I didn't know I needed cosy cosmic horror until now! I'm a soft hearted horror fan, so I'm not a fan of bleak outcomes, but I like freaky cosmic horror so I'm in a tricky position.

Lovecraft was a man with an extremely limited perspective, leaving this subgenre with so much growing to do! Smarter people than me have pointed out that Clive Barker's Hellraiser/Hellbound Heart is a story of eldrich entities whose unknowable agenda seems to include, well, being really randy and achieving pleasure through pain. "An angel to some, demon to to others." Which really quite inverts what Lovecraft made. Theres a lot of room for new ideas in cosmic horror. Im glad people such as OP are throwing their creativity into it.

Not to be weird, but I had a similar idea long ago in some school writing project of your Cabin Keeper, ‘Guardian of secluded dwellings.’ I had just watched the original night of the living dead & the original Evil Dead movies with an uncle of mine. My intent was to invent a better reason why the Evil dead & the like horror crews would find it fun to go so deep into the woods & be in a secluded cabin anyways. A creature who always existed to help the expansion of life beyond the ‘normal’ boundaries & maintain it, to attempt to bring the moral quandary of if it’s leading humans to the depths to feed the dark things already making their home in the deep woods, or to challenge those creatures, or perhaps it’s a force of nature just living in the boundaries of what is known that happens to lure other life out there. My creative writing assignment was a 2 paragraph short story I had expanded to 5/6, because I was a creative writing kid & a try hard like a lot of my classmates, where we had to use the words ‘allure’ and something else like ‘bog’ but I can’t remember exactly what it was. I’m of course extrapolating in hindsight 20 years later after a quick 20 mins of ramshackling through my most accessible school box & not finding my final draft of course. But I just wanted to share that here & thank you for making your Gezelligeon! That was a good trip for me, and I would definitely revere such a pantheon odd entities.

Wouldn't call those comsic >horror<, but they are really cool and creative designs.

I can't tell you how much i appreciate your work along these particular lines of thinking. The world needs more of this idea. The unknown doesn't have to be bad. And even when it's good, that can be scary too because....can we really trust it? It's an idea space far too little explored.

Now i want to make Cozy Cosmic Horror gods. Bzgomok The Still Churn - A worm like creature, teeming with small feelers and jointed tendrils and trills when near someone with a tummy ache, soothing their belly bubbles and bringing calm. Considering this creature and its the size of a house cat, its trills mimic that of a cats purr and it finds laps rather comfortable to rest on. Daraagl The Moving Abode - A massive creature that looks as if it were a hill, walking on giant clawed feet. This creature is the patron of the unsheltered and cold, providing comforting dwellings within itself when settled down and at rest. That's all i got so far.

How about like a minor deity of star gazing. A being of many eyes filled with the beauty of a clear night sky and the many constellations that paint it.

i feel like these creatures would be especially pleased by people who go out of their way to help out those who truly need it during fall and winter, be it as big as helping the homeless find warm shelters to weather the cold or as small as opening up your heart to someone lonely and isolated who could use someone to cuddle up with when the weather gets bad.

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! I'm always looking for new strange and unique creatures beyond our comprehension, but the stories they're in are always such a downer. Would you be okay with us drawing fanart of them? How about writing some fanfics/creepypastas?

Can you please point these guys over in my direction? I'm so miserably tired of the only major deities where I live wanting to rip off my arms.

I absolutely love the designs and the concept, but to me they do not strike me as gods, but just as lovecraftian creatures, alien entitites perhaps existing outside what our feeble minds consider possible, but not universe shifting gods, but rather something akin to a demons or a baba Yaga in regards to how important they are as individuals (to the extend that they can be called that) for their world. A single human does not seem beneath their notice to me.

Omg I love this idea. I've had the thought of Eldrich gods that were helpful rather than dreadful. I kinda get the vibe of kindness from the eldrich illustrations from the band Sleep Token, but maybe I'm weird.

wtf dutch has a term for "hygge" an untranslatable danish word with the same meaning. Actually that hot drink enjoying blanket being could be called "The Hygge"

It seems like a lot of folkloric beings like the fae except on a cosmic scale. In folklore, a lot of them are scary and harmful, but some are helpful, and many are in the middle.

This reminds me in concept to a lot of some cozy SCP's.

I think the coziest thing about these creations are how, in opposite to Lovecraft's gods, they are intuitively knowable. Each one is absolutely relatable from the desire to play with leaf litter to almost an embodiment of finding comfort.
