The Prisoner Intro

- A parody of The Prisoner opening sequence, starring me as no. 6. I love this show, Patrick Mcgoohan co-created, wrote, edited, directed and acted in the episodes. To those of you who have no clue about The Prisoner, check it out. To The Prisoner fans, I'm sure you will find this amusing. It took 2 weeks to make due to lack of location. And yes, this is cheesy as crap- I made it that way on purpose. Be seeing you!
I’m 73 and a lifelong fan of The Prisoner. This is so darn clever. First time I ever left a comment for a video.
Of course, ...so why did you retire?....
Number 73, welcome back to the island, I hope the balloon wasn't too firm with you. You may comment as you wish here.
Way to go, pap!
Yup, it never goes away does it? I'm 71 and watched The Prisoner in awe as a teen. Although it made little sense at the time, everyone was expecting some kind of explanation in the final episode. Up in arms when it just added to the mystery! got the box-set now and it still works.
I'm 56 and an on again off again "fan" of The Prisoner, but once they got you, you can never truly leave the village. It's all around us. Here's the secret they never tell you. The information you have, that they need, is the only thing that keeps you alive. Tell them what you know, and the jig is up. However, if you don't tell them? Well. Here's hoping you like cheese. We're all rats in a maze here, and the maze is inside our minds. Sanity is not a commodity, and it sure as hell isn't a luxury. Be seeing you.
The youtube algorithm is truly a strange and wondrous thing. 15 years on, and this little wonder of video appears... Bravo!
Likewise!
Same here. Big fan of the series and was just thinking about a re-watch and this shows up. Really well done.
Yeah, did for me last night.
I think there must be a human choosing certain older videos to bring to our attention.
@@RohanSJ I'd really not want to think it was AI we were dealing with... that's a different form of prison for sure.
"I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered. My lawnmower is my own.”
It's June 2023, and I've just stumbled across this absolutely brilliant parody - just superb. Jess, I dont know if you still check back to this, all these years later - but my thanks to you all for bringing a big smile to this old Prisoner fan's face. You made my day.
Be seeing you. 😀👌👌👌
Wow! I hadn't checked the comments on this video in about 2 years... How cool to have people still watching this old parody. Was thinking about making an Avengers parody (*cough* 6 years later *cough*)
Really, thanks everyone for all the love. BCNU
A Prisoner fan AND an Avengers fan. At least we have that in common. Well done.
Jess Erskine.... Run! You clever Girl!
Applause!!!!
Jess Erskine just as long as you wear the leather catsuit
Jess Erskine yes do it
Jess Erskine went to port Merion were it was filmed great loved Patrick magooan what about danger man tezterance england
I can't explain why this genius short came to my attention 15 years later, but I can tell you that every young film student should be shown this and be given the assignment: "Go forth and do thou likewise." This is just so fun and intelligent.
I would watch THE ENTIRE SERIES like this.
GOD DAMN. Meeeee tooooo.
So would I...
Sign me up!
Even just a single episode!
@@johnmullen2537 Over the years various people involved in "Fallout" have said that McGoohan was actually making it up as they were filming it.
I was never really a fan of the show but I find everything to do with the making of it fascinating.
Thanks for posting !!
One more who saw this in May of 2024. Well done~~~
I can't "like" this thing strongly ENOUGH. Just ran across it by accident. Nice to find something that has me laughing out loud in the morning instead of cursing the Fates that drive us or worse.
This one goes up to eleven.
You describe my feelings exactly.
Wait 'till ther's a porno parody of it...
I love that the intro gives away the twist at the beginning of every episode.
"Who is #1?"
"You are, #6."
Only 30 years later I finally get the double meaning. and thanks to a girl and her tractor no less.
I go to Orange Theory Classes. I always sign in to station 6 for this reason.
I didn't get it until I was playing the Prisoner game on an Apple II computer in 1981 or 82. When I saw that text on the screen it was an OMG moment :)
Quite! It was him, all along.
