    never saw a Winky fight before. Wow. This is friggin' good stuff. Splendid defense, never intimidated, and his jabs work for him like a Swiss clockwork.

    DLH and Winky Wright had my two favorite jabs of all time. When they got it going, they were almost unstoppable. And I'll agree with most other comments here in that pure tactical boxers gave Trinidad fits and exposed him.

      +josephpa05 Yes, Ike's jab was almost like a normal fighters straight. Ike probably had the hardest jab, Oscar's was just very quick and snappy..

    This fight goes to show that some styles are hard to adapt to no matter the fighter! The last fighter to give Wright a hell of a hard time was Taylor, the fight Winky was robbed of

    • @turtle42387
      @turtle42387 9 років тому +1

      DJaySplitSecond Winky was robbed in that Taylor fight. I think Taylor manager Lou DiBella was sketchy and did some back door deals. I still think Hopkins beat Taylor both times. But Winky is the best defensive fighter I have ever seen. When he put up those hands, it was like a cement wall, couldn't get through it. Mayweather is the best fighter I've seen making in fight adjustments.

One of the funniest fights for me was when Pacman fought him and just couldnt get through Clottey defence lol, Pac was just confused what else he can do to penetrate that guy)) Clottey was sick at that fight aswell, but still was like a wall))

    winky wrights impregbable defense on display here! I cant believe fernando vargas was able to beat wright tho. Not because wright was such a great boxer.. but because his defense was just unbelievable.

    • @AdonaiZedek
      @AdonaiZedek 9 років тому

      +polivo0111 it wasnt impregnable. It was good and tough to solve. It looks as if he is right in front of you. But he keeps good distance and can fight going backwards. then added with that monstrous jab.. Everyone forgets about angles when fighting him.

    I have no hate for Trinidad, he always came to fight, and most of his fights were exciting, and for a puncher he had decent boxing skills.
    So, how is it that each time he faced a good boxer he always looked confused and even tentative? (Wright, Hopkins, Jones etc). He had months to prepare for the fights, yet looked so very average in these fights.

    • @oscarroca4299
      @oscarroca4299 10 років тому +1

      ***** actually i am from Peru,but it has nothing to do with race or what country i am from cause even any casual boxing fan can see that the true winner in their fight was Oscar, eventhough Officially it was gifted to Tito(remember him crying when the decision was announced,he knew it was a gift). This puts you in the category of hater cause most boxing fans agree DLH exposed Tito for the one dimensional fighter he was and really won going away,but that ok if you are in denial and hatred fuels you(for Oscar)in why you actually seriously can say that Tito won that fight.It's called boxing;hit and move and not get hit,Oscar did a great job at that!! DLH was nailing Tito at will and Tito being one dimensional as he was had no answers,but then again you are an in denial hater so can reason with you?!! Oscar dominated your boy!

I mean, you would be the first and most original brain to ever get into a racial war on a boxing vid! who would ever have thought of that?!?! Do you invent other things too? boy, I am simply stunned by your intellect...a racial war on a boxing video - pure genius! Einstein has nothing on you

      This pretty much sums up the way I see Trinidad. Great fighter, loved watching him fight because he always moved forward and came to fight, but when faced with great boxers, he got exposed.
      He established his place in boxing history and I still enjoy watching his fights. Except when he fought great boxers, he never really had an answer.

    • @urivan9613

      Trinidad never had stamina issues... He was a marathon runner so he always was in extremely top shape. From a boxing point of view, he was a good fighter with an astonishing left hook. He had a Sugar Ray Robinson type of left hook with virtually the same technique. He had lost to very skilled boxers. More complete fighters overall.

      @buddyboy1220 9 років тому

      After listening to DLH vs Tito without sound and watching it a couple of times, most can see that Trinidad won by a very close split. Oscar had that fight within his reach, but as usual got tired, slowed down and ran away. Winnable by Oscar but he lost, fair and square.

