What exactly makes this guy a legend? Name 1 bass line he’s ever written. Legends write great music, not just play other people’s great music. You can find great cover musicians anywhere.
Ozzy was really sick during the time he was searching for and playing with Randy. I don't think Randy was happy either he never looks happy in any photos. I remember I was doing my laundry listening to the local rock station in San Diego when they said Ozzy was on the phone to do an interview. Apparently Ozzy just called the radio station and said let's talk. This was during the time Ozzy reportedly disappeared and cut off all his hair and mailed it to Sharon. I listened to that interview Ozzy was crying and telling the whole story of how the plane hit the bus and he was absolutely devastated by Randy's death. He was sobbing and bawling on the phone for a long time. Ozzy is a raw open wound of a person but also a very gentle and intelligent soul and a great singer. The man also has some serious troubles in his life.
That’s so sad ! Oh my gosh ! My heart breaks for Ozzy ! His whole life was stolen from him since he was young ! He is so sweet and gentle ! He reminds me of an angel !
When Randy Died That weekend we were Cruzing Colfax ave. in Denver...... Yes Radio informed us and Only the true Fans new who he was in those days..... Way before the actuall hair band Glam B.S. ALLWAYS..... One of the Fathers From the Beginning of the Ripper Metal Guitarist
Ozzy was treating Randy like shit by the end and Randy was planning to leave the band as soon as the Diary tour was over. I don't understand why people who know better feel the need to feed the pro-Ozzy mythology. Randy's family and all of his (real) friends from that time know the truth.
Exactly.. POS Sharon had fired the greatest co-writers Randy had ever written with, and she would’ve fired Randy too if he hadn’t gotten so popular so fast. Daisley and Kerslake have said that many times and in fact an interview here on utube Daisley talks about him and Kerslake talking Randy into staying in the band and getting some money in his pockets before quitting. They say Randy wanted to quit when Sharon fired them. The Osbournes done the same thing David Coverdale did to John Sykes and the same thing Ronnie James Dio did to Vivian Campbell. Hired some great guns to write great records and screw em out of their part of the money.
Rudy is a great musician. A really cool person. Such a long time ago. I saw you with Quiet Riot. But Was that you I saw in August1981 at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island with Ozzy and Randy?
I can only imagine how far Randy’s guitar talent would have taken him?? I must say that Jake E Lee did a fantastic job filling those empty guitarist shoes for Ozzy!!! My 2 favorite Ozzy albums will always be 1. Diary of a Madman 2. The Ultimate Sin
Finally, someone else who thinks highly of "The Ultimate Sin"...when it came out, it was my favorite for a good while, years later now, in retrospect, it may not be my favorite, but it is right up there. For me, Ozzy solo is "Blizzard of Oz", "Diary of a Madman"(Randy Rhodes), "Bark at the Moon", "The Ultimate Sin"(Jake E.Lee), those 4 albums..I saw Ozzy live on the Ultimate Sin tour in '86, and Ozzy sounded and looked great, and I can tell you, Jake was awesome live..he kicked ass. Too bad Ozzy doesn't seem to think much of the album now, it was a great album. I just never could get into the stuff after that, the material, or Zakk Wylde's playing style...despite Zakk being Ozzy's longest-serving guitarist, he just never sounded like "Ozzy" to me, and although he is really a great guitarist, I just don't care for his look, sound or playing style..for one, that little "woo-woo-woooo" thing he throws in at the end of every riff drives me nuts..just can't stand it....and the material.."No More Tears" and "Mama I'm Coming Home" just sounded like more boring cookie-cutter late 80's hair metal power ballads to me...yawn...
I'm not saying Ultimate Sin is a bad album. I'm just saying that was the point that Sharon started taking Ozzy to far commercial, and I basically lost interest.
The news that Randy died was devastating i heard it on the radio living in Miami and having tickets to the show in Miami and never being able to see him i was in shock and I was just a fan i can't imagine how Ozzy felt we would have had one more Randy recording because the contract was for 3 records speak of the devil was number 3 rushed to fulfill the commit
Randy really cared about Ozzy. You hear stories about when ozzy would always get real drunk day after day.. that it concerned Randy. And told Ozzy.. "man why do you do that to yourself? It's going to kill you!". It means he really cared for him. And it is a scary thing to watch and live with yourself. I know...
