  • Got another video up in here. Downloads below for not horrible quality and no sync issues.
    CAST:
    Cobra: Me
    1st person Eagle: Me
    3rd person Eagle which tumbles and then explodes: SkranksMateria (my brother)
    DOWNLOADS:
    If your PC is weak, take the 720p version. If you got a high resolution monitor, pick the 1440p version. Otherwise there's a 1080p version. Every version is 60 fps.
    1440p:
    mega.nz/#!2BEw...
    1080p:
    mega.nz/#!LZVz...
    720p (warning, looks nearly as bad as youtube):
    mega.nz/#!bcdz...
    And here's a vid about how some of this stuff was done: • I'm doing it
    Best Video Game Video at NDK AMV Contest 2015
    Special thanks to Skypalu/Rivurivu/Eodynn (pick one) for helping with the audio in this one. Also thanks to EllipseIris, Centurione and Lapskaus for betatesting.
    The music is from the original soundtrack from the video game "Mirror's Edge" and was made by Solar Fields.
    One part of the music (starts at 4:00) was not included in the official soundtrack, so I ripped this part from the game with this tool: blog.gib.me/200... Thanks for creating it, Rick.
    The video footage was recorded from the PC game Elite: Dangerous (it's also available for XBone now). I recorded it with fraps at 1440p 60fps. To save space, some scenes were recorded at 5 or 10 fps and then later interpolated to 60fps in the final video.

    Longtime former player of Elite here. I haven't touched the game since late last year after spending about 7 years playing it. And I always come back to this video, because it captures the purest parts of the game for me. The things I loved most about it.
    Sadly it's never going to be like it was, but this video is always going to remind me of those early days when Elite was still something truly special to me.
    Great video. One of my all time favorites.

    Masterfully edited as always, this was incandescently beautiful, I can only admire how the video and audio were in perfect harmony with one another, but nothing is more impressive than your unique creativity and vision that allows you to picture and create something this enthralling, the way it makes your mind go blank as it takes you into a distorted reality created by your imagination and inner workings of your mind instantly gives this video your distinguished style stample, the video might be 6 minutes long, but it stays with you long after its over and inevitably keeps you coming back.
    Thank you for the video.

    • @lolligerjoj1
      @lolligerjoj1  8 років тому

      Recorded with fraps.
      My specs are:
      i7 5820k (6x ~3,4 GHz)
      GTX 980 HOF Edition
      32 GB DDR4 RAM
      The RAM and the 6 cores are mostly for editing, so don't get things like this if you wanna play games only.

    • @riklordrd
      @riklordrd 8 років тому

      Haha I understand, tried to record some footage yesterday with my i5 4690k but couldn't get the best quality without frame drops in the footage. More cores should help with this.

    • @lolligerjoj1
      @lolligerjoj1  8 років тому +2

      No I don't think specifically more cores would help. It's more likely that the drive you're recording on is too slow. It is highly recommended to record onto a SSD.

    So beautiful! I watched in 50% speed and I was so impressed how you synced all the little sounds to the time-remapping (or echo effect duno), like 3:06 for example, even with headphones I find it hard to pinpoint all the subliminal sounds, did you place markers after dragging the cursor with ctrl? did you slow down the song to hear it bettr? or did you use an extra software besides after effects to find all those sounds to sync it so well? I'm very curious to know your method

    • @lolligerjoj1
      @lolligerjoj1  7 років тому +2

      Hey thanks! Yeah I really enjoy watching my videos at slow motion as well :P
      I also like to watch my preview renders from my videos to notice some sync opportunities that don't really show themselves obviously at full speed.
      For the subliminal sounds, I did indeed animate one Slider control property to the music at like 25% speed in AE. Because these parts repeat themselves, I only really did it for a few bars and then let them repeat. Some parts had some small variations that I had to take care of as well.
      Since the slider control effect doesn't show itself in the video, I link some very obvious movement to it, like a huge rotating bar made from a mask, to really make the nuances of the animation obvious while syncing. Only after that I link the property to those effects that are supposed to be modulated with this animation.
      Btw here's how it looks like in the keyframe editor:
      cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/264525525744222210/324930238452727809/unknown.png

      @Chloe-em5ux 7 років тому

      Oh thank you very much for the explanation, and very smart solution! Re-watching your videos in slow motion really let's you appreciate how perfect it's all synced, they're like audio visualizers. Hope to see more from you!
