I saw Wilt and Jerry West play an exhibition game in The Salt Palace in 1969. I drove down with my old man while I was visiting Idaho. The place was full, and the only person in the crowd of 10,000 or to applaud Chamberlain was my old man, a standing ovation, he gave him. The point of the story is, Malone and Stockton did more for racial relations in The Inter Mountain West than anyone in history.
I remember watching stockton hit the game winner to send them to the finals. My dad and I were watching it. After he hit the shot, my Dad and I went bananas!!!! I will never forget it.
I'm from Spokane and this guy is so chill, most non arrogant and friendly guy ever. Catch him watching a game at the Kennel and he is just a regular guy that could break your whole squads ankles by PASSING he was incredible. Much respect ALWAYS.
@Erich Von Manstein what??..your a real idiot...what the fuck u talkn bout dont make no starts at center....he was a point guard..stick to golf or something you know😂😂😂
I have binged on old NBA/ABA stuff...one thing stands out: the guys respected each other...white/black...didn't matter...Barkley & Magic are so unselfishly heap praises on ability, their eagerness to be fair, respectful are inspirations...I love this series on Stockton, he, like Bird, was not supposed to get that far...their heart transcended.
Irreguardess of what haters want to say, he is by far the greatest pure PG of all time. Period. One of the greatest all around players of all time. There are great PG's, but the way he played, his toughness, his offense, defense, leadership, etc is tops. It's unfortunate he never won a championship.
watching John Stockton taught me how to play basketball i started playing at age 19 and took a lot of criticism and now im very good.... My game is mixed with John Stockton first .. Majic Johnson and Tracy Mcgrady.... Im unstoppable to the average guy i think im hard to defend because i play like stocton... Thanks Stockton I love you man
I didn’t start hoopin until I turned 35, I tried to pattern my game after Keith Van Horn, Chris Mullin, Yao Ming, John Stockton, and Kurt Rambis... The results have made for dominant performances, I challenge you to a game of blindfolded full court HORSE with make-it-take rules *putbacks and psyche-outs are certainly possibly prohibited
Mark Eaton ( 0:45 ) is an interesting story as well. After high school, he went to work as a mechanic for a few years before he was "discovered" by someone who got hiim to enroll at UCLA. But, while playing for UCLA, he barely got any minutes at all. The Jazz took a chance at him, and it paid off. It doesn't hurt that he's 7'4".
The all time greatest pure point guard, one of the many reason is his durability by playing almost 82 games in his entire career and up until now his record of all time leader in assist is still far to be broken.
In today's NBA his stats would be even better. The sloppy passing, weak defense's John would be a kid in a candy store. Never forget he got those numbers against some of the greatest teams and players in the history of the NBA. The NBA was full of great players and tough teams during that era.
Legand i grew up watching this man..he was a tuff guy 👦 using everything short but the kitchen sink ..man had madd skills look how felt comfortable using both hands to dribble
To be honest I was really surprised he was left that wide open. You know if he had a clear look at the basket he was going to make it. It was a shot he made a 1000 times before.
In game fourth. The great Michael Jordan miss. John Stockton catch, and pass to Karl Malone all in the end. The thing that makes this great is: How the hell did Malone get up there. And how the hell John Stockton see him. Every wannabe point-guard should try to copy it. Remember 2 Bulls-defender is just in front of Malone and try to block the pass
not cuz we both stocken and me are from the same state but that was one of the best passes in nba history and who he had to place the ball just right over the best nba player of all time mj
I routed for the Jazz in both Finals in 97 and 98....I hated Jordan so much for beating my Lakers I routed for every team that matched up against Chicago! All despite the fact that I loved air Jordans!
I like Avery Johnson. No college scholarship. 3 different colleges. No NBA draft. Walk on player. Played for 7 teams ? Won a ring with Robinson-Duncan in SA.
He was the Jazz starting point guard when John came into the league. John was his back up, which means they had to play each other in practice and would know more than anyone what type of a player John was. Ricky was a very good player in his own right.
There will be no one like stockton in nba or world, I wish Jazz had one more superstar on their team or if they aded one following year after they went to another finale they would beat bulls they been mis match hornacek on pippen or on jordan
Even before, that extra player would have been a dynasty. What everyone forgets is the Rockets knocking the Jazz out of the playoffs and going on to win their championships. Part of the reason they were so happy, knocking off one of their nemesis. The Jazz in one of the previous playoffs should have beat the Rockets except they went to a prevent defense, it worked, it prevent the Jazz from winning. Houston went on to win the championship while mj was out.
Lol lol lol your stupid he lost twice in row in the finals to the greatest player in NBA history. How does he get to finals twice in row if he to small?? John would b a champion in this eras NBA easily. He was that good. Ask around.

Man I miss Stockton and Malone. The two most underrated legends in history.
Many were good, few were great, Stockton was the greatest!
One of the absolute best. Underrated as hell.
I remember watching stockton hit the game winner to send them to the finals. My dad and I were watching it. After he hit the shot, my Dad and I went bananas!!!! I will never forget it.
Greatest player to never win a championship
I agree 100% amazing pure and simple
Allen Iverson is the greatest to never win.
I think Patrick Ewing
sweatyDan r u on drugs
Yes I have to agree he earned players respect around the league. Him and Carl Malone had the hardest pic and roll to defend.
I'm from Spokane and this guy is so chill, most non arrogant and friendly guy ever. Catch him watching a game at the Kennel and he is just a regular guy that could break your whole squads ankles by PASSING he was incredible. Much respect ALWAYS.
John Stockton is arguably the best point guard I have seen play.
Over Magic??...
@Erich Von Manstein i said Magic...not Erving...an Magic is the poster boy for true point guards...i respect John to the utmost great point guard
@Erich Von Manstein ...dont hate...Magic the GOAT...he's a point guard...point blank...what you mean hes not...
@Erich Von Manstein you know nothing about bball..at all
@Erich Von Manstein what??..your a real idiot...what the fuck u talkn bout dont make no starts at center....he was a point guard..stick to golf or something you know😂😂😂
"I just went bonkers."
Johns Dad seems like an awesome guy lol
best pic and roll ever, Stockton, Malone
I have binged on old NBA/ABA stuff...one thing stands out: the guys respected each other...white/black...didn't matter...Barkley & Magic are so unselfishly heap praises on ability, their eagerness to be fair, respectful are inspirations...I love this series on Stockton, he, like Bird, was not supposed to get that far...their heart transcended.
I’ll never understand the hate Barkley gets, dude keeps it real and gives props when due.