I found out that the plane they were in, was the same kind of plane that Buddy Holly died in. I'll bet anything the guy flying it wasn't familiar with that plane, because the controls of that type plane, are reverse from a regular plane.
*Ayecock* couldn't even physically fly that plane because he was high on cocaine. Besides that, both him and the plane were not certified. Did you know that he actually *STOLE* that plane? He took it up without *EVEN* bothering to *ASK* the owner if it was ok to do it!!! Were you *aware* that *Ayecock* had been in a fatal chopper crash 6 years earlier? Ozzy was a drug-addled drunk when Randy was with us and he remained a drug-addled drunk following the accident. Not sure how much could’ve changed, other than Rudy’s perception of his place in that band absent Randy, which is understandable.
It's true… You can't get a decent conversation out of Ozzy apart from when you talk about Andy and it's like you've flipped a switch and you're talking to another side of Ozzy.
Randy Rhoads Cliff Burton Dimebag Darrell The world was robbed of legendary musicians. Its good to know their music is still here after all these years. They deserve recognition.. They deserve the legacy they molded. I personally love Pantera. I say it everytime when someone says RIP Dimebag. I tell them "Dime didn't die that night. His legacy lives forever. Phil died that night. He went of the deep end and was mainlining like a maniac. Phil was never the same. Dimebag was Dimebag, even in death all he could mutter was" Van Halen" A legend in his own right. And his death brought one of the greatest bands to it's knees. RIP Phil Anselmo DIME lives forever.
I Was in high school when it happened and remember it from news because I was living in Orlando florida and was supposed to go to the show at the tangerine bowl that had to be canceled after the plane crash
I had heard Randy hated working Ozzy, and was going to quit playing professionally, and go back to school to study music. But the way Rudy, talked about him it makes me doubt it.
Randy had grown disillusioned with both Ozzy and Sharon's antics, as well as not enjoying being a "rock star." Randy was a musical purist who wanted to keep advancing his skill and knowledge of the guitar. Yes, he did want to quit and go to UCLA for a degree in classical guitar. Don't doubt that he absolutely wanted to quit Ozzy's band and return to California
@@JokersWild70 I had also heard that Randy didn't like the music that he was creating with Ozzy. Ozzy had told him to create dark music. The original sound of Randy was Quiet Riot. However, I find it hard to believe that he didn't like what he was creating. Then again, we are our worst critics sometimes. He never created an Ozzy song with less than 17 chords in it. The guy was truly a musical genius. Thanks for your comment. Peace..
@@thebluesrockers and I can't verify how accurate or true this is but from what I read Randy also had an issue with either the record company or Ozzy(?) wanting to record a live album of nothing but Sabbath songs. Something about Ozzy's ego and wanting to show people & Sabbath who had the better band at the time and Randy was said to have felt this would be like taking a step backwards. No idea if there's any truth to this or not...but...it would add even more to the reasons he'd (Randy) want to leave.
@@incarnate6779 Randy hated Sabbath music. He did play some tunes live though. Ozzy, didn't actually want to record a "Speak Of The Devil" album. He only did that because Randy died, and he didn't have any Material for an original album. Ozzy got a lawsuit after recording that. Tony Iommi owns the right's to Sabbath. Geezer Butler, wrote most of those Sabbath lyrics. The reason Ozzy recorded that album was because he was under contract to put out an album. So Sharron told him to do it. Ozzy paid Iommi and everything got hushed rather quickly.
I don't think Randy hated working with Ozzy I just think his talents and ambitions were far more in depth than just being a heavy rock music guitarist for Ozz or QR. I think Randy was a little bit put off by Ozzy's wildness and partying but I think Randy really liked Ozzy and respected him and had a lot of patience with Ozzy on his ideals and he really brought out the best in Ozzy, in Sabbath Ozzy didn't really get to articulate alot of his musical ideals, but those first to Ozzy solo records were 2 of the greatest pieces of music ever made, and I know Daisley wrote a lot of lyrics but clearly Ozzy was in top of his game in Blizzard of Ozz
Sad thing is, he didn't change. He didn't get clean or sober. He didn't suddenly become likable. Addiction is so sad. Not even death makes an addict clean up his act. It's just another excuse for addiction.
