Basic games offer something different from more complex games. I think there is room for new basic games such as Pocket Pennant Run, Fast Inning Baseball, etc. APBA baseball is a fine game but, in my opinion, it takes a few too many shortcuts with team defense, baserunner based probabilities. It's a game that is still almost entirely based on a 1930s parlor game (which was WAY ahead of its time). Strat Basic is also a fine game but has some shortcuts as well like no home run modifier. We all can pick any game we want and choose any game, depends on how much detail or complexity you want in a game.
