Thanks for sharing another great video, John. A lot of surprises in the 1970's top ten. Thought Aaron, Mays, Yaz or other well known besides Nolan Ryan would have made the list. I suspect only reason why so many 1971s ranked was probably the great condition the cards were in & collectors were looking to grab these as 1971 is notorious for black border issues. Mickey Mantle certainly dominated the 1960's list. Surprised Matty Alou got in. Probably condition of card. Not too many surprises regarding 1950's except as you stated no 52 Mantles made it in September.

Thanks Kevin! A lot of times these top 10 lists don’t reflect the more popular players/cards from a decade only because a copy of their card just didn’t sell high enough that month to make the list. Usually it takes a high grade copy of a card to make the list (especially for the 60s and 70s) and they don’t always come up for sale. That’s why those 71s of non-star players dominated the list this month. They were really high grade copies that not many exist at that grade.

Thanks John for putting this together. Does it surprise you that the Clemente high sale was in 2016 given that was before the boom? I am not very familiar with VCP. That said, perhaps a tutorial would make a good video?

Thanks Drew! Yes it does a little bit. Most of the record high sales that I’ve been reporting on these videos have taken place in 2021/22 due to the hobby boom. That’s a great idea for a video! Will put something together soon. 👍🏼

I guess everybody has a 1952 card 311. nothing to sell on ebay guess everybody has one. that is a very nice 1978 Ryan followed by that high action shot of Pinson , nice Concepcion ,

1. that 1951 Mantle isn't authentic authentic is the lowest grade card closets 1977 yaz with all the rubberbands around it is an authentic
this card looks like a 1.5 who graded this in correctly?
2. so looking at beauty which card do you like the best ties are very permitted?

1. A card is given an authentic grade if there are signs that the card has been trimmed or improved in some way. So you will often find cards that look to be in good condition graded Authentic, but someone has done something to the card to make it look that way.
2. 1952 Jackie.
2B. 1963 Banks.
2C. Probably the 1971 Pinson. Someone pointed out that Thurman Munson is also in the picture so that's cool.
