You continue to inspire us and bring joy to the world, dear Susan. I love your Impressionist style and I’m learning from you to develop my own. Thank you 🙏🏻
I find myself always so inspired by your beautiful painterly style. And yet again here is another! I am so grateful to you Susan as I'm loving doing these! Also want to mention, im very touched by the Ukrainian artist you speak of here as the people of Ukraine are always in my thoughts and prayers in these days.
Bless you so much Lesya. I often think of people like you whenever things get hard. I’m always so encouraged by the strong spirit of those who are in such tragic circumstances. I pray the Lord, brings peace to Ukraine soon and that he will protect you and your family through this.
I have used clear gesso for yrs. For this very reason😁 I also use white gesso on my drawing paper pad to do oil paintings leave them open til it drys and put a piece of wax paper between pages when I close the sketch pad. Love your Videos your adoribable. And I love my bracelet really smells wonderful when I'm painting. Thank you for sharing your talent. ❤ from Mississippi
Dawn, that’s some great information about regular gesso on drawing paper using oil paint. I don’t paint with oils a lot, but that sounds like something I’d like to try. And my husband was born and raised in Tupelo Mississippi. He’s got that awesome Mississippi accent still.
Hullo Susan, wonderful painting and excellent technique adding clear Liquitex gesso! I have used rough watercolor papers for my soft pastel practice, whenever I need a bit more “tooth” on these not truly for pastels papers, I use Krylon workable fixative to finish the painting! Marla Baggetta has shown viewers how to use drawing papers by BFK to try color studies and general practice too! I had an e-Bay bid on a used set of the Maggie Price Ludwig pastels but they got to more than a new set! So I gave up. I believe that set would be my first Terry Ludwig purchase! Although the set curated by Karen Margulis might be right there too! Thank you for this wonderful video and please keep sharing your thoughts and ideas with us. Have a lovely day!
Hello my friend… Thanks so much and I have some of that Krylon workable fixative. I’ve seen Marla Baggetta use it. That’s crazy that the Terry Ludwig set that’s so expensive on eBay. I too want to get the Terry Ludwig set by Karen Margulis. Hopefully one day soon! As always, thanks for your encouraging and wonderful comments.
Yay! This is a great tip. By the way, I noticed that other brands of clear gesso are not so textured as Liquitex. For me, Liquitex clear gesso creates the best surface. I tried it on toned paper (grey, tan, blue) and it worked so well. I enjoyed your tutorial!
lovely painting! i tried with the regular gesso and some fine pumice, but i keep getting those brush lines and it's abit frustrating.. what tool can i use to have more consistent and flat surface, paint roller perhaps?
Isn't it rewarding Susan, that you are spreading peace and love with your gift❤
This is a really sweet painting.
How sweet of you to say, Mary! Bless you, and it is indeed rewarding.

Thanks so much for sharing that, Berolina. I have actually only used Liquitex so that's good to know!

I sometimes use a foam brush. This creates a smoother surface 👍🏻☺️
