Once you have seen a rise of the footsoldier there all the same, but must admit I laughed my bollox in Marbella when they nicked the VW camper in Holland.and smoked crack etc with the vans owner which they kidnapped him really but he well and truly getting them back robbing Tucker and Rolfe's money. The whole subject has been exhausted so much and most of the films are just fiction and artistic licence, which is what happens when sell the rights to a story to a production company. They’ve become fictional characters now like Robin Hood. Stories that were probably originally told about a real life person but every time it was retold bits would be added on. Pretty much what’s happened to Tate, Tucker and Rolfe with the “Essex Boys” franchise.
    In truth we probably never will get to the bottom who actually killed them. My personal thoughts are that the wrong people got sent down for it. For me I don’t think they personally had much motive for doing it. Plus the whole thing seemed like a very professional hit. I think whoever was behind it probably paid someone a lot of money to do it.
    People are dismissive of the idea that it could of been the police but they would have as much motive as anyone and who hasn’t heard about crooked coppers before? The “Essex Boys” as they’ve been dubbed were behind a very high profile ecstasy death, Leah Betts the daughter of a police commissioner and they was clearly causing a big nuisance for the police and making a lot of noise.
    The idea that someone within the police force could have been behind it I don’t think is out the question but I think probably the most likely culprit would a be a much larger firm who they’d upset somehow, which wouldn’t of been hard seeing as they was going around robbing other drug dealers.
    The fact they didn’t bring any weapons with them themselves makes me think they was going to meet someone they already knew and associated with who maybe had a grudge against them themself or was paid a lot of money to set them up.
    Micky Steele was already associated with them and being a drug smuggler would have had the perfect reason to get them to go and meet him in a field in the Essex countryside.
    I don’t think he did it though. I think the only thing he’s guilty of at worse is setting the thing up for someone else. He could have been the go between. He might have been nothing to do with it but I don’t think either way he was the one standing behind the gun.
    There is absolutely no physical evidence to say him or Jack Wholmes were anywhere near the scene when it happened. The triangulation of Micks phone signal (which is how they catch a lot of professional criminals these days) shows that he was nowhere near the area at the time.
    Bearing in mind we’re talking about the mid 90s here. This is before that sort of technology was used to track people. They’ve only been able to work all these things out since. On top of that there is absolutely no DNA evidence linking him or Wholmes to the crime and there was no gun powder residue found on either of them when they was arrested.
    We probably never will find out the truth. I do think that Nippers dad is also another credible theory. Personally I don’t think Nipper just said all that just to sell his book. Maybe it’s possible that his dad did say all that to him. Maybe Nippers lying. Maybe his dad was lying but they had as much motive as anyone to kill the 3 of them and both Nipper and his dad were both known faces themselves within the underworld.
    If they were involved it does seem a little convenient to me that the man who was supposed to of done it is dead now himself. If he did do it I seriously doubt he acted on his own. So maybe there’s some truth in what he said but I doubt it’s the whole truth.
    Nipper Ellis is definitely the one who was portrayed as the Welsh guy in the film though. He actually did shoot Pat Tate in his home through a bathroom window. He was mates with Pat Tate, in fact it was him who Pat Tate used to rob other dealers with.
    After they all fell out Pat, Tony and the others were gunning for him, they hounded him for months. They’d ring him up all the time and try and trick him into meeting them. Turn up at his flat with guns. Break into his home. Turn up at his dads house. Make threats towards Nippers sisters and threaten to kidnap them when they left school.
    He shot Pat Tate and on one occasion shot at Tucker and Rolfe as well. He was doing it out of fear. He was intending on killing them. Maybe someone beat him to it. Maybe he was involved. Maybe his dad was involved.
    To be honest I think the only people who will ever really know what happened that night are the 3 men in the ground and whoever it was who was who actually done it.

    • @mrkipling2201
      @mrkipling2201 9 місяців тому

      I never took any notice of the theory about the police being responsible. Or Leah Betts father. Until I watched the 3 part Sky Television documentary on the case and the whole scene that aired recently. I actually thought that it was possible that the police, and the father, could have been responsible. Due to some facts that were disclosed that I didn't know about before. Apparently Paul Betts was in the area on the night of the murders, due to taking a long drive home and went out again afterwards on that evening. It was said that he couldn't have done it because he was on film giving an interview, at the time they were apparently murdered. What if they weren't murdered at that time though?? What if it happened a few hours either way?? Which it's been said is a possibility. That was the first time I had doubts about whether the authorities could have been responsible.