Addiction often occurs with mental illness and emotional problems. By using/drinking, an addict self-medicates and masks emotional pain. And there's also a genetic component. That said, addiction is very hard to deal with, especially in the face of grief. However, having emotional problems is a factor for addiction, not an excuse. It's treatable but only after the underlying problems are dealt with. I've seen addiction first-hand in several family members and it's heartbreaking, no doubt, but there is hope and treatment available. If you're struggling with these issues, reach out for help. It's out there and it takes a very strong person to admit that they need it.
@@tommilitello198 The fact that Ozzy continued to be an intoxicated slob, acting like a 12 year old, is hardly a secret. One of the biggest pricks in rock history. And when it comes to addicts and coping with trauma.... We all know how that one goes.
I saw the news on MTV when Randy died . I knew little of Ozzy or Black Sabbath . It was nuts . The MTV VJ made a live announcement with Ozzy . It was really weird because Ozzy looked really plastered and smiling while the VJ informed us that Randy died in a plane crash . Again really strange hes smiling while we hear some of the facts about the crash .
A sign that he was in shock. It is not uncommon to behave like that in a tragedy. It is the body defence-mechanism so weird behaviour may occur in when being on TV to keep face, being afraid to look weak (inside emotions triggers the smile). Go study psychology.
Oftentimes, Ozzy was also abusive to Randy. I remember a story of Ozzy punching Randy for listening to Black Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell" album. He also punched him when Randy told him he was thinking of quiting the band to teach music.

Rudy sarzo what a legend
What exactly makes this guy a legend? Name 1 bass line he’s ever written. Legends write great music, not just play other people’s great music. You can find great cover musicians anywhere.
This was a pretty good interview. Definitely perfessional quality. Ozzys new record is great.
If Ozzy can tour one last time he should have all of the living ex-members back. Can you imagine...Jake, Aldridge and Sarzo
When Randy Died
That weekend we were Cruzing
Colfax ave. in Denver......
Yes Radio informed us and
Only the true Fans new who he was in those days.....
Way before the actuall hair band Glam B.S.
ALLWAYS..... One of the Fathers From the Beginning of the Ripper Metal
Guitarist
Still to this day, randy Rhoades is the master, every guitar player on the planet,is impressed with his playing...
So, Sharon is the Devil's MISTRESS !
Hellyeah Vlad she is a demon is disguise.@@Plowguitarist
Rudy is a great musician. A really cool person. Such a long time ago. I saw you with Quiet Riot. But Was that you I saw in August1981 at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island with Ozzy and Randy?
God Bless you Rudy!
He changed band members like a harlot would change clients.
Soul mates/ brothers. Such a sad loss. Know how much it affected and effected ozzy. I know it punched a big hole in his spirit.
I can only imagine how far Randy’s guitar talent would have taken him?? I must say that Jake E Lee did a fantastic job filling those empty guitarist shoes for Ozzy!!! My 2 favorite Ozzy albums will always be
1. Diary of a Madman
I agree with the original comment 💯💯 Both Guitarists are Giants on the Albums they made with Ozzy🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼🎸
I'm not saying Ultimate Sin is a bad album. I'm just saying that was the point that Sharon started taking Ozzy to far commercial, and I basically lost interest.
I thought it was the albums that came AFTER that where it started going commercial..and for Ozzy material, boring...@@hanc37
Had Randy not died, where was the concert going to be played at? The Hollywood Sportatorium? Curious if you remember.
@@zoso73 it was going to be at the orange bowl in Miami with foreigner and UFO it was the Florida
@@tommygreenawalt9687 Thanks. Sorry you couldn't see RR.
@@zoso73 me too it was such a disappointment the concert still went on without Ozzy they had the pat Travers take his spot because he was local
Im pretty sure Ozzy was tore up when Randy passed. Randy is jamming in the after life.👍☦
Randy really cared about Ozzy. You hear stories about when ozzy would always get real drunk day after day.. that it concerned Randy. And told Ozzy.. "man why do you do that to yourself? It's going to kill you!". It means he really cared for him. And it is a scary thing to watch and live with yourself. I know...
