National Park, one of the best songs from the Johto Pokemon games. I never really understood why this place was called a national park, but the music fits quite well. I took the intro form the HGSS version and turned it into a saxophone quintet arrangement to start off the tune. I believe I lost a bit of the intent of the beauty of the original in some parts, but the reharmonizations more than made up for it. Layering the electric piano and saxophone harmonies in tandem with the reharms using the Lydian scale turned out quite well. However, using these chords made it a bit difficult to pull off the piano solo on this track, there are a bunch of takes prior to the one that I used. In the future, I'm aiming towards telling more of a story with my arrangements. I felt that this tune had some great ideas and concepts, but sort of lacked a direction in which the song was going.
This was the first time I've used the Fathead mic on the bari. I'm still figuring out some optimal positioning for it to get as good of a sound as I can. I've begun to realize that the bari I have from my school is actually quite crap, so I doubt it will be making many more appearances in my future covers, it's just so hard to get a good sound out of! I also tried widening the drums and tried applying some stereo imaging to the track to widen the sound a little bit in an effort to continue to emulate the Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band sounds.

Your style and feel are that of someone well beyond your age. Keep it up kid, you're going places.
Thanks! I shall try my best to do so!
Dr. Pez blessings bro thats fuckin serious business
I read this 7 year old comment in 2022. And yea... he did go places. Fortunately he did :>
@@gamespy92 yes he did, man's a legend
This is like National Park got thrown into New Donk City.
Central Park?
Wish I had as much talent you have in just your pinkies.

if you know what i mean
That's what he said. (If you know what I mean)
Your metal cover of this song was pretty kickass.
insaneintherainmusic What do you use for recording?
This jazz cover is amazing. I love it. The saxophone harmonies and that piano solo are spectacular. Great work as always! :D
A wild Haedox appeared out of nowhere.
69th like.
Hi
It's about time I found someone that doesn't do the generic rock n' roll or techno cover of a song. Good on you, man!
I dont love nor hate rock n' roll but is that really common for this song? I just don't see it as the most likely way it could go is all.
I am simply curious.
@@lunk2569 almost every cover on youtubr is a metal cover and/or someone playing the melody with the guitar. It's so lack of creativity to be honest. Still beeing valid music but common guys do something else...
@@renattonunez517 so just because its a rock cover that means its generic holy shit that's stupid
Yeah because everyone loves calling electronic music techno
@@darknid158 as an electronic artist, your comment makes me feel seen and understood
2:49 to 3:23 oh lord I thought i lost myself that was amazing
That chord progression is so fun to solo over!
I agree, I always end up humming the tone when it comes on....Great execution!
Literally every time I listen to this I go insane because of how amazing that part is!
Just now watching this
+GlitchxCity you're in for it, this one is an oldie but a goodie
All I can say is that Nintendo should give you a job. Just... Wow.
+Kinaru Sheinto that'd be SICK
+insaneintherainmusic It's going to happen. The way you produce your music is incredibly professional, and you're building a portfolio that is on par with pro musicians from the video games industry. I already know people who worked on Final Fantasy XV soundtrack. I will not be surprised if one day you turned to us on Twitter/Facebook and said 'Guys, I can finally reveal to you that I have been working on the OST of Sun/Moon with Junichi Masuda.' You're definitely talented enough for it. It's just a matter of time.
insaneintherainmusic can you give me a couple suggestions for Vibroto I can never get it out well
Too bad Nintendo doesn't really appreciate UA-cam's content creators....
Curt Masengale Curt Masengale There are several ways, one is "like chewing something, saying AmAm this is for a bending-based vibrato" other is "like santaclaus say HoHoHo with your lunges this applys on a volume-based vibrato" there are others, with your tongue, throath, etc just repeat man, practice makes perfect. Good Luck!
I remember back the day having to just sit in this area for it's music... Literally there was no activity you could do without disabling the music, not even just bike around. It felt somewhat like the end of the game to me, not story wise of course, but very literally the border or something.
I feel you friend
same :)
Never before have I heard a jazz cover for this song...
Unexpected, but still surprisingly pleasing to the ear. IT'S AMAZING
+A Bad Meme Not too many people really expect to see jazz covers floating around the internet, but judging from my comments, they're often pleasantly surprised.
well there are 2 more jazz covers of this song now, not the least of which is another cover done by Insaneintherain