      George Havenhand True, but a fight is a fight, stamina and the ability to go the distance are a part of the game. Oscar would've no doubt won an amateur fight or a 3-8 rounder with Tito, but not a championship 12 rounder

    De La Hoya vs Trinidad 2 was supposed to happen instead of this fight, which would have HUGE! If De La Hoya would have pulled the upset and beaten Hopkins but we all know what happened. It could have still happened in 2006 if Trinidad would have beaten Wright and right after De La Hoya beat Mayorga. Oh well.

    I loved this fight, it showed how one dimensional Tito was and when he met a fighter who a strong fighter he was exposed so badly. This fight alone, I'll give Tito a pass against B-Hop, showed that Tito was overrated as hell.
    I don't want to hear how Tito was faded or past it. Wright was no spring chicken here and he would have beaten Tito any day at 154. Tito turned into a crybaby after this fight.

    • @sinusbradycardia
      @sinusbradycardia 9 років тому

      Jose Hyland
      Tito lost to the only other top fighter he fought at 147. ODH outboxed him easily early in the fight. ODH, faded down the stretch and Tito made the cards closer, but he didn't win the fight. For that matter ODH is an overrated fighter as well. Tito had big power and that only gets you so far. I don't think that Tito or Dela Hoya for that matter rate higher at 147 than Hearns or Leonard. I think Mark Breland would have beaten both ODH and Tito. Marlon Starling, would have boxed the shit out of Tito and the same with Donald Curry.
      I don't hate Trinidad, he is a good fighter and made for some very exciting fights. He is a fan friendly fighter. Both he and ODH were not what they were advertised to be.

    • @sinusbradycardia
      @sinusbradycardia 9 років тому

      Jose Hyland
      What you have written is very good and a nice assessment. Some people get carried away with Tito, making bold statements that he would have crush Hearns at any weight and would have KO'ed Benitez and Duran or could have went head to head with Marvin Hagler. You're not one of those people. I have followed Tito's career, either through Ring, KO or TV, since he fought Alberto Cortez. When I read that he scored a 3rd round KO over Cortez, I was impressed. Because Chavez had previously beaten Cortez via 3rd round KO and I figured a Tito had to have some talent. Then winning the title at age 20. That is impressive. That is something that seems to less and less common, fighters winning titles in their early 20s. I thought ODH beat Tito by 1 or 2 points, however, that didn't tell the story of the fight. The rounds ODH won, he won big and was embarrassing Tito.
      Anyway, in addition to Tito's power he had great stamina and heart. He never quit in a fight, that is for sure.

    • @jeromemock26
      @jeromemock26 9 років тому

      Jose Hyland tito wasnt one of the greatest. Welterweights he was really over rated just had good power at that weight in that era. If he was as strong as people say how come his power didnt show at middle weight. He was one dimensional, u can have all the power in the world if u cant land its useless. He couldnt compete with most of the greatest Welterweights in any era like a boxer like floyd could. He beat sweet pea on his way out and got a gift with that de le hoya fight. I dont see nothing great about Trinidad

    Ok, let me say it.... Jay Nady! If ever there was someone who should've been a used car salesman! WTH??? Winky's shorts are high. Most of Trinidad's lefts to the body were good. When have you ever seen a match stopped for stepping on each others feet? It happens everytime opposites meet in the ring. Jay Nady just had to "LOOK AT ME EVERYBODY". Winky won hands down but I wonder how much more exciting it would have been with Mills Lane in there?

      Tito didn't belong at that weight and I don't think any version of Tito could beat Winks style

      @Armando316 9 років тому

      BabyFacedAssassin301 Winky was a different fighter at 154, though. He was far more offensive minded and opened up more. It's why he was floored about 4 times against Harry Simon and he had that close fight with Vargas (A fight I thought Wink edged out).

    • @buddyboy1220
      @buddyboy1220 9 років тому

      I believe you about Winky and the PEDs but there's no proof really so not much anyone can do to discredit him much, although that roid brow doesn't help his case
