My roomie and I used to watch these shows all the time. It was a good relaxer after a hard day of work. We'd mock the criminals using the cliches like Bunnell would do. One of them was a long chase that ended in a fatal crash for the criminal. Having had a few drinks, I spoke up: "He thought he could get away from the law. Now he's serving his time...in Hell." Great nights.
That way because you have a heavily populated area Rife with crime but you also have a major city that has a chopper available at all times to record the footage

It ran in the 90's and was hosted by a guy named Sheriff John Bunnell. I'm 44 and our family used to sit around the TV and watch it together. You should UA-cam a couple clips and then come back and watch the Flinstone's chase again. It's hilarious. They nailed it.
Of course when SpikeTV became Paramount Network; the annoying busybodies known as the Parents Television Council celebrated while bashing SpikeTV for airing not only shows like the ones you mentioned; but also airing "Blue Mountain State."

The 1990s Chevy Caprice was the best Police car of the decade if not longer. Its 5.7 V8 put out only around 250-260 HP , But around 320 FP/TQ. It was heavy but it could accelerate fast and it was reliable , perfect for pit manouvers. This is till this day most officers opinion.