He was so sweet to Ozzy ! I love that about him !
Randy’s look, the Les Paul Custom, was based on Mick Ronson. Funnily enough, there’s a picture of Kevin Dubrow with Mick Ronson, not Randy.
The deaths of *Randy* and *Rachel* was very *PREVENTABLE* and shouldn't have been *allowed* to happen!!! ~ JonseyG 👲🤬
Great interview
Most humble musical legend ever. The man drives an old Toyota Prius XW20. Heavy Metal ‘s Warren Buffett
I never knew who Ozzy was when I saw him on MTV shortly after the plane crash . He was so out of it just smiling while JJ was interviewing him .
I met Rudy a long time ago when he was doing 3-D animation. Really nice guy.
Rudy é um grande baixista.❤
I remember hearing that he died and I remember thinking ozzy was over because Randy was that amazing
Rudolfo Sarzo never change...👑salud👑!!
As much as I don't like $haron, she kept Ozzy alive, and we would have missed so much from the godfather.
So awesome! Black Sabbath! Everybody, read Geezer's autobiography! 🔥
An icon with so little released material....randy
I remember it well he died on my birthday March 19
Rudy still plays great 🎉
Rudy Sarzo = THE GOAT
They let us out of school the day randy died
Where the heck did you go to school?
Randy Rhoads
Cliff Burton
Dimebag Darrell
The world was robbed of legendary musicians.
Dimebag was Dimebag, even in death all he could mutter was" Van Halen"
A legend in his own right. And his death brought one of the greatest bands to it's knees.
RIP Phil Anselmo
DIME lives forever.
Such an impressive PM and space program
I Was in high school when it happened and remember it from news because I was living in Orlando florida and was supposed to go to the show at the tangerine bowl that had to be canceled after the plane crash
I don't give a damn about Black Sabbath Randy rhoads was the best guitarist that ever lived
I will never forget that day
I had heard Randy hated working Ozzy, and was going to quit playing professionally, and go back to school to study music.
Yes!! The ultimate sin is an album i still listen to,,bad ass guitar from Jake E lee.
No,that’s just your opinion, you weren’t there with him so you don’t have a clue about anything that went on at all
@@tommilitello198 The fact that Ozzy continued to be an intoxicated slob, acting like a 12 year old, is hardly a secret. One of the biggest pricks in rock history. And when it comes to addicts and coping with trauma.... We all know how that one goes.
Ozzy changed when that yamaha banshee got on the powerband.
IF I HAD TO PICK A BASS PLAYER FOR OUR BAND........RUDY WOULD BE THE GUY
rest in peace I🪖☦️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟❤️🔥🏥🙏
I saw the news on MTV when Randy died .
It was either *John Norris* or *Kurt Loder* doing the *MTV News* in the '80s. Man, I miss those days!!! ~ JonseyG 👲💖
I heard Randi died on Radio station 103.5 Wapp fm New York in 1982
Im Afro-American and always loved Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppiln, Iron Maiden and I just to say it was a very sad day when I heard Randy had died 😭
Ozzy´s line-up with randy was the best he ever had!!!!!!
He goes to buzz the plane, thinks he's banking and it banks right straight into the bus and hit the house.
Thanks Rudy!
Who's the high school boy interviewing Rudy 🤔
Oftentimes, Ozzy was also abusive to Randy. I remember a story of Ozzy punching Randy for listening to Black Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell" album. He also punched him when Randy told him he was thinking of quiting the band to teach music.
If you don't like Ozzy then why are you posting on here? Go post your negative comments someplace else.
Hell yhea man , ozzy is the greatest 🤘

Ya it was a fucking shit show no doubt my heart really feels for you guys.
Of course Ozzy changed after the death of Rhodes. Didn't we all? I to this day, 40 some years later have issues.
Weirdo 🤣
Are you in the process of moving, Rudy?
Sharon was Ozzy's downfall.
he became a 'wuman'
kinda
banking left i mean
Rudy is a tough interview, he has a hard time articulating thoughts.
How come every interview with Rudy he looks like he's in the middle of packing and moving
On the road again… 🎶😂
Right. Because alcohol/drugs is ALWAYS the best choice when you're mentally unstable.
