There's something mysterious trying to cross the Old Iron Bridge...
Following my disappointment with Funnel Trouble, I went back to the drawing board and drew this together. Even though Funnel Trouble received some very nice comments, I cannot help but feel let down by it, and I wanted to improve dramatically with it's successor.
Duncan Gets Spooked takes from a story which Simon has learned a lot about, and has had first had experience of - having seen the ghostly engine himself in Dartmoor. The story was well known in local legend, and the striking similarities suggest that David Mitton must have known about it himself to write the story he did. We, however, have added an extra layer of depth to this and totally blitzed the original TV story's structure - do not expect it to be exactly the same, it's a complete hammer blow to the original and very very loosely based on it.
The voice acting performances throughout were flawless, and you should all be very proud of yourselves for your efforts. Coupled with the sound effects I've gathered up, manipulation of echoes and sound, and the spine-tingling and excellent themes composed by Kevin McLeod and The Old Bean, I'm very, very proud of this one, and hope you will all enjoy it.

In the cold of a silvery night
Guided only by a flickering light
A wee train pushed some trucks with all of its might
The air was still as they chuffed up the hill
Approached the bridge (???????)
Too late to realise their blunder
The trucks drove the muster
And they were thrown into the marsh that dragged them under
There was no one for miles to hear them yell
Alone and terrified, they quickly fell
Grasped by the tentacles of a watery hell
Some nights in the darkness, you can hear their call
Crying out for someone to stop their fall
But no one can help them, no one at all
Approached the bridge that would see their kill.
That is one of the coolest expansions of Duncan Gets Spooked I have ever heard!
You even gave Peter Sam a speaking role!
And expanded on the backstory of the ghost engine!
16:37 Duncan : AHHH ITS ZE GHOST TAKE ME BACK!!! X2
Love the line!

What about the line right after that one?
“Never mind my favourite spot in the sheds, Rusty can have it, I’M NOT CROSSING THIS BRIDGE UNTIL DAYLIGHT! TAKE ME BACK!”
This is a much more Realistic Version of what could have happen
This audio production is probably the DARKEST of the entire variety pack and with what it might get away with it would be a wonder and a miracle that it would someday become an actual feature redub or a remake by all means.
Rewatching some of these adaptions and this is one of my favourites in all honesty- I always found the original scarier when I was younger, although I think the extra detail added makes it less scary for me. (It is fairly strange I know)
And the SFX... so amazing, wish I could do SFX as realistically as that! ;P
The screams from the crew give me the chills.
This was an amazing adaptation! I love the expansion of this story!
When you think about it, that ghost wouldn't be that scary. It's just the ghost of an engine that wants to get home, not inflict any harm.
Okay, I'll take your word for it. Of course, it would be good to have more audio productions of the Railway Series.
We wanted to make this one as chilling as possible and I think we achieved our ambition both in terms of writing and production. Still very proud of this one. :)
Was this based on a true story?
@@vincentberkan605 I may be a few months late but yes, this is based on a real accident that occured in Dartmoor in the 1960's where a small locomotive pushing freight cars derailed on a bridge and fell into the waters below, and was never recovered. Pretty spoopy
Where is Dartmoor located
How many tucks was the engine pushing
Was it the engine or the crew that was screaming for help?
Duncan gets Spooked is supposedly based on an incident that happened many Years ago in Dartmoor where an engine was flung off a bridge into the Marshland below when the train of Slate wagons it was propelling derailed.
like how old? like 1960 or way older?
@@the.sketch.projekt8851 I've pondered this one for years and cant find much information on it. The only incident I can think of that's similar is the infamous Tay bridge disaster. However, there is a bridge in dartmoor called the "meldon viaduct" which seems similar in to the old iron bridge.
@@sangheiliwarrior86 Thanks for the info.
That sounds scary so so scary Duncan is scared but I don’t know what to do
why is it that i can envision the driver and fireman of that engine's skellingtons, still in uniform under the marsh?
this is how hit should right
Well, now it’s more like “This is how Mattel should write.”
MAN, I love this audio when it was relised on the Sodor Island Forums. ='D
16:37 me when I see an SCP monster
SCP?
This is a lot A LOT. More creepy than the actual episode. The way the Engine Screamed.
I felt kinda sorry for The Scrap Merchants, they may have caused the accident but they didn’t mean to really.
This is nice
Would it be alright if I do a Trainz Remake of Duncan Gets Spooked using this audio?
I LOVE IT
LOVE THE AUDIO
I'm glad you did! Wish we could hear more of Audio Productions soon. I hear Gordon the Big Engine will be up next! Is that true?
you said that Simon saw the ghost engine at Dartmoor and that it is a well-known legend there? Well I can't seem to find any online articles about it? Care to point me in the right direction?
was billy connolly really in this?
I thought it was his voice
Was Billy Connolly in Thomas and the Magic Railroad? btw I really liked your RWS style adaptation of Rusty and the Boulder :)
0:54 Sounded like Diesel 10 .
that's good the know!
What is the sound of the engine screaming for help
It was known as The Leap Of Faith.
10:51-11:11
LOL!! Man was singing song called Amazing Grace like that. 😀😀😀😀😁😁😁😁😂😂😂😂
Ahh is the ghost 😱👻
How many tucks Peter sam pulling when they broke away
Wow. Spooky.
+Thomas1Edward2Henry3 what if Smudger saw a ghost on the old iorn bridge?
What's the soundtrack 14:21
really nice but the only thing i would ask you to do is to redo it with a more sad version of the skarloey railway tune at the beginning to fit the mood
The Great Western Way In retrospect it would have been better.
Hey is it okay if I adapt this for animation?
@@shawanderson5747 disregard the last message, Shaw, so long as credit is given for the audio and a link back to here, go ahead and have fun with it 👍
@@SiForumsAndFansite thanks
@@SiForumsAndFansite Did I say something wrong? 😟
@@shawanderson5747 no, you didn't. You asked permission and we've given our blessing
@@SiForumsAndFansite thanks
If it is ok with you can I make a remake of this audio (I did draw half a story board)
How many tucks was the engine pushing when he fell off the bridge
I think 4
Definitely won't be Gordon the Big Engine - I have another selection of RWS, annual, ERS, TV Series and one original story lined up. Gordon Goes Foreign WILL be the first one out though.
@@dukethenarrowgaugeengine1685 We never thought about it, Duke wasn't vital to the narrative
what tracks by kevin mclaed or whatever his name. did you use?
Here are the ones I know and where they played
Decay: The engine falls off the bridge
House of Leaves: The scrap merchants see the ghost
Dark Walk: Duncan ecnounters the ghost
how is this somehow based on a true story? forgive my ignorance

Me when i see Tommy Lee going to killed all of us 16:37
WTF is this a Thomas story or someone high as hell
Is there a transcript of the video?
Was this story based on a true incident?
Vincent Berkan yep
An engine at dartmoor was pushing cars but the first one derailed taking the rest of the cars and the engine of the bridge and into a marshland. 1960
@@amaresmommyify any links to It?
@@amaresmommyify yeah?
2:24 this guy sounds evil, is it PT Boomer?
Is Billy Connoly really in this?
Who did Billy Connolly play in this audio production?
Guy at the beginning screaming for help
@@SiForumsAndFansite Ah okay, Thanks. Still, great job.
How did you guys get him to be in the project anyway?
