Wow, Halleluja and amen! Christ is risen and save us from dead.
Viva Christo Rey!
What is really great that they sung “Summo Pontifice et universali papæ vita” even though they’re Anglican
@Marcin T King's College is not part of the official structure of the Church of England. It is a private chapel. They can sing what they like.
...Pontifici̲...
Significa che il dialogo tra le varie chiese è ormai una realtà
I don’t think it’s true, Marcin. Many Anglicans believe that the Pope is still the inheritor of Peter, as do the Orthodox, it’s just that there’s been a separation, and we continue to go in slightly separate ways. Many of us see the Church of England as ‘The Church in England’.
@@jonlascelles6250 Is that so? I certainly haven't heard that before, and the Anglican vicar at my mum's church (semi-jokingly) refers to the Catholic church as 'the enemy'. (I converted from the Anglican church to the Catholic church, and mum has gotten used to it now and is really supportive).
Happy Easter good people😊❤

It's wonderful to hear the Choir singing in God's Very Own Language!!
Ha Ha . I know what you mean . But we are required to believe God speaks to each of us in our own hearts, and in a voice we can understand. For God spoke to the ancient Hebrews in their tongue, and to others in ancient times in their tongues and the apostles in the New Testament spoke Aramaic and the Gospels and Epistles were written in a Greek dialect, the language of trade and philosophy in Jesus time.
Watching this video i thought i was gonna smell candles lol
Mr.beat
Christ is risen! But what happened to the choral scholars? They were there for Christmas, weren't they, despite everything? When was this recorded?
This would have been recorded in December, 2020, at the same time that "Carols From KIng's" was recorded. The Choral scholars were not able to participate in either of those recordings, hence the presence of the King's Singers.
Is this choir of the Anglican Church or the Catholic Church?
It is neither actually since the men in suits are a private group "The Kings Singers" (Alumni of the Kings College Choir) and the children (choir boys) attend Kings School, a private non-sectarian school. affiliated with Kings College of Cambridge University and no church. The church (chapel) in which this was video-taped is administered by the Church of England (Anglican).
@@jackmorrison7379 I don't think you can quite say it is neither, as the boys at least are responsible for daily Anglican services in the chapel; here they are singing in that chapel, in official choir garb, under the auspices of Anglican liturgical authority. It's an Anglican choir of boys joined to a secular choir of men.
@@worldnotworld But are they? Doesn't King's College hire the Director of the Choir and the concert music programs presented are those of the college and not "Anglican liturgical authority" whatever that means. Yes, there are two clergy assigned and probably a verger and some staff, but I doubt the local bishop has much say over anything King's College does in that chapel. When they do their famous Nine Lessons and Carols the college provost has participated in many, doing readings and other college officials and local secular types are featured in those readings. Nary a bishop in sight, nor any Anglican clergy other than Dean of Chapel and college chaplain.
Compare the choir school and choir boys of Westminster Abbey. A choir school run by the Abbey and they reside on site. Anglican control. But here, a secular college within a secular university(Cambridge) runs the show. Yes, for the limited time they sing in Anglican services they are subject to some form of supervision by clergy as to readings and musical choice but even there Daniel Hyde is the boss of that choir.
@@jackmorrison7379 Points well taken, thank you. Still, the choir are appointed to preside over the services of an Anglican chapel, and they sing for that purpose in a musical tradition not radically different from what it was a hundred years ago. I'm not sure what you mean by the "limited" time they sing in liturgical settings, as that limit includes six services a week for the boys and seven for the men in term - which is to say _almost all_ of their time singing.
Perhaps the bishop is extremely liberal and lets them do whatever they want, but that is more a matter of the ever more extreme liberties taken within the Anglican tradition than of how "Anglican" the choir is.
So to someone who asked the question you responded to, I would certainly qualify the word choir with "Anglican" over "Catholic." But you do have a broader point to make perhaps: that what Anglicanism is at all these days is the real question here. Is Anglicanism itself "under Anglican control," as you put it?
The Church of England is *a* Catholic Church, just not *the* Roman Catholic Church.
Un canto decisamente “cattolico” per essere cantato da un coro anglicano...

why these boys have red faces ?
Funny 😂
Is it just me or does anyone else feel like this New director doesn't know the difference between Catholic and Anglican music .
Which Anglican chapel glorifies the pope in a supposed easter song ?
Times like these make me miss Sir Stephen Cleoboury more
The answer is to be found in the fact this is a BBC production recorded in advance months before. It is for broadcast in the UK and like most media companies they are eager to appeal to the widest possible audience. That means Roman Catholics, not just Anglicans or Methodists or Presbyterians or evangelicals. If you check the broadcasts of this Chapel's regular services (morning and evening Prayer and Sunday Eucharist) pre-pandemic there is no use of such explicitly Papal salute music. Call it the BBC effect.
Music across denominational lines (Ave Verum Corpus, for example) has always been sung long before Prof. Hyde.
Christus vincit - Christ conquers. That doesn't refer to the Pope, and it is a message shared by all Christian denominations, thus a musical setting is not the exclusive property of the Roman Catholic denomination.
@@markswintonorganist8227 I think you should translate the other lyrics of the song and not just the title
@@inceejigini9284 It's true that prayers are offered for the Pope, but there is nothing to stop those of the Church of England from prayer for their Roman Catholic neighbours, friends and brethren.
We catholics appreciate the great charity Anglicans do us despite our disagreements in praying for the Bishop of Rome.
