The small one is the actual card (called a micro SD card) with the actual memory capacity that you will be making use of
The big one you put the small one into is actually an adapter that I personally like to call a card reader simply cause of what it does.. It makes the small card big enough to be readable by a machine which doesn't have a dedicated sd card slot, as for this camera I'm pretty sure the card slot won't need an adapter as its already small and fit for use
One thing you gotta make sure of is that when you're purchasing an SD card for a particular device check the capacity that the device can hold and according to that buy the card
Suppose your device supports 32 gb cards only, if you put a 64gb card into it, the device won't be able to read it though the card would fit in the slot perfectly.
The SD card no matter what capacity you buy 16gb 32gb 64 128 256 512 or a terabyte that is 1024gb is of the same size (in SD card configuration), but you gotta choose which memory capacity is feasible for your needs and the needs of your device.
Device specification can tell you such details about your device whereas when you buy the actual card itself you just gotta specify what capacity you're looking for and you'll be good to go, an advice from me would be regardless of what brand you go for get a high speed sd card so that memory transfers become smoother and quicker, generally the speed is specified in the specification section of the SD card itself. Do not be intimidated by all this information it's really easy once you involve yourself. Good luck. Oh yeah, sandisk and Samsung I've used these brands and they're durable and speedy enough I'd say but if you can get some other brand for cheaper you may go for it especially if it provides even faster read and write rates (speeds).
