When I was a kid there was this guy called himself The Star Wars Knight! He paid for 4 hours of public radio time to voice act Star Wars books and graphic novels with his buddies every Sunday evening! I used to love it! This reminds of that!

I read this when it first came out I was a kid I used to go to a comic book store that is now a liquor store never got so excited about Star Wars as much as I did about this particular series back then thank you

Oh and the complaints! “Oh there’s midichlorians and now the force is ruined” “anakin’s whiny and bad” “there’s too much comedy!” Every complaint about the sequels has been made in a more intense and angry form 20 fucking years ago.

The voice actor for Luke doesn't sound much like Hamill, but he nails the performance. He's got that 70s voice....really dig his rendition.

The devastation in Legends easily reaches the scale of the worst theaters of WW2 and the worst wars in China's history on a galactic scale.
Operation Shadow Hand's offensives kill such a huge number of people that even mass murderers like Grievous and Tarkin would have found it unbelievable. On the core worlds alone the Imperials kill several billion people, even en single planets.
And then comes the Yuuzhan Vong War which kills like 365 trillion across the Galaxy.
I wonder how the hell the protagonists manage to continue living despite all this eternal shit war.

Excellent job, this is my all time favorite Star Wars series of comics. If only, if only, they had of made an actual movie about this.

YES. Canon is what we want it to be. They rip off it all the time. Kyo Ren was basically a rip off of Revan from TOR. Jedi, then turned, then redeemed. Even the mask is a little similar. I know not all the EU novels and comics were great, but much of it was really good and all we had for a while. That and games. To toss it all aside then blatantly rip off it is a slap to fans who kept it alive. So, I choose to enjoy the EU as the timeline.

This is what should've happened. If Star Wars stays in 20th Century Fox and create a Sequel Trilogy instead.
(However, Disney took Star Wars away, rebooted and changed Star Wars stories into something else, a nightmare.)
George Lucas Sold Lucas Films, which includes Star Wars LP, Skywalker Sound, Lucas Arts, ILM, Indiana Jones LP, THX which is now owned by Razor. Fox never owned Star Wars they had Distribution rights of 1-6 movies with Disney buying Fox they now are able to distribute all the movies. I’m 21 and was never able to get these books but I’d always go to those sketchy websites to read them and end up bricking the family computer. You’re almost exclusively what I’ve been watching lately and I’m so excited to come back and watch this one. Thank you bro. Thank you.

I remember ROTJ where I live in 1983. There two lines going past the fitness gym&the other line went past the arcade building to the entrance of the concrete sidewalk. But the old theater is a church and arcade is now a something else. Ur fortunate, when I was a boy: we had to go to a bookstore. Now everything is online. Which makes it alot easier.

It currently retails for about $40.
Haven't read Dark Empire 1 and 2 in quite some time, and it's still objectively better then TLJ. I love how you expanded on the dialogue. Jesus this is good.

Kudos to you for an entertaining audio comic video!! I wasn't fond of the motion scenes of the Rebel forces battling the Imperial World Devastators seen from the Star Wars: Dark Empire video game, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I also liked the video billboard from the Blade Runner movie seen as the Millennium Falcon was flying in Nal Hutta!! Great job!!!

Sometimes a presentation like this is actually better than a movie.
We get great dialogue and just enough accompanying imagery to let our minds fill the rest in.
Sometimes the transition into live action leaves gaps or just doesn't quite capture the story as well.
I had the audio version of dark empire on cassette in the good old days also owned the comic which originally was gonna be published by marvel then dark horse got the license
it’s nearly the same cast that did the original radio play adaptions of the original trilogy
Any one who finds this interesting I highly recommend you seek out the radio play adaption of both Star Wars and empire. Jedi is pretty much same as the film but the radio adaptions of esb and a new hope flesh out a lot of scenes

Impressive Luke defeated a full powered Palpatine Luke has approximately 14,500 Midichlorians and Palpatine 20,500 Midichlorians both were trained well and with full power
That's a False you can't go off of fan made websites. Anakin was 20k midichlorians and the Emperor himself said Luke was stronger than his father so he would have had at to at least be over that close to maybe 30k
Majority of us fans don't care about a midachlorian count.
I vaugly recall getting this audioplay on tape from the library as a kid.
This is the StarWars Disney should have made.

Couple of minor issues in this adaptation:
Vima Sunrider’s flashback scene- The young Vima seen there was 10 years after the war of Exar Kun, 4,000 years before the Battle of Yavin. How could she, a human, still be alive after 4,000 years? It can’t be the same Vima Sunrider, it must be one of her distant descendants, unless there is time travel involved.
The young Emperor’s duel with Luke in the cloning chamber- why is the young clone speaking with the voice of the dead old man? Surely he would have a young voice?

Dark Empire Vima is Vima Da Boda, not Vima Sunrider. Two different characters. That's not even a question.

Because of the idea of Palpatine clones in this, I wasn’t opposed to Palpatine being brought back in the sequels...this storyline should have been the premise for the sequels...but alas, that didn’t happen.

I would much rather see a really professional, high end animated film of this or the thrawn trilogy as opposed to a live action film. Handdrawn ideally, that reflected the comic art. The clone wars/rebels animation style always ends up looking kinda junky

I see how people can maybe assume the sequels took inspiration from Legends. Palpatine coming back, Han and Leia’s son turning to the dark side, and Luke acting out of character.

Hugh, this comic/radio drama must have come out before the concept of the Sith. Never heard Palpatine refer to himself as the master of the Jedi.

Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! I had all these comics and some in graphic novel form. All Dark Horse Star Wars and all the old Marvel ones. Every single one! A few yearss ago, our basement was flooded with 3 feet of water and 75% of them were destroyed! This graphic novel was one was one that was unsalvagable. So thable a tonne!

The New Hope radio drama is still hands down the best in terms of voice acting.
Plus they had a whole hour and a half long prologue that explains Luke's relationships with his friends on Tatooine and it also explains the backstory to how Leia got the Death Star plans. It's a lot different than in Rogue one.
