I'm following your quarantine couple instead of the quarantine trio (the very popular that's out there). But the quarantine trio has crashed my cycle and makes my water super cloudy. Plus i feel like the fish get super stressed too. I just started using your qc; paraguard and metroplex, and so far having great results! Always dropping gems, always on point. I do have a question concerning medication using Polyguard and metroplex daily. Do you conduct water change during the this process. Also you treat daily for your quarantine process?
Yes daily, and yes you can water change if the water gets dirty but it’s not necessary if using Prime and stability. Also, don’t confuse PolyGuard with Paraguard! Big difference. The QC is PARAGUARD and metroplex.

What would you recommend I do or add to my 90 gallon aquarium? I have two blood parrots that are 3-4” and three electric blue acaras 3-4” as well. But my tank seems pretty open and frankly boring. But the fish are absolutely beautiful, I do have an FX2 with an HOB filter also and I do 80% water changes per week.
Your tank and set up are crazy sick Kev. Congrats on all your tanks and channel. Quick question. I have similar fish like yourself and recently my two heaters stopped working. Never had that problem and my tank has always been maintained at around 82 degrees. You can just imagine my panic attack when I woke up and seen my temp at a cold 69. I could tell my fish were feeling the effects and going into shock!! I immediately intervened by checking my heaters and resetting the temp to no avail. I bought another Fluval top of the line heater to supplement the other two I had on my 130g tank. All three heaters have been set to 82 degrees and they seem to be working due to the lights being on. The water temp won’t go past 76 degrees. Any advice of what I can do? Is there something I’m doing wrong. Thanks Kev.
Love your videos! They have been very helpful. My question to you is can you dose prime daily? I thought you add prime only with water changes. I have a small 10 gal tank with 5 fish that I started 4 days ago and only been doing stability daily. I also have a 20 gal with an Axolotl. I wondering if the same applies to him. He is a freshwater amphibian.
This is so dope. I've been wanting to do an all severum tank, but I all the different types of severum are so freaking hard to find. All I ever see online and in the stores are the green, orange shoulder, gold, and every once in a while the turquois. Right now I have 4 severum in my Discus tank and 2 severum in my peacock/hap tank. Even if I had an all severum tank I wouldn't move the two that I have in my peacock tank. They have spent these years in that tank acclimated to those water parameters, I fear moving them might kill them. Oh and for all those that don't know. Severum may have small mouths, but they hold their own against African Cichlids.
I wish i had the money to do more with my tanks. Cuz Kev got me onto cichlids. Tho i prefer South american Blue acara and severums instead usual haps and peacocks

I used to have a 120 gallon cichlid tank.. it was an in the wall tank that connected with a storage room we had.. one morning we came in the den and the floor was completely flooded all my fish were dead… not sure if the house settled and shifted the tank and cracked it.. but we had a very healthy tank.. we had more babies that you could shake a stick at.. so many we were giving them to local pet store ( very small town ) this was 20 some odd years ago.. we are looking to get back into cichlids.. to me they are the most beautiful.. I have a son with autism who is in love with fish … he also wants to be a marine biologist one day..
I have a red shoulder too he is my largest and he is such a gentle giant love him! I also have a green, torquis, gold red spotted, tiger, and a blue or another name for it is Heros sp. Madeira severum. Severums are my fav!

Cichlid bros channel has a 150 gallon with a few of these Walru and Sevrum as well pretty large too. Btw those green bamboo grew on me....I wasnt sure about them at first but I like them now.
Imperial Tropicals have such good fish. I was lucky enough to grab some red tiger and red shoulder rotkeils when they had them. They are doing great and can't wait for them to get full grown
IDK what I (or my fish) would do without you! Question on quarantine. I received my Imperial Tropicals delivery today and got 2 electric blue acaras, some pleco, 4 rams, 2 apistogramma, and 10 cherry barbs. Barbs are going on their own in a tank. Can I quarantine the rest together? Do we assume that if they come from the same breeder, they probably have the same illnesses if any? TIA!
Yes you can quarantine the rest together. It’s possible they could be carrying the same stuff but that’s why I like to auto medicate with Metroplex and Paraguard and cover all the bases. 😁 Congrats on your new members to the family!!
Hai kave man . I had 300 litres of golden arowana tank. Filtration type SUMP FILTER.For biological filtration i am using ceramic bio rings. After seeing your videos i planned to use seachem matrix. Right now my doubt is can use 1 litres of seachem matrix as per seachem instructions or 4 litres of seachem matrix bio media. And purigen also.
I’m going to be adding 6-8 discus in my tank in the next couple of weeks, can I dose the QC products into my tank? Will it affect the bio in the filter? Awesome video btw!

