO3 doesn't fit without replacing the ad hoc magnetic base, which essentially defeat the purpose of using the magnetic base as a quick release system.👎😮💨
What I REALLY want to know....how scared were you on this death machine? (6:26)
Terrified! LMAO!!!! yeah my wife made a comment on how silly I looked on this thing. My son wanted to go on it and I barely fit in it!
Mine came with the gyroscope broken. And its been weeks since i spoke to support and still no replacement... first time i got something from insta360 and im not liking the experience
Video idea... show how bit players in different apps has different qualities, with Tiktok players with the best. UA-cam and Meta require membership in order to get their high bitrate players, tgus why tiktok took off in popularity.
Great lowlight performance for an action cam 👍 But I’m bummed that the lens cover is not removable. Huge mistake by INSTA360. One I hope they correct in the next version. Also, as cool as the magnetic attachment is, a 1/4” thread mount would provide added security. Other than that, looks like an awesome action camera
It is removable, they used some silicone glue to hold it on so you need a tool. How do you think insta replaces the lens of it's not replaceable.
@@LiveLinerFishing Agreed, you CAN do that. You just void your warranty by doing so. And this isn't speculation, it's straight from insta 360.,
Over 20 years rough use with action cams and I’ve never scratched or damaged a lens. Complete storm in a teacup (and one that prevents misting, which is a real day-to-day issue) #lessdrama
@@gavindavis1300 And in 54 years I've never lost a limb, so obviously people who have are just overreacting.
My point exactly. It’s all about context/probability. Yes, it could happen, but I bet the majority of people kicking up about it have never damaged a lens. I simply don’t agree that it’s such an issue. The Insta360X3 is used for action and its lenses are far more exposed. The Ace Pro lens is fixed to minimise fogging, which as I said is a much bigger issue. As a regular action cam user in and out of water, I know what I’d prefer.
The AI feature and the non user friendly app needs a lot of work
Well I accidentally removed the lens cover wasn't even trying....they lied about this
ua-cam.com/users/shortshqClo5D_2Ao?feature=share
why do you have so much fur on your shirt?
Seriously? ha ha ha. Perhaps cat.
@@photographytalk hahahaha just want to break the comment thread! Great video though
Starting the Video with calling out - rightfully - other creators about their rushed and bland reviews and then doing the same.
Good laugh. You made a funny!
Out of topic. But look at that chest! 😊
Bs. I love my ace. Don't listen to these UA-camrs. It's a excellent camera
LOL, you should watch the video vs making assumptions (which are incorrect). No BS here pal.
this is not camera testing
Your right, it's not. It's a video showing footage from various in the field shooting I've done with the camera. That's the testing part.
Another sponsored review.......
A poor assumption. But you go right ahead and think what you wish buddy. I hope 2024 is a better year for you! Cheers!
@@photographytalk huh so that's not an affiliate link....LOL. And thanks for noticing been a incredible 2023 and if 2024 is half as good, I will be blessed! #stopsellouts #nevershill ... Wasn't trying to flame buck just putting a disclaimer out there. Literally found no negatives and have a pinned affiliate link. Too much mate.
@@HillPhantom Hey I get it, lots of people out there creating videos and selling their souls for a buck. But let's be real here, having AMAZON affiliate links vs being PAID by in this case Insta360 (which I wasn't) are two completely DIFFERENT things. So, while I have your attention... let me put you in check... when I was given this camera from Insta360, it was asked that I release my review within a week (good or bad). I could have released a video that week... easily. However I decided not till I had thoroughly spent enough time (which I spent a MONTH with this camera) with this thing to validate my thoughts. The camera showed a lot of promise right from the start, so i opted to spend further time to make sure before I created this video. No sellout here... if this thing was a turd, you would have heard it from me. Which is another reason why I spent so much time with this thing... trying to find fractures. For what I use an action camera for, this thing is on point. This video focuses on three things: low light performance, dynamic range and stabilization, huge home run and yes... NO NEGATIVES from me here (this is where the mic drops). In the next video, I'll lift up the curtain further, there are tons of other goodies in this camera that I like, there are some I feel are novelty and just not for me, and yes... there are a couple things I don't like. Now they are minor, but still, if we are talking overall, no camera is perfect. This camera certainly isn't an exception to that. LOL... just having fun with you bro! Oh... one more thing, there are disclaimers mentioned in the start the video and in the description already.
@@photographytalk bro, I am not trying to flame, I like your videos, I think you do a GREAT job. I think UA-cam has serious problem with "bought" reviews. You clearly have an audience and voice, I by no means meant to step on you personally. You don't need to check me, I think it was more me checking you. And, that check resulted in opening up about being given the camera as well as the affiliate links....that was not really the case in your first comment if we are being honest with each other. And I do appreciate your transparency and candid responses. To be clear you did say I presumed wrong, seems perhaps I didn't? You were given the camera and use affiliate links so I appreciate those disclaimers for sure. Hey man, do you big fella, we all make our own choices and I look forward to hearing about any flaws you may have found in the next video.
@@HillPhantom Brother you are very good in my book! Let's go grab a beer eh?! Seriously though, I agree with your comment on "bought" reviews. Videos that glamourize crappy products as gems drives me up the wall. Anyway, I made my point and you made yours. Thanks for being the best part of our community... see you in the next video and have a kick a$$ New Year!!
open your eyes...
Sure thing, what are we looking at?
Too much stabilization and horizon lock takes out too much dynamics from the footages. People don't really know proper art of filming anymore.
You certainly have the option to live with shaky video footages if you prefer. Just switch the stabilization off.