I chuckled until the see-saw, then I burst out laughing like a Leo McKern.
Excellent! Ten out of ten, or six out of six.
Well, this pretty much made my week. Love the homage.
wow I LOVED your parody. Magnificent!!
Why has it taken 15 years for this to appear on my feed? This is bloody brilliant!
I'm imagining Patrick McGoohan smiling that slight, closed-lip smile of his and nodding once in approval from beyond the grave.
LoL...she's putting a picture of Patrick McGoohan in her luggage
Nice going!
As John Drake!
Nice touch
@@seanryan3020 The line between the Prisoner and Drake was always deliberately blurred and some episodes did relate to Danger Man stories.
@@colinp2238 Yeah. I liked the blurring, but ultimately my opinion is that the Prisoner was not John Drake because a.) the difference in accent between the 2 characters and b.) Drake definitely worked for the UN, and No. 6 seemed to work for some branch of the British Secret Service.
Patrick Mcgoohan made the simple act of opening doors & getting out of cars look epic lol! Well done with this it looked great!
I about lost it when I saw the see-saw
We lost it.
You had me with the mower.
Yes, many such touches make this a gem.
I couldn't wait to see what she did with the Rover. I wasn't disappointed, though I thought it would come out of a water pump, a well, or a stock tank.
Same! Quite hilarious!
"And the award for Best Use of Playground Equipment goes to . . . Jess Erskine!"
What a lovely tribute... and it's really great to see that there are Prisoner fans out there who were not yet alive when it first aired. Thanks, Jess, for continuing to carry the torch.
Excellent Jess! As one of those that first saw the Prisoner when it first came over, I truly appreciate your intro!
As an avid fan of 'The prisoner,' I absolutely cracked up - you definitely paid attention to the detail. Very well done xx
Also nailed the “Albertus” font!!! Kudos!!!
I'm a big fan of "The Prisoner" TV series. All I can say is ...................Absolutely brilliant! Be seeing you.
Big prisoner fan from the 60s .I just came across this by accident on my smartphone and it is absolutely hysterical. a gold star for this one. I think someone else mentioned in the comments but if you if you watch quickly you'll see her put a sketch of Patrick mcgoohan in her suitcase.
I noticed that, Eugene - nice touch.
There are no accidents
You would make a superb Emma Peel. This was awesome!
She does resemble Mrs Peel
I see more of a Tara King in her myself.
@@grahamspragg7494 A combination of the best features of each.
PRISONER SPOILER!!!
I was thinking "Number Fifty-Eight" in Episode Four, played by Rachel Herbert*. She's so cute but turns out so merciless.
(* Happened to have seen that episode yesterday )
May 2024, and I've just discovered this. This made me smile more than anything I've seen on UA-cam in ages. I laughed out loud in a few places, the POV over the hood of the tractor, the hand canceling of the photograph, and the photograph moving along the clothesline were my favorite bits!
Magnificent. This is what UA-cam is for. Brava!
@DMaustrap1 Bruh that hurts but it's so true.
Amazing! How can I not have seen this in the past 15 years? Thanks so much for the parody/tribute, from someone who has been a fan since the opening sequence of the premier episode.
I watch this about once a year and still find it utterly hilarious and perfect
Such a great job!
Yep. Same.
Also, same
And same! Once a year maybe...
I've had it buried amongst random browser tabs for *years*, it's a nice surprise to randomly stumble across it & have a laugh rewatching :)
15 years later and this is still amazing. Great interpretative choice.
I found this totally by accident, and I am so impressed! I first watched "The Prisoner" when it was a summer replacement show in 1968. You made a great parody obviously based on respect and admiration.
Doesn't matter that I found this almost a decade later. you are now my favorite youtuber.
me just found it 2!
Your Rover won me over.
