    I'm just over 25 hours on my 34 inch Surfer Pro, north west coast 🇨🇦. My biggest complaint is the pad. At 6'5" and 185 lbs my knee height is right at the bolts that hold the pad on and I can feel the bolt heads through the pad. It is super painful and I debate wearing kneepads. I installed a GrassFlap chute blocker and I am unable to use it the same time as the grass catcher so that's another big negative. I am most impressed with your setup. My gas gauge is also off. I am very impressed with how it handles hills! I have many slopes and steep banks on my route and I've vastly exceeded the manufacturer's recommendation for maximum slope in every direction. When sidehilling you need to get over expecting it to track straight but you can get it to drift in straight lines with ease by keeping the throttle down and riding that thing. Feels a little like sidehilling on a snowmobile in that you are countering a downhill slip. Going up steep hills I can keep one foot on the operator platform and hop with the other and it climbs unbelievably well. I've gotten good at using an intentional wheelie at the hill's crest to avoid scalping the knoll, setting the front end down gently with the right deceleration. Whereas going downhill I would always scalp that edge before the slope. Overall I've been incredibly abusive with this thing. I've had it mired in the mud a time or two and an employee tipped it into a ditch once so I appreciate it being light enough to man handle by hand. I did have a stick take out my hydraulic drive belt once. Just so happened that there was a cogged belt in my shop that fit I am now using. Please advise if this is a bad idea. I once ran over a heavy chain that stopped the mover dead and completely severed a thick link. One blade got bent but it's been salvageable. My deck adjustment lever was also tight initially and was very difficult to get into travel position, so tight that I couldn't imagine a bump knocking it out of travel position. You have to really use your muscles to get it in and out. The pivot screw at the bottom of the handle/ lever did come loose on me while mowing. I did hear the jingle jangle of loose washers but didn't stop to check it out until the bolt fell out completely dropping my deck into the lawn and stopping me dead with an ugly scalp. The handle got a little bent at some point in the process and ever since then I've been able to get it into travel position easier although it is still tight. They sent me the wrong striping kit so I hope to try the correct one soon. The sales manager for the western Canadian dealer is a little dork and my experience with him makes me want to consider another manufacturer all together when I'm ready to buy a larger machine. Next time I'm in Edmonton I plan to show up at his location and see what kind of handshake he has in person. Somehow I don't think he will be long in his position.

      I really appreciate your comments! Sounds like you are surfing the hills with mower. I got some steep hills but as I get older, I don’t test the limits as much as I use too. Have to pull out the timemaster. If you decide to upgrade, Bradley mowers are very impressive for the price. Much more beefier than the surfer pro. A friend of mine, also a competitor in my area just bought a 36 Bradley stand on with a 25hp Briggs and 3100 hydros for $5K delivered. What a tank for a compact mower.

    Excellent video as always Bill.
    Now that we had an EXTREMLEY wet July (double the normal amount of rain) here in Maryland, how did the Hustler Surfer handle the long and wet grass from Biweekly mowing? And on say, .15 to .25 lots is the Hustler Surfer more efficient than a Toro Timemaster on how long it takes to finish a lawn?

    • @BillyGoatLawnService
      @BillyGoatLawnService  11 місяців тому +1

      We didn’t have much of a Spring rush due to dry conditions but we certainly had a Summer rush with all the rain. I plan on making a video comparing the Timemaster to the Surfer Pro and also comparing my Scag Walkbehind to the Surfer Pro. Honestly, we didn’t use the Hustler as much as I wanted and I will discuss the reasons why in the upcoming videos. Hope you’re doing well? This summer has been brutal for us keeping up with the schedule week after week since the beginning of July.

    I'm considering a Surfer Pro 34. Did you test the noise level (decibels) of this mower? Some of my new clients are sound-sensitive and I need a mower below 90 decibels. 70 to 80 decibels would be best. I'm not ready to buy a stand-on electric mower due to cost but will if an electric mower is the only type that will be sufficiently quiet. I you are aware, are there after-market mufflers or silencers that reduce noise significantly? All comments welcome. Steve, Utah

    • @BillyGoatLawnService
      @BillyGoatLawnService  7 місяців тому

      I personally don’t know what the noise level is for this mower. I’m sure it’s over 90 decibels with the Kawasaki 15HP engine at full throttle while the blades running. After market muffler may help but I don’t think it would be enough to reduce noise levels below 90 decibels.

      Appreciate the comment! The surfer pro is a nifty mower for being so compact in size. Wright mowers are definitely nice mowers. I used a 52” for a couple of years working part time for a property manager. My buddy just got the Stander B 36. He working through some cut issues. I think the deck blade level height isn’t correct. Dealer told him it was the tire pressure issue but not so sure because he still gets uneven cuts. Someone that really knows how to level a deck needs to double check everything.
