    What kind of symptoms did your dryer have when the felt drum gasket failed?

    • @anonymousme8102
      @anonymousme8102 Рік тому +3

      Slight noise. Bouncing bumping thumping sounds. So the reason why my felt came off / “burnt out” was because 1 of the back rollers was broken … hence lopsided barrel , hence friction on the felt.

    I've replaced the heating element 3 times and associated wires a few times on this machine. I've also replaced the drum rollers once, so this is just one more thing it needs. Thanks for showing every single step in the video. Very helpful.

They were freaking out when they saw the dryer in pieces, but as an experienced DIYer, I knew this was a piece of cake. And it was. THANK YOU! Minor tip:
    I used painter's tape below the bottom of the felt gasket. That way when the glue ran, none gut stuck on the drum. Just peeled the tape off before the glue dried.
    Thank you!! Not exact same model but close enough to guide me through.

    Thank you so much for the detailed step-by-step. Tore apart the dryer to replace the gaskets and discovered the idler pulley needed replacement as well. Had 2 days for both felt pieces to cure, so ordered and replaced that and the belt while in there.
    For noobs like me, I'd recommend, after each of his steps at removing screws, tape them to a piece of paper with masking tape and label the step number and part. That way when you reassemble, you use the same screws in the correct spots AND you shouldn't have any left over.

    Great video, tackled it as you said and I am now drying some towels. I used a bungee cord instead of clamps for 100% pressure everywhere while glue dries. Also, I noticed that the rear left drum roller was broken and the right rear was starting to bend, (you also had a video for this;) )hence maybe the reason for the friction causing the felt to come apart. Again from chicken coops to sand box / bench’s to gas ranges to dyi shop to toilets and now to dryers !!!!

    Do the rollers actually ride on the Felt?
    A repair man said the rollers ride on the felt
    Tbe felt broke in November, ive put a roller or two in it once a month since Thanksgiving...they keep blowing up, and theres black rubber everywhere, and its on the cloths too...

    • @PartsDr

      The rollers do not ride on the felt. It sounds like you are using cheap aftermarket rollers that are failing. The OEM Samsung ones like the ones that we sell on our site partsdr.com do not fail as you describe.

    Also, I plan to replace both sides of the felt, should I replace the belt at the same time? It's 5/6 years old, thinking I might as well.

    I just attempted to put new felt gaskets on that I got from Amazon. When I fully reassemble the dryer, the drum is too tight and very difficult to spin by hand, almost impossible. This happens after I put the front drum frame back on the machine. There seems to be no clearance for the drum to rotate. Powered, the dryer will will run and spin for a couple minutes but then the motor shuts off. Do you think a slightly thicker gasket could cause this? I ordered a set from you guys now and hoping it fixes the issue because it is noticeably thinner than the gasket I got from Amazon.

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  2 роки тому +1

      It sounds like the gaskets that you sourced from Amazon might be aftermarket or knockoffs of the original OEM felt seals. Let us know what you find out.

      @@PartsDr That's exactly what I'm expecting. The stitching color is yellow instead of white, also the gasket I got from them folds over completely where the one from you guys doesn't. One side is longer than the other. I didn't struggle putting the Amazon gasket on, where the one from you guys was so tight it was a real struggle like the video said it would be. It took me 10 clamps lol. I just glued the first one, and letting it cure for the 24 hours. I will definitely report back, because it will be good for you and especially potential customers to know.