I just love this! You did so much with so little with some nice touches of the person walking up to Number Six's house being dressed like him and the sketch of McGoohan as John Drake going into the suitcase. Using a Chevy HHR as the hearse was brilliant. Very creative how you tried to replicate the different bits of the opening sequence. I saw The Prisoner in the summer of 1968 and then again in the late 70's. Still a huge fan today. Found your video by pure accident in 2022.
Remarkable. Given my love of the show, i was dubious-all the way up until the wigwams. The teeter-totter sealed the deal, for me. Brilliant!
A very nice job on the opening credits, too.
Really? My first belly laugh was the tractor, and they just kept coming. Still the single funniest thing on You Tube, after all these years (although of course you need to be a Prisoner fan to get it).
Very good, you deserve a million views for this gem! Never take it down
Haha brilliant! especially the Patrick McGoohan photo in the suitcase
Brilliant! Just Brilliant! Patrick McGoohan would definitely approve! We Prisoner fans love this. Wish I thought of it. The Avengers intro is a great idea too.
After all these years I still have a smile watching that vid, great work!
Love the hand-written ‘Xs’ on the photo, and the use of the washing line - brilliant!
Excellent attention to detail. This tickled me so much, I had to watch it again immediately. I also love The Prisoner. Be seeing you.
That brought me to tears two different ways. Hysterically with melancholy. Nice work.
god this looks like it must have been fun to make XD it's awesome! Even as a parody, it captures the feel of the show perfectly
Amazing! Brilliant! Brought back a shard of my childhood! I've always been a fan of Patrick McGoohan! Thank you so much!
Well done. Thank you for the smile
I just discovered this today and it made my day. You managed to capture each beat perfectly. As I was watching it, I thought “so, what’s she gonna do for the village when she gets to that part of the opening” and you pulled it off. Then, I thought “What about Rover?” and you pulled it off. Cheers!
Very well done. Its more of a homage then a parody.
I've just discovered this. I'm lucky enough to have seen the series as a thirteen-year-old when it was first broadcast in the UK. The whole concept of the story has shaped my life. When I saw this, the tears were rolling down my cheeks I laughed SO much. An absolute masterpiece. VERY well done!! Thank you.
just brilliant, I am a fan of the series and watched it when it was first broadcast------ahead of its time etc. etc.
Same here
Secret agent man part two
From someone who loves the series - this is inspired and screamingly funny ! “Be Seeing You!”
You are NO.1! Great!!
from Japan
Wow. Well done. I stumbled across this (12 years later) like so many others and what a delight! Congrats.
8 years have now elapsed and this is still brilliant !
Time has flown!
It's been ELEVEN years now. I'm just delighted that UA-cam's algorithm decided that I should see this, otherwise I never would have known of it. I hope that you've since found many ways to express your creativity, even if we don't see evidence here on your UA-cam channel.
I've just seen this (June 2024) for the first time. An excellent production. Thank you so much.
YOU are number 1!
Loved it - be seeing you.
It's a long time since anything made me laugh so much that it set my asthma off, but that "Resigned" file did it! After recently escaping a lifetime of office work, it was so relatable.
Excellent stuff.
Ha - loved this . . . best prisoner opening parody ever
Just found this! BRILLIANT! I remember watching the Prisoner when i was 9 years old with my family. Have never forgotten it -We thought it was amazing then. Thanks for making this- wish I'd found it sooner. Well done.
Accurate reproduction of THE coolest TV show opening in history, The Prisoner. Dramatic with just the right touch of folk art. Well done! :D
when she gets knocked over by rover! LOVE IT
OMG! This is so hilarious! You had me crying!! 😁
OUTSTANDING! Wherever he is, Patrick Mcgoohan is proud of you!
This is great ..well done PM would be proud.
I love the Prisoner and I was born in 1988! I hope future generations will still watch this amazing show.
I watched The Prisoner as a summer replacement on PBS when I was a first-year student in high school. To say it made an impression is an understatement. I have the series on VHS, DVD, and as a digital file. And this parody made me laugh out loud. You even got the typeface correct on the credits! Thank you for this wonderment!
