    Such a great explanation of polycystic kidney disease! You’ve made a complex condition easy to understand, and the information is incredibly helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge-this is a must-watch for anyone wanting to learn more about PKD

    Excellent, especially your mentioning keto diet and time-restricted eating. I've done both and reversed the course of my illness, both my kidney and heart have gone from failure to functioning normally now. I'm off all meds, with minimal symptoms, and eGFR of 84 at age 66. I wrote about how. I'll post it in a reply (free). Cheers.

    Been crippled by this for years and it's made my life a living hell. My grandfather gave it to my dad and him to me and me to both my son's. I can't keep a steady job and can't seem to get any help, I just wish i could be normal but this is my cross to bare I guess.

      As stated in the video Tolvaptan has been passed for uk use in recent years and has been available in other countries longer. On it you have to consume a larger amount of water everyday which forces you to urinate more frequently helping reduce the time toxins remain in the kidney.
      Blood pressure medication is used to help reduce and control the high blood pressure. Reducing it helps less cysts to form as quickly.
      A number of other medications are prescribed to combat other side effects that come with PKD.
      As there is no cure most cases lead to patients receiving a form of dialysis for life or if they are lucky enough to receive a transplanted kidney.

    What if it is from birth..is there a cure

    • @xanderbridgeman
      @xanderbridgeman Рік тому

      No cure currently. As stated in the video some things can slow the progression of the disease but everyone is different in how much it helps.
      Sufferers of the disease mostly end up on one form of dialysis or join the transplant list to receive a donation or in some cases a family member/friend would donate a kidney.

      Our baby girl had this in womb. Imagine normal kidneys of baby are size of first joints of adult thumbs. Now put your hands into fists. Our baby had two like that kidneys. No room for other organs to grow. She died on birth and we buried her next to her cousin week later. She w'd have Been 20 last yr.

    Way over my head. My daughter was recently diagnosed with PKD. I was seeking education and explanation for my lay person brain. This was so confusing for me. I will need to seek something more basic.

    "...the normal functional unit of the kidney is the nephron (no idea what that is) made up of glomerulus (no idea what that is) and Bowman's capsule proximal convoluted tubule loop (.....EHM....SAY WHAT !???) ". FFS, at least at to the subtitle "medical terms only", so that the regular Joe don't end up wasting their time on this. 🤣