Wow Kev, Imperial tropicals is legit I have ordered fish from them before. I have a green and gold severum. Beautiful fish pay close attention to green severum and gold severum they can be a little more aggressive than the others. The green and gold one I have do show a tiny aggression but nothing serious. It is usually ends quickly. The whole hierarchy thing that you are already aware of. Appreciate you sharing the experience and new fish. Uaru. I have seen those cichlid bros added some to there tank. I did get 3 new fish a salvini, geophagus steindachi, and geophagus ac heckalai. They are in quarantine and in a grow out tank for now to put on some size. Love new fish. ❤😂
@KaveManAquatics , the rise of ammonia spikes when oxygen is introduced, the water is now very toxic, gill burn from that water is immediate. A few drops of prime takes that all away. The slime coat weakens and disease can set in. I never have to treat for illness. I use prime, stability and salt. Melifix if a fish gets beat up , that's it, please understand we can all learn here.
Hey Ray, if you're trying to convince me of how well Prime works, trust me you dont have to. If you look around my channel you'll understand why. I even have a video adding prime to fish bags after opening them for the exact same reason you stated. Just because I didnt do it here doesnt mean "I need to learn about it" But since you're trying to help me, I'll try to help you. Ammonia is non-toxic in low PH. Oxygen does not play a factor when PH is low. Ammonia becomes more toxic as PH rises. These fish are all low PH kept fish. The bucket was filled with low PH tank water. There was absolutely no threat of ammonia burn for the 2 minutes they were in the bucket before being added to the tank which did get prime. Which is why I wouldnt have done this method if they were African Cichlids in High PH water. They would have gotten netted and added directly to the tank dosed with prime. Hope that clears things up.
You bastard!!! You're the reason why I couldn't get the red shoulder severums!!! Lmao I just had an order come last Wednesday and need to make another.i had the turquoise and red spotted severum from them with red head tapajos. Beautiful. Also make sure that water is low GH and kh for them uaru (triangle) cichlids. I'm getting some in a few weeks once I get another 125 gallon. Anything above 7.6-7.8 could stress them out. They will do awesome with the severums. Rock on brother!! Now all you need is a central american cichlid tank!

YOu should be seeing some nitrate if your tank was cycled. If not, you may be doing your test incorrectly.

Hai kave man . I had 300 litres of golden arowana tank. Filtration type SUMP FILTER.For biological filtration i am using ceramic bio rings. After seeing your videos i planned to use seachem matrix. Right now my doubt is can use 1 litres of seachem matrix as per seachem instructions or 4 litres of seachem matrix bio media. And purigen also.
How much Matrix you need is entirely dependent on your bio-load. Purigen is used based on your total water volume.

Hey how about trying out Inirida Severum (Heros Sp. Inirida) i have one and its almost blue when it fully colors up not all of them get blue but still a great fish i know you will love it i have all the sevrums myself.
I got mine from my lfs but you can get them at predatory fins or I'm sure imperial tropical has them aswell

Imperial tropicals is legit I have ordered fish from them before. I have a green and gold severum. Beautiful fish pay close attention to green severum and gold severum they can be a little more aggressive than the others. The green and gold one I have do show a tiny aggression but nothing serious. It is usually ends quickly. The whole hierarchy thing that you are already aware of. Appreciate you sharing the experience and new fish. Uaru. I have seen those cichlid bros added some to there tank. I did get 3 new fish a salvini, geophagus steindachi, and geophagus ac heckalai. They are in quarantine and in a grow out tank for now to put on some size. Love new fish. ❤😂

Awesome, if you put a few drops of prime in bucket will opening bags the ammonia will be detoxified , you know this, why you didn't idk.
Didnt want to waste prime in the bucket. They were all in the same water parameters as the bag. I'd rather use the Prime in the tank.
@KaveManAquatics , the rise of ammonia spikes when oxygen is introduced, the water is now very toxic, gill burn from that water is immediate. A few drops of prime takes that all away.
The slime coat weakens and disease can set in. I never have to treat for illness.
I use prime, stability and salt. Melifix if a fish gets beat up , that's it, please understand we can all learn here.
Hey Ray, if you're trying to convince me of how well Prime works, trust me you dont have to. If you look around my channel you'll understand why. I even have a video adding prime to fish bags after opening them for the exact same reason you stated. Just because I didnt do it here doesnt mean "I need to learn about it"
But since you're trying to help me, I'll try to help you. Ammonia is non-toxic in low PH. Oxygen does not play a factor when PH is low. Ammonia becomes more toxic as PH rises. These fish are all low PH kept fish. The bucket was filled with low PH tank water. There was absolutely no threat of ammonia burn for the 2 minutes they were in the bucket before being added to the tank which did get prime.
Which is why I wouldnt have done this method if they were African Cichlids in High PH water. They would have gotten netted and added directly to the tank dosed with prime.

I just had an order come last Wednesday and need to make another.i had the turquoise and red spotted severum from them with red head tapajos. Beautiful.
Also make sure that water is low GH and kh for them uaru (triangle) cichlids. I'm getting some in a few weeks once I get another 125 gallon. Anything above 7.6-7.8 could stress them out. They will do awesome with the severums.
