I popped in (2 hr drive) to Holts at the weekend for their main auction, and the sealed bids; with the wife and younger son in tow. They (holts) couldn’t have been more obliging. Nick holt was there, talking to my 10yr old about what to look for, and checking memsaab was comfortable. Looking through the sealed bids, i bumped into Simon R, who talked us through a gun for my son - who was awestruck, actually starstruck, over ‘the antique-gun guy on youtube’ and spend the next 2 days explaining to me the diff between boxlock/sidelock, damascus/steel barrels. Best weekend trip i’ve had for years. I didn’t win on the main auction, but i’m still hopeing on the sealed bids!
So glad i got to have a look at a few items in the sb im interested in. Walking atound the room without viciously scrawling numbers on the sheet was so difficult
Great review! Crazy thought..Opening scene to the chapter on Ribs... landing on a Norfolk beach standing on a rigid inflatable boat donning a shotgun announcing the conversation all about the subject. ;)
The main auction doesn't really interest me all that much. This is the gun geek stuff that I yern for each sale. If only it was more often! Thank for the tour! Love your selections to drool over with us again.
I feel the same way about the Boss. Beautiful. Maybe get lucky and bring it over to states. Although I feel it should stay in U.K. That is a top 5 for me.
Unfortunately they won't ship to the US without cutting the barrels, so no help there. Shame, since you could add Briley 20 bore tubes very reasonably.
I need to start an import business! Used prices in Britain are crazy cheap in comparison. On another note, recently came across a Franchi international trap from the early 70’s that apparently was crazy expensive new in it’s day. Curious if anyone has seen one or knows anything about them as they weren’t very popular it seems. Not surprising I suppose since they cost about 20% the cost of a new car and the equivalent of 8-10k today but I got it for less than it sold for new so I either got a great deal on a high quality gun or I bought an overpriced clunker that you can’t get parts for 😁
I wish Holts had an easier way to import to the US. Everything I’ve read the costs are insane for one or two guns. Maybe if they had a bulk rate/shipment for all US buyers?
1984-ish first gun was a Parker-Hale o/u 12 bore rounded pistol grip. Made by Winchester Japan. Nice workhorse & kept till 2010 moved up to Beretta 686
My favorite side by side is a Winchester model 24 people have only had things to say about it but if you try to buy one you would think here in the states that they were all gold plated it is the only gun that has really felt instinctive that shoots rite where it should is there very many over there
I wish you would show us what the market is like for combi guns I have searched for a 12 gauge over a 25 caliber maby a 264 for a game gun I currently use a 257 Roberts bolt gun and a 12 gauge pump I would love to combine the two of them or at least come close in one combination gun

I have just seen that Lamberts in Ringwood are closing for good. This is the First place I got to meet Johny and he sorted me an amazingly good deal on a .223, probably over 10 years ago now. How do you guys feel about it?
@tgsoutdoors it's a shame. As a youth in my summer holiday staying with family in this neck of the woods, it was always a highlight going in to Lamberts, walking up the squeaky stairs and looking at each and every gun, probably annoying everyone by asking silly questions.
Given your affinity for wierd gadgety pumps, you should spend more time with that broken down gun you momentarily grabbed from the side early in the segment with Simon. It's a forward pumping two shot trap gun from the beginning of the 1900's. I also noticed another somewhat gadgety pump in the catalog: a Remington model 10. Striker fired, and the shell carrier rather than hinged at the rear is side hinged. Not a great design, but interesting.
Will you pleeeeeze stop highlighting the guns I want to bid on. Genuinely, this is the third time ! I think I’ve found a cheeky bargain and you keep bumping the value up!! 😫
The more modern winchester didn't deserve to be called winchester's. The 101 line was epic, 6500 is still one of the best guns ever made. Such a shame they fell through, and browning should have Miroku use the original tooling to make a limited run

Really enjoyed the sporting / clay stock comparison with two mostly identical action guns . Thanks
Great content as always TGS, so enjoy the Holts video you guys do.
The member only is a lot more info on the guns for sale 👍

One step closer to Jake Bond
Brilliant video as per usual many thanks for sharing with us those amazing guns keep up the good work 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Brilliant mate, extremely insightful. Thank you
If I had access to this auction, I would stay dead-broke.
It’s not a bad way to live
Glad its in the uk lol
Agree, TKS god the export fees/shipping are kind of ridiculous
Otherwise I too would either dead broke... Or the wife would kill me ...
I have dual US/UK citizenship, I should see if I can get over there and bring anything back. Beautiful pieces, thanks for the tour.
He's done a video with a guy that does exports, from memory it's not actually that expensive
These prices seem pretty cheap compared to if they were over here in the US, correct?
@@bertroost1675 Yes, even loose action used stuff is 250-300 here in PA
@@andymcgowan9819 It seems if it is a vintage UK double then it is automatically $800+

Nice one
I liked that funny silvery Winchester thingy with the odd checking towards the end.

We discovered it works out at $350/gun on a batch of 10 - check out ‘the gun so bad i sent it back’ on the channel for more info

Some very interesting guns. Especially the Side by Sides.
How much would it cost to sleeve the Boss in the UK to a higher standard? Of course Boss would do it, but probably for too much??
£4500 would have it sleeved to a very good standard
@@tgsoutdoors
Ouch😮 that's $7,700 in Cdn loonies.
On a side note, how did you call the wrist-plate repair? (Or the lot #)
The shotgun at 23:30 mark is a Belgian Comblain action from the 1882 Comblain rifle.
Always the best shooting channel - by far.
You have made me bid on 3 more shotguns i dont need😂 my wife will go mad😂
I truly enjoy the passion you have for the history of shotguns. Keep up the good work!
When your discussing the boss, whats the other gun you keep cutting to? Looks wild! 😂

Hi Johnny, when you talk about the Boss sxs. What would be a rough estimate on restoration? So the gun can be used and enjoyed again.

can’t wait to get my licence, i really want a antique side by side
Thanks! I appreciate you doing this.
Also have you thought about doing the #CabinFeverChallenge ? You and Ant would do good I'm sure.
What’s the cabin fever challenge

Johnny please save lot 8509. $40-60 with $20 worth of cuts! You have the technology you can make it better!
An you do more rifles plz
Those Spanish side-by-sides with double triggers really struck me.
So sad we can't get these in the US for these prices. 10x here

Converted Comblain, just called ‘something different’

The tgs curse 😂
I know something else you could do with those Boss barrels 👀👀
A boss knife…. Woof
How cool would it be to have a knife called The Boss 😂
How much to sleeve those two guns?
What’s the admission charge for the trap gun museum?
This is all well and good. But, how would one go about exporting/importing those old beauties to the U.S?
