While I agree that this is not a group type of song, I will say that this song is not an easy one to do and I commend them for their effort. It's also not every day that you have Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber playing the accompaniment, I would kill for a chance like that!
Now, I consider myself a progressive when it comes to classical musicals being rework.I'm a classically trained tenor but I have also performed in musicals such as Spring Awakening and Legally Blonde. However, this is not something that should have EVER been allowed to go through. A pop competition with pop singers took out all the meaning of this song and the power that it brings. Sure it got it to more people, but they'll never know it's true, intended meaning. They'll just know...well this!
Well the guys were okay at least...poor Andrew Lloyd Webber. If this is how they sounded on the final show, imagine how badly they sounded during rehearsals.
BLEH. SUCK. lol. It did. I really hate how they try to make The Phantom of the Opera music into pop. The only rendition of Phantom music I can somewhat get behind is Cook's The Music of the Night. Think of Me was just.... horrendous.
The Phantom of the Opera is my favorite movie and the All I Ask Of you scene is my favorite and i think this group did a wonderful job
AMEN.
i LOVED that performance!
How exciting it would have been to sing one of Andrew Lloyd Weber's famous songs with HIM playing the piano!!!!!!! I would have fainted!!!!!!!
all you can hear is david cook :)
agreed!
david cook = ultimate phantom
yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum
XD

Waaah. I wanted a Carly/DC solo. :( xD
i agree should not have been done with so many people.
I kind of thought that they would have split the song up a bit so that everyone will have a tiny solo...
Actually, I'm pretty sure that's Cook you're hearing.
the girls part at the beginning wasnt quite on...
it sounded pop-ish.. I can't feel the romance.. Unlike when I listen to the classic version where my hair on my arms would raise and I feel chills..
it sounded like 6 individuals trying to each show off what they can do. They could of been alot tighter and used harmonies...
you are not alone. i cringed the moment they began...i wonder if andrew lloyd webber was secretly wishing he wasn't there...

Carly shouldn't have left, Jason should have.
no, it wasn't, nice catch, they aren't quite getting up there on this song
Hated it except David Cook.......who could be a exceptional Raoul but thats my wishful thinking
K, I love this song, But they RUINED IT !!!
How did Idol do it, how did they manage to ruin all the ALW songs they sung?
Well the guys were okay at least...poor Andrew Lloyd Webber. If this is how they sounded on the final show, imagine how badly they sounded during rehearsals.
no offense, this sort of sucks
it doesn't sound like they mean what they're saying
The guys sound good by them selfs, but when you add the girls in it's just horibal. What a shame this is a magnificent song
This is horrible - One of the most BEAUTIFUL songs ever.. mutilated :( It sounds like they are in a Glee club or something... :/

Screw Top 6. David Cook should just sing this.... Heck screw the girl part... David cook can sing ANYTHING, I am fully convinced now...
the male part was okay. but the females just ruined it.....a lot..
this is terrible!!!!
I love this song, but this sucks.
Holy crap, this is the worst thing i've ever seen!
