Tom, your videos are fantastic. Seriously, how do you get such a buttery gain sound? I know you're going straight into the effect and amp, but even when I use the same amp and pedal, I have a hard time getting a similar tone. Is it the pickups on your signature guitar??? Please share the secret sauce, mang!

Another comment - I just did a 3 gain stage stack with SD1 into JHS screamer into 1 watt tube amp - Its beautiful 80s scorpions magic - Also works with Klon

Symmetric and asymmetric, not synchronous and asynchronous. Also got what each position does wrong: asymmetric clipping generates more even order harmonics (i.e. simple octaves above the fundamental) and it's usually associated with tube distortion.
Symmetric clipping is hallmark of solid state distortion, because it's much simpler to achieve there.

No one ever picked out guitarists as predominantly intelligent and knowledgeable individuals. If you read enough UA-cam comments, you'll find that the breed wallows somewhere at the low end of the intellectual spectrum. Look through guitar forums and you'll find a lot of a--holes in the community as well.
His designation of the operating modes as 'synchronous' and 'asynchronous' is kind of funny though, even if it sounds more like characteristics one would associate with a delay.

Why do these guys who share pedal sounds on UA-cam have to emulate Van Halen and make a fool of themselves sounding horrible!?! It's like nails on a chalkboard musically for me. Yes I despise Van Halen... all of them however many there are. A truly gross sound. Just play something simple and repetitive so we know what the pedal truly sounds like. This isn't MSG 1981. Apologies, i felt the need to rant. PS That's why no one wants to hear guitar these days, or learn it.

You're the only one who has made a fool of themselves, with your ignorant comment 🤣No one cares what guitarists you "despise", and the guy in this video is Tom Quayle, an absolutely incredible world-class guitarist, hardly just a "guy.. who share[s] pedal sounds on UA-cam". Just because *you* don't like this style of guitar playing. doesn't mean he has made a "fool" of himself or that he sounds "horrible". smh

Dude I thought the SAME shit yesterday after years of watching Gear Reviews/Videos on UA-cam, it finally dawned on me like “why does EVERYBODY play the same Van Halen shit, and make the same corny face and body movements” like they just came up with it on their own. I came to see Metal and Metal to me isn’t Van Halen, though Wddie is a legend. These guys are not