I bought your Hoenn album and please do a Johto album!
*Throws money at screen*
Insaneintherain classic. After all these years, it's still one of the best!
I would love to use this for some grinding montages! Hope you dont mind haha
I hate it when people try to do pop covers of new songs nowadays on the saxophone. I don't know that's just how I feel about that. this is one of the only channels I can rely on anymore for quality saxophone playing. Jazz on dude
UA-cam User Andy I've never been a fan of pop covers really. I did a few back in the day but since then I've strayed away from that kinda thing. Not a fan of the stereotypical metal mouthpiece reverb heavy kenny g style pop covers.
insaneintherainmusic
Even though I have a metal mouthpiece I feel the same way haha.
His production quality has just been getting better now with those new blue mouth pieces. So clean sounding.
Wow man, that's some talent! Jazz is such a beautiful genre, it can really soothe the nerves. Your videos just keep getting better and better!
Lord Deviljho Thanks man! It's what I aim to do :)
Deviljho, the fuck, shouldnt you be killing Great Jaggis and Qurupecos? You pickle
Glacies1799 Or pesky hunters.
Lord Deviljho Like if dealing with you guys if good enough
Cameron Hall One does not simply say that jazz is awful
This is by far my favourite rendition of this song.. Such a pleasure to watch and listen to! Thank you so much for this
I FFFUUUUUUUUUCKING love jazz. I FFFUUUUUUUUUCKING love pokemon. you sir, have made a man happy. This is magnigicent, and so are you.
Wow can't believe I've missed out on this for so many years. Somehow my most recent nostalgia run brought me here (and I'm thankful for that). This was insanely well done. 10/10
Have you thought about doing more from GSC? Most of the tracks from that were pretty spectacular to start with, and I'd love to hear your take on them, especially Olivine City's tune.
Ah, this song. I'd just stand there doing nothing and enjoy the music. And you just made it something jazzy. Thank you good sir.
After Precipitation came out, I had to come back to this song.
Heavy doubts but really hope one day Game Freak might make a Pokemon Sound Bank with all the recent, old and unused songs, there are so many good classic and memorable songs.
The ultimate super music collection.... one can dream.
Dude you kick ass! The way you intertwine the up beat playfulness with a smooth relaxation is absolutely gorgeous. I'm gonna love listening to your future music when your famous.
This is such a gorgeous rendition of this song. National Park is one of my all-time favourite Pokemon songs and this jazzy version gives me life.
One of my favorite covers from your older songs. Really dig the live recording you did with others too (RIP bass player haha ), but this is the epitome of your VGM covers. Will be listening to it for years to come, well done!
Your originality and attention to detail is amazing.
Holy smokes, this is fantastic! National Park has always been one of my favourite tracks from Pokemon, and you've done it so much justice.
I'm no John Marshall, I am unable to do justice in the domain of the supreme court
(oh my god that's probably the worst joke I've made on this channel brb bye internet)
insaneintherainmusic omg
I got introduced to this channel by a good friend and I've been listening to your amazing covers all night! I stopped on this one because this, by far, is a theme most nostalgic to my heart, and you manage to take the chiptune and soundfonts and create truly wonderful masterpieces. You are a true artist.
this gives me life, best cover of this song by far
Love this Jazz life is remix gives me the idea of a lite up National Park at night
I can't really describe how much joy I felt listening to this. It was always one of my favorite songs in the pokemon series :)
Man, you're an inspiration. I play the tenor sax, and I was honestly thinking about quitting, but the fact that songs can be transformed from beeps into this masterpiece has given me hope. Thank you so much! Also, I see that WSU hoodie. I live near Seattle. If you ever want to chill, hit me up. Again, thank you for everything you've done for me, and keep up the amazing work!
+emeraldragon I'm so glad that I've helped convince you to keep on saxin'! I do live in the Seattle area. If I ever do a live show around here, i'm bankin on you to show up ;)
+insaneintherainmusic I showed your National Park video to a friend of mine and he said he recognized you from a Bellevue music festival XD
+emeraldragon Oh wow! If you want to private message me, I'd love to see I could figure how I know whoever you're talking about!
this is still incredibly amazing. you’ve improved so much and gone so far.
Absolutely lovely. Brought back so many memories!
This is SO fantastic!
National Park is my favorite track from GSC games. You have my infinite respect!
First I dig around your covers and find National Park. Now you're telling me that you made it even better? I'm sorry that's simply too much.
insaneintherainmusic knocking it out of the ballpark yet again. Every single time. What CAN'T you do?
baseball
This is my favorite song from any Pokémon game, and you cover it fabulously. I have an acute anxiety disorder and when I struggle with it, I like to put this video on loop. It always wards away my bad feelings, in the end. You've done this piece a great justice, and I can't thank you enough for sharing this.
Thanks so much dude! I'm so happy to help! I have periods where I have been known to experience large amounts of anxiety as well, and music is definitely a calming force in those tumultuous times!
I showed your channel to my band teacher and got extra credit before the official school year even started. Thanks!
Now that's a good way to get a 101 in band.
I really am exquisite this remastering of the National Park song is quite relaxing really thanks for showing your talent in this way
i remembered why i love this channel
