  • Here I talk to actor and film producer, Terry Stone, who began life as a rave promoter, but who in 2003 switched gears entirely and began a new phase in his life as an actor.
From an early age, Terry refused to accept the status quo, and from humble beginnings, chose to do whatever it took to achieve his dreams in life. Hear Terry talk about his recipe for a successful life, as well as the core beliefs that have shaped his outlook.
    KEY TAKEAWAYS
Self-belief will give you anything you want in life. By telling yourself that you can make it, by giving yourself constant affirmations, you can achieve all your goals in life.
The recession caused Terry to lose his house and his job, and at his lowest ebb, he could very well have decided that all his chances had passed him by. But after attending a rave one night, he saw the potential in a new career in promotions and ended up making a success of himself.
From his sales background, Terry used his natural charisma to become a leading force in the early 90’s rave culture, putting on events and marketing them using his innate entrepreneurial skills.
You learn far more from failure than you do from success. It’s not about how many times you get knocked down, it’s about how many times you get up afterwards.
Too many people seem to think that they can achieve their goals in life without working for them. This is an unfortunate side-effect of celebrity culture. But those who put the work in, always reap the richest rewards.
Drama taught Terry how to stand up in front of a crowd and perform, a skill he applies not just to his acting career, but also to his experience in sales.
Terry believes that people like Nigel Farage are doing so well because their message is simple and uncluttered. People who speak with clarity and directness will always appeal to those that people find confusing.
When Terry took up acting, he did everything he could to learn about the craft. He took classes, took coaching, and applied his same driven spirit into this new career. There’s always room to learn, and room to grow, no matter what your profession is.
Terry’s most valuable advice for aspiring actors is to examine your ambitions and make sure they’re compatible with the actor’s life. You must be prepared to work hard and to expect many failures along the way. Perseverance is everything, and realistically, many acting careers do not match the dreams that many aspiring actors have.
We should always be looking for the next challenge. Winners never quit and quitters never win. Find what you’re happy doing and stick at it.
    BEST MOMENTS
‘Anybody can achieve anything if they put their mind to it’
‘It all stems from having that positive outlook’
‘If you’re putting it out there and you’re working hard, you’re going to get stuff’
‘You could be a genius, but if you can’t speak to someone, look them in the eye, then so what?’
‘People become actors because it’s fun. People want to be King Lear or a cockney or a psychopath’
‘It’s no good being the richest person in the graveyard’
‘The only advice that’s ever meant something to me is “Be Yourself”’
‘Winners never quit and quitters never win’

I would just like to say that I've loved listening to terry, he's the same age as me, and it's so nice to hear someone speak so truthfully about life, how it was and how it should be, generation x made the world a better place, I find it unbelievable how the woke minority bullshit has made gen x a bad thing.
Take the knee for the veteran’s.

Love you Terry bit your wrong about millenials I'm an early millenial and I've got more drive about life than alot of gen x's I know. And myself and alot of my friends do not get offended and we do not curl up in safe spaces. Late millenials (1991 onwards) are the snowflakes. And gen Z's are the absolute worst of the worst
