Bev has two issues: 1) He thinks you get paid only for what you have done previously and not what you are now 2) It's in his best interest that players get paid because it helps him in future negotiations, not in terms of getting a max deal but raising the bar for everyone.

I've never been a James Harden fan (although I admire the man's tremendous skills) for 2 main reasons, he not only never played defense, he was too bored & unconcerned to even look like he might be trying to play defense. The other reason is for all the flopping. He is a strong dude, but a slight breeze would send him flying!
As for paying an aging player, who is slipping, big money, that's just crazy. Especially for someone who doesn't seem to be motivated to maintain his conditioning. Fat James of a couple of years ago was embarrassing & he needs to be lighter even now!
You’re right. I’m a Harden guy but it’s frustrating to see him this way, especially on the defensive side. After watching him play good defence throughout the whole bubble I thought he was actually starting to lock in mentally for the remainder of his aging career. Last season gave me hope but he just wasted this end of the season. Hope he picks it up again next year though