This is a really good cover of one of my favorite songs. The progression is nice and instruments blend well together. I also like how it fits the atmosphere of the park perfectly.
Thank you!
wow. Magnificent~!~~ You got a subscriber! I could listen to this for hours!
Just in time before I went to bed! Haha. Sickk man, much respect. Pokémon tunes have a special place in ma heart :')
This is my favorite of your covers so far!
This is my favorite pokemon song. Thank you for doing this, I really appreciate it.
Glad I discovered you a few weeks back. And this song has been stuck in my head, perfecting timing for you to post :P
Mmm... loving that groovy jazz piano riff. Serenaded my ears with some sweet jams before school. :)
That sax really hit the strings of my soul and played me like a fiddle god damn this is good and I dont really know how to put my thoughts into a coherent thought but good job on this and really all of your other music Its all damn fantastic
Looking foward for your fourth cover of this song, my all time favourite.
My favorite video game song ever. Thanks for this man you did perfect!
+DrPepperDERF No prob!
so majestic!
Amazing! GSC has such an incredible soundtrack, so jazzy, a surprising growth from R+B's.
Coming back to my most favorite song after 5 years and it still sounds amazing. Keep up the good work man. :)
Just jaw dropping. You made a brazilian man very happy today. Thanks, sir.
Thanks, greetings from the US!
You literally cover all of my favorite songs are we the same person XD
+Weston Moulton ayyyyyy
+insaneintherainmusic I am two and we are one. I am not goku nor vegeta!
I'm getting nostalgia chills running up and down my spine. Love it.
The nostalgia from hearing this cover makes me want to play Crystal again
Nice soloing on the end, as always
+Chad Lewis Thanks!
That piano segment starting at 2:12 was delectable. I loved it.
Really that was my least favorite part. It felt off and weird and sounded like a lot of wrong key tones
Sorry you felt that way! All the notes that were played were perfectly fine in the key. There were a few that could sound "off" if you didn't listen to them as leading tones (notes that went straight into another note). If you're interested in why it felt a particular way to you, Coursera has a great jazz improv class (free!!) taught by the legendary Gary Burton. www.coursera.org/learn/jazz-improvisation
Thank you for doing such an amazing jazz cover of my favourite track from that generation! Long time fan, keep up the great work dude :)
Lost track of how many times I listened to this while recreating National Park in New Horizons. Well done man! Love your channel. Keep up the phenomenal work! : )
It’s been 3 weeks, are you done yet?
Haya AlMulla of my National Park? I finished it before I left this comment, but have since recreated my island 💖
Tykutso I bet it looks wonderful!
One of my favorite Gen 2 songs!! and that end bit was amazing!
Beautifully done! Enjoying it so much right now
4:46 Oh my god the goosebumps I get when I get to this part of the cover.
National Park is my favorite Pokémon song. If I could give this a thousand "likes", I would. Amazing!
You've got yourself a subscriber :)
Your channel really is a hidden gem!
:)))) Such a great pick and romantic song. Love dem Lydians too
Who's Lydian and how can I get her number?
You took one of my favorite pieces of video game music and one of my favorite musical genres and combined them beautifully, like a Reese's peanut butter cup in musical form.
+TackyRackyComixNEO Wow that's like the best analogy ever. Damn.
Heh. Glad you liked that.
Wow thats so amazing. You guys have amazing music and great talent. INCREDIBLE WORK!
Thank you!
What a classic!!! I liked it so!!!
Woah, sooo beautiful! You're definetely my favourite music youtuber!
Him and Brentalfloss are mine.
So beautiful!
You have earned my uttermost admiration.
ThePianoish Wow, thanks! The power of music...
All of your arrangements are very good, but this one in particular really stands out to me. Great phrasing, just great all around. I hope you keep pursuing music because you'll go very far.
This would sound even more insane with a bit of brass added in. Still a very very great arrangement and performance!
I love the bari call and response at 1:01!
Another amazing jazz cover :). I'm just blown away at how amazing you sound, and being only 16 is way too impressive. I showed some of your tracks to my band director, and he was blown away too. You've just got incredible sound, arranging skills, style, etc., and honestly, I'm pretty damn jealous
Are you Sab Irene?
Needs more views. Too beautiful for just a shy of 10,000 veiws.
It's at 183k now. Still needs more, though. And yes, I know I'm replying to a 3-year-old comment.
My favorite song in all of pokemon its great to see others appreciate as much as me
It's such a great tune!!
This is so amazing!

You did this song a service.
Oh my gosh it's so nostalgic
This is definitely one of my favorite Pokémon covers by you. I think I'm addicted to it, especially that one little part from 1:09--1:16
You play that thing at master level.
+Eduardo Thomé Didn't even catch it in a master ball.

So beautiful...
Smooth as silk!
You're so talented brother. Keep at it
dat solo tho! I've been into covers of this song since Jules' one, and I've loved every single one of them. The piano cover you did was also amazing!
now back to jules' cover! haha :D
For an Alto Saxophone, would I just knock the notes down a key? Or leave it and have it sound fairly high pitched?
I've been learning for a little bit now, so I just thought it would be cool to try to play this song (this is also my favorite of your Jazz covers anyway :3)
dinkleberg...
I assume this is your favorite of the pokemon themes as you have covered it 3 times? (I don't blame you)
It's a REALLY GOOD THEME.
+insaneintherainmusic Damn right it is.
Hell yeah. When I was a kid, I use to go there and sit there just to listen to this song! BTW Subscribed!
Best reading music for me cuz its smooth af
