Very sophisticated percussion in stop tempo. Reminds me of Sparks.

Nice to hear a drummer with some restrained good taste. His work puts an already good song into the stratosphere --- well done.

has nothing to do with restraint on the drummers part ...just makes sense to play the beat straight forward.....in another words :the song was required of the drummer to have a strict beat ...a bunch of fills would have 100% ruined this song..

another good NTSU band from the mid 60's.... The Briks,The Jackals,The Chessmen and The Beefeaters were outstanding...and just plain talented guys.....I roomed with some of them at the Stella Street Apartments in Denton,Texas and have some fotos of a few 'parties'.....Don Henley and Richard Bowden are in some of the pics....fun times!

Do you happen to have any of those old photos of Richard Borgens? I worked with him as a scientist and still keep in touch with him but those pictures would be really great to see.

OMG-this is an awesome grarage punk song. New to me, but I love the change in pacing, the farfisa organ, and the groove. Hello awesomeness!

    • @dianelowery725

I think a Farfisa was one of several types of organs used in bands that, well, had organs. Hammond was also popular and Rhodes pianos are all readily identifiable. Farfisa organs were featured, I think, in Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs “Wooly Bully” and later, the B52s “Rock Lobster.” It definitely has a unique sound.

Another well structured record. Many years later, fine Liverpool UK band, The Coral, would record similar sounding records. With great success, i might add.

The lyrics to The Briks song Keep Down are hard for me to understand. I am not sure about the words, especially not the ones that I put in brackets. I think they might be this: "Keep working, baby, it's not late. Don't look for the things you hate. Pull up the shades, look into the light. [The world goes bright.(?)] You can't get things that haven't been said. Drink a milk, [a malt, (?)] and a bread. These things will make you see, if you haven't by now. Yes, they will. Tap, tap, tap your feet. [Work back, and pray it won't Keep you down.(?) ] Keep down, stay out of sight. It's not cool to [pay things twice.(?)] Keep Down, you make the scene, if you haven't by now. Yeah, yeah! Tap, tap Tap your feet. [Work back, you're good for me.(?)] Keep down.

These things will make you see,
If you haven't by now (Yes, they will)
    (Chorus)
    A-Tap, tap, tap your feet
Run back, and wait* for me*** [??]
    Keep down
    (Break)
    (Verse 3)
Keep down, stay out of the sight
It's not cool to paint things white????

Don't spend time looking for the 45, it was unreleased in the 60s. First issue I found is a split LP on Cicadelic (1986)
