I live in Tanza and I can tell you it is definitely the hottest place I’ve been to in Philippines. It is absolutely miserable heat in this area and trust me I’m born and raised southern louisiana I know what heat and humidity is. If you are not use to some kind of heat don’t come near this area best stay up higher where it is a little cooler or you will sit in 4 walls all day and night it don’t get better at night. As far as expats I have only seen 2 while out shopping at mall 1 American 1 Canadian I did run into a American couple up at the peoples park in Tagaytay the other day.
My Filipina wife and I just bought a house in Riviera Country Club near Silang. I love it. You’re right it’s a convenient location with great access to the skyways.
Baguio, Philippines 🇵🇭 I think this climate of this province, and close proximity to the beach towns would make this a very good option for a city to retire in. 😊
We live a little outside of Alfonso. I'm beginning to meet more American Expats here. It's also cooler here. Land prices are going up. We are also close to Lake Taal and Volcano which draws in many tourist. It's a great place to live, and very safe.
Steve I've been watching you for years now and I moved to the Philippines believing everything you say because I trust you and two other Vloggers here. You and they have been spot on. You're my indicator as far as life here and everything I hear from you is telling me I need to take a step back and prepare to bring my wife and family to the united states if we end up in a war with China. That said I'm getting married the end of May and have bought my airline tickets back to the states. Told my wife I need to file for our marriage visa when I get back. I was a firm believer of never going back to the united states but a month or 2 a year now I'm moving back in the middle of September 2023 and coming back the middle of April 2024 I want to see how things are going to shake out with the united states and the rest of the world mainly China over the next year. I'm hopeful things will settle down and I can come back and continue my 10 months in the Philippines then 2 months in the states. Good video Steve.

Just a reference, I took a bus from PITX terminal from Pasay to Trece Martires SM in March around 10am weekday. It took me 2+ hours. That's does not include getting to PITX. Coming back to MOA took just as long. But it was surprisingly cheap, about 100 Peso each way.
I want to live in the Malate area close to US Embassy and the VA Clinic. I stayed in Malate during my visit to the VA clinic to get refill for my medication in 2021. Surprisingly, the veterans are mixed of Filipino and US veterans. 60% Filipinos and 40% Americans. Otherwise fly to Guam or Hawaii where Medicare to apply.
Silang & Dasmarinas are my mother's home cities where we have lands for sale too! Bacoor is near our hometown Las Pinas! Miss it much! Thinking of going back home too!
If you consider Fil-Ams as expats, Imus, Cavite used to have a significant number of expats back in the late 70s and 80s.. Mostly retired military. Now their proginy and a the new generation has returned to Cavite full circle. There are a number quite actually active with the local ROA (Retired Activies Office).
I'm a Marine Corps veteran that was stationed at Subic Bay and I believe general Douglas MacArthur back in the day, we had a military stronghold bass on cavite? Thinking about coming back and visiting there as soon as possible to reminisce Subic Bay I do some traveling🇺🇸
Not sure how much Marine Corp history you know, My dad was a 19 year old Marine stationed with the 4th Marine Regiment in China back in 41, the Regiment was transferred to the PI in the summer on 41, he was called to his orderly room and was told to report to Corregidor to be put on MacArthur's Marine body guard there in the tunnel. He was captured in June when the Japanese landed a force and overwhelmed the island. He was put on one of the Maru's (transport ship) and sent as a POW to Japan where he was interned for the entire war at Kawasaki Camp 2B. When MacArthur was ordered to leave the PI and fled the Island in a PT boat (The only order he ever obeyed) he earned the new name "Dugout Doug" by his troops. But as we can see history has made him into a hero. My dad did not have one nice thing to say about the guy.

American corporations have been in the Philippines for long time from chip manufacturer Texas Instruments, Motorola, Intel, Union Carbide and others. It's all about maximizing the bottom line at the expense of the locals to escape regulatory issues in the US such as labor, environmental, Osha, employee benefits etc. There are pro and cons about exporting manufacturing offshore low price products for consumers back in the US. When I come back, I would consider living as far away from Metro Manila in nearby islands to avoid congestion but problem though you have to travel to Manila for good care and in my case for my appointment at the VA.
I want to live in a place with only a few American expats but mostly Filipino but, I want to live near enough to an area with a lot of expats because grocery stores in large expat areas will have the foods expats are used to. I was thinking southern Cebu so I have the choice of taking a boat to Dumaguete or, driving to Cebu city. I do the majority of my shopping once a month so making a trip for shopping would not be a huge inconvenience. Also good hospitals are a must as I want nothing to do with the public hospitals.
Trece is close to RITM (Research Institute for Tropical Medicine) in Alabang, a go-to hospital for emergencies like rabies, venoms, etc. Also Asian Hospital. RITM is the only research institute in the country that deals with infections and venoms.
I been searching to get to know Cavite . We still have 8 yrs. We are aiming for Alfonzo, above elevation, and cool air . Any suggestions around Cavite. We plan on buying land , and build our home . We live in Rizal Province. We live at a relatively high altitude, so the climate is warm but not oppressively hot or humid. Manila is convenient, maybe 1.5-2 hours away but Antipolo is a modern city with everything you need. We made the wise choice to buy property so we don't pay rent and get a decent income from our investments. China won't do anything. It's a roaring paper tiger, as Faulkner says "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing'.
Filipinos will talk but not necessarily mean they will deal. A lot of us were upset that the Chinese have basically run our fishermen out and away from their fishing grounds. The Philippines is still majorly pro American. Why else would BBM, the President allow Americans soldiers to train with Filipino soldiers. Filipinos who are anti-American are in the minority.

Electrical grid (are there a lot of brownouts like other areas of the Philippines) High speed internet, if you need to work from home? The basic speed is OK for email & web browsing but if you're working from home and need reliable, fast internet, does that exist there?

When I heard about that Philippine National SIM Card Registration Plan, someone said "It sounds like the beginnings of a Chinese Surveillance State." If you look at all the major problems and issues that need fixing in the Philippines, that would be the bottom of the list for me. There will be very little payback on that massive effort for your average Filipino. What tipped me off on whether the guy was right are the HUGE fines for not registering a stinking SIM card. You can commit homicide in the Philippines and not get such high levels of punishments or fines. So what's with that???? My neighborhood does not even have reliable garbage collection. My Filipina Fiancée was looking to apply for a government job, but the government agency's website was not working and no one could file an application for a job or schedule the Civil Service test. So she gave up. They have so many broke systems it's really amazing. How about a working and reliable Postal System? It is very difficult for new businesses to grow without a postal system. I cannot have anyone mail anything to me from the states, the box will "disappear." I have to use a private courier.

Correction: Most Manila Hospitals are usually an hour to hour and a half away in most Cavite Locations. Others are minutes away.

Power and internet are both good in Cavite due to its proximity to Metro Manila.
