I also found that frequent trims have helped my hair retain length, this may be excessive but I pretty much trim any scraggly ends each time I wash my hair and it helps me notice if how I've worn my hair throughout that week has caused any additional breakage!

i've been using cantu leave-in & the shea moisture curl & style milk sealed in with avocado oil. that's been great for me. i'm about to try the newer cantu leave-in. let me know if you'd like me to review it

i try to plait it up most of the time. i feel like that helps keep the moisture in but i have just worn my fro under a bonnet & scarf before
