Lucinda Berry is an incredible author. Saving noah is probably her most disturbing book. You'll get every emotion in that book. The perfect child is amazing too
“I am fighting Libby,” lol story of my life. I’m sure you’ve heard about Saving Noah. It’s disturbing and heartbreaking..I think I got through it in a day on audio on Everand. Still just thinking about that book gives me feelings. I think it’s the best of hers I’ve read. I used to be scared to read Theme Music because of the other cover, if you look it up it’s creepy, and people kept saying it was so disturbing. I got the audio months ago and still haven’t finished it, so far wasn’t disturbed, it does feel a tad long, but I’m hoping to finish it this year.
Dark and disturbing thriller recs. Danish author Sara Blædel is my #1 rec, "The Forgotten Girls" "The Night Women" and "Call Me Princess" would be my top 3 in order of most distubing to slightly less disturbing. You could try "Zombie" by Joyce Carol Oates or "The Laws of the Skies" by Gregoire Courtios for a couple short ones.
Lucinda Berry is actually a former psychologist and leading researcher in childhood trauma. I think her books are very interesting and thought provoking considering her former profession.

I felt the same way about Theme Music. I read it pretty quickly, but it was perfectly middle of the road for me.

Have you read The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson? You might be interested as you liked Appetite for Innocence. Similar vibes
I read it probably 5 years ago at this point! I think it would be interesting to do a reread