Took me 15 years to find this and OMG it is fantastic! Jess Erskine, you are amazing!
I've only just found this. Made 11 years ago (2020) and is excellent. A superb parody and so well made. The concrete 'wigwams' remind me of the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, Arizona.
Oh man !!! I haven’t smiled so much in YEARS !!! Well done !!! Love the mimicked camera angles !!! Great !!!
Outstanding, hahaha. A labour of love. Right down to the sneakers. I hope getting whacked by the balloon wasn't too painful.
Watching and loving this in 2020. Bet you didn't expect folks to still watch and love this 11 years later, Jess!
this was the funniest thing I've seen on UA-cam in yrs thanx alot
Okay, this has got to be at least 10 years old. But every time I watch it I marvel at how damn funny this is and all the work that must have went in to the production. So funny!
This is amazing, well done Jess Erskine.
Faithful to the original. Excellent work.
OMG, you are brilliant!
Wow! Brilliant. Took us over ten years to come across this but amazing job. Timing, credits, lawn mower, wigwams, photo x'ed out and pulled on a string, ROVER,... Everything was just amazing. Can't say well done enough. Thanks again.
You madam, are a bloody genius, really enjoyed that :-)
Extra points for nailing the ‘getting out of the car looking furious’ expression.
Funny! But, you didn't break the saucer under the tea cup.
Nobody is perfect. 🙂
@@egon4593 It was her mother's tea service. Even Coppola and George Lucas have their red lines.
Brilliant. The Prisoner had the greatest opening of any series ever, and this was the best laugh I've had for weeks. Full marks.
Dear Ms. Eskine, I was delighted to find your excellent video after re-watching the original Prisoner opening.Thank you, very much ! Your passion is inspiring, and I am very glad that someone of your generation can, "Get IT."
And here I sit, discovering the video for the first time 12 years after it was posted. Very well done! The teeter-totter killed me.
This may be the greatest thing ever! Certainly it's better than the Jim Caviezel/Ian McKellen miniseries...
Very Very clever. I particularly like your attention to the detail of the light and shadow during the "corridor" scene. Very well done.
I just watched The Prisoner for the first time ever, and I absolutely love this parody 😂
I just stumbled upon this video and I absolutely love it. Awesome work. This is one of my all time favorite shows even though I wasn't alive when it came out. With the heaviness of a war going on right now, this video put a much needed smile on my face.
I was a society member in the 90s and all I can say is brilliantly done, and thanks for the memories!
Huge fan of The Prisoner here and I appreciated this so much Jess. Every second that you put into this was worth it. The see-saw was probably the biggest laugh from me.
A loving tribute to the original. Brought a smile to this longtime fan's face. Many thanks!
That’s so cool… I love the WigWam village deputising for Portmeirion, great job!
Brilliant. As a fan of the series since my childhood in the 70s I am qualified to say this is superb. Sending gratitude from southern California. 🤭☀️🙏🏻
Whoever you are, you are absolutely amazing and I love you. This is brilliant. I was eight years old when that show aired in the United States. Been a fan ever since.
Love it!!
Takes a lot to make me laugh out loud, but you managed it from the start.
Be seeing you!
As a long time fan of The Prisoner, Danger Man and Patrick McGoohan, happening onto this accidentally has made my decade. Superb work. Be seeing you.
Well done.
It is rare to find one who enjoyed this show enough to pay homage to it like this.
♥️✌
15yrs later and youtube finally suggests this gem. This is great! 😁👍
You. Are. AWESOME!!!!
Hugs from a little old lady in NY who watched The Prisoner when it first aired! ❤
Love it! Brilliant remake of the most iconic opening sequence ever! Patri - I mean, No 6 would be proud.
15 years later and people are still finding this. Perfect homage I hope all is well with you ❤
After three years, still brilliant. Patrick would be proud!