"Irregardless" is not a word :-)
Irreguardess? lol I think you mean regardless.
"period" yea...no....the fraud didnt even have a left hand. open your eyes

he must just have a lazy peepee. droops all the time! 😂🤣😂

3:32 Nasty no-look pass to the ref
Owti Glad I wasn’t the only one that was impressed by that! Lol
Sick
John says it wasn't a great pass, just a great read by Carl to be there to catch the ball.
Stockton WAS and IS the best point guard ever. He is the all time assist leader!!!!
And all time steal leader.
Are you telling me he averaged at least 13 assists in a season? Shit that's crazy.
In the '89-90 season he beat his own record with 14.5 per game for the season. he was top in assists for the league for nine consecutive seasons.
At the 8:41 mark starts the greatest assist of his career. Rebound, one dribble and length of the court perfect pass for the layup.
Hey. Are we absolutely SURE that Jeff Hornacek isn't just a time-traveling Jerry Sloan?
Jerry Sloan is in fact Hornacek in the future.
lol just thought the same thing
I've often wondered that myself.
He time traveled enough to develop that jumper lol
If he is, time travel ruins coaching abilities.

iPod
and all time steal leader
“They’re not that good” what a legend...that’s the mindset
Nobody will touch Stockton's stats ever.
Period.
In today's NBA his stats would be even better. The sloppy passing, weak defense's John would be a kid in a candy store.
Never forget he got those numbers against some of the greatest teams and players in the history of the NBA. The NBA was full of great players and tough teams during that era.

What a player... for the ages...
stockalone ... the fish and chips....bacon and eggs of jazz
Stockton > Magic
what a legend!
The greatest generation in basketball
To be honest I was really surprised he was left that wide open. You know if he had a clear look at the basket he was going to make it. It was a shot he made a 1000 times before.

+David Larsen illiterate.
not everyone's first language is english you low life piece of shit. you are an animal and probably a republican because you are so ignorant.
@@dizzyboy352 not it's the left wing demotards that have grown Internet spell check balls.
Gary Payton sums up Stockton well.
not cuz we both stocken and me are from the same state but that was one of the best passes in nba history and who he had to place the ball just right over the best nba player of all time mj
I routed for the Jazz in both Finals in 97 and 98....I hated Jordan so much for beating my Lakers I routed for every team that matched up against Chicago! All despite the fact that I loved air Jordans!
WOW! I remember those pick and rolls...
This is making my day
Okay, cool video, John Stockton was a tough dude.
3rd greatest point gusrd ever only behind Magic and Oscar and honestly I wouldn't be mad at you if you put John before Oscar
"The Shot." Nuff said...
no one better! pure point guard. an tough
A legend.
Stockton very underrated id love to see stockon to wilt that would be funny and unstopable
How in the world do they not show the footage of the play he is describing at 2:40?
In the 1987-88 playoffs mentioned at 4:32 , stockton averaged 19.5ppg and 14.8apg!
They should Air this on NBA TV
After pistol Pete... John was the jazz man.
That basketball IQ tho.
The greatest basketball player to play in point guard position
The pass @8:41 was clutch!
Stockton to Malone. I'm a GSW fan I hated those words
3:38
no look pass is on the money!
RIP Jack
Stockton stealing it from Jordan timeless....what a great moment in NBA history.
I like Avery Johnson. No college scholarship. 3 different colleges. No NBA draft.
Walk on player. Played for 7 teams ? Won a ring with Robinson-Duncan in SA.
6:25 I have done that before and its a great feeling!
Jhon Stockton did underestimate the heart of a champion in 1996,
4:15... Pure magic.
najbolji plej ikad!!
Big FK-UP Jerry Sloan was Coach up to 1988 (1:11) WTF!!!!
Who's Ricky Greene?
He was the Jazz starting point guard when John came into the league. John was his back up, which means they had to play each other in practice and would know more than anyone what type of a player John was. Ricky was a very good player in his own right.
Top three point guards ever
I don't see that as a compliment. I understand ranking Magic ahead of him but no one else. Beat it with your backhanded compliments.
Stockton is pound for pound the "best" to ever play the game.
There will be no one like stockton in nba or world, I wish Jazz had one more superstar on their team or if they aded one following year after they went to another finale they would beat bulls they been mis match hornacek on pippen or on jordan

who is skip tomalew?
it's rumored that Karl refused to wear magic white underwear. Many attribute the Jazz's championship loss to the Bulls for this reason.
Wasted his career in Utah .. should have played in Phoenix, spurs , knicks ,
No disrespect but that still at 2:40 creeped me out.
he was too small for the postseason ... sorry john
Lol lol lol your stupid he lost twice in row in the finals to the greatest player in NBA history. How does he get to finals twice in row if he to small?? John would b a champion in this eras NBA easily. He was that good. Ask around.
