  • In this episode, which gets a little bit personal, I talk about the animated show Craig of the Creek, what it means to me and about my almost childhood super alter-ego, Grafo-Boy.
EDIT: at the 1:17 mark I accidentally skipped a bit of sentence on my script that mentions how the show also features well-represented disabled characters. Apologies, I have added a correction to the closed captions.

I love watching Craig of the Creek with my kids. I hope they get everything out of it that you did. You might also like Owl House, Amphibia, Gravity Falls, and Big City Greens. We have watched all of those as a family and they all have something special.

Kids shows can be really impactful indeed, steven universe made me cry when I watched it recently, and there is a reason bluey is so popular right now

SU definitely laid some important groundwork - even if it did stumble quite badly imo later on. CotC was originally created by two of the writers from SU, too! I feel like one of the reasons it’s an improvement is that it doesn’t represent LGBTQIA, race and disability through the lens of “magical other”: they’re all just facets of human life. I love that about the show.
