As I mentioned in another video, if I had to do this again, here is a tip for people installing this on your Jayco Terrain, Entegra Launch and probably the Winnebago Revel. I would buy a longer piece of fuel line for your aux heater fuel pickup tube that goes into the tank so it extends closer to the bottom of the sending unit, since you'll now have more fuel in the tank as a failsafe to keep your heater from using up all your fuel. I wish S&B would at least mention this as an option so you wouldn't have to remove your tank again to do this mod. Also for people with Sprinters without heaters, you might want to go ahead and install a fuel pickup hose for the future since you have the tank off.
How much longer does it need to be?
@srt5321 I haven't had time to drop my tank again to do that longer fuel line mod. So my deisel heater will still shut off at around 4 fuel bars from the bottom (that's around about 200+ miles left for safety with the new tank on the Entegra Launch). It's very annoying knowing you have a ton of fuel left at the camp site but your diesel gets fuel starved. I would make it long enough so it doesn't suck ALL the fuel out of the tank and leave you stranded. It's kind of your call (you'll be the guinea pig for everyone else who hasn't done it). There's a British guy on UA-cam, he lengthened his fuel pickup line on a older sprinter, but he just guesstimated. Anything better than stock is better at this point.
Does this 40gal tank hang lower than the water tank? I know the 47gal tank hangs lower than the water tank. I’m just wondering because I’m thinking about getting either the 40gal extended range tank or a 28gal auxiliary tank for a Revel. That extra fuel and less stops would be a game changer! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
