Ordered my 109 straight from Atlantis 1.5 years ago, don’t remember any warping issues. Great nostalgia build (no M-80 for this one…😂). Stars Decals has decals for original barrel 109s that supported fire missions in Vietnam but unfortunately only in 1/35 scale.
MAX, my kit was the same way DIP THE PARTS IN BOILING WATER , SOFTENS THE PARTS , CAN SHAPE THEM THE WAY THEY SHOULD BE…. BOILING WATER GLUETROOPERS………. WORKS EVERY TIME !!!!!!!!!!! CHRIS 🇺🇸
The M-109 is looking pretty good, despite the warp problems. I missed the Saturday livestream, never could find it even after 7PM. I ended up watching another YTer's MRE&Ration livestream. I did find the Max's Models livestream Sunday, but missed all the live comments fun. 😢 Cats are weird critters. My sister's cats, all through the years, had wildly differing personalities. Only one I ever really gelled with, an orange tabby named "Football", due to a circular pattern on his sides. We were buddies. I miss him, and I'm a dedicated Dog Guy! 😢
Thanks for the vid. Surprised about the warping. I hope it is a fluke. I am waiting for Atlantis to release the Bainbridge, and hopefully no warping there. I bought their North Carolina and everything was perfect. Speaking of parts, it is amazing how a modeler's mind works. After building models for almost 60 years, it is incredible how I can find a part the size of a BB and remember what model it came from almost every time. For example the hub from an Aurora panther or the searchlight from a Revell North Carolina. I bet most modelers can do the same.
BOUGHT THAT KIT MONTHS AGO,THANK FOR HEAD-UP ON THE WARPING. HAVE CLEAR SKIES AND FAIR WINDS ON YOUR TRIPS MAX,GOD BLESS YOU AND FAMILY, GLUE TROOPERS ROCK-ON WORLD WIDE.
Nice build! I suggest you have some fun with your airbrush and go with the old, four-color NATO camouflage. Other option is the overall dark green with white stars. ARNG used this scheme into the 1980's.
I built this kit in the 1960s when I was about 8 years old. I saw this and the memory popped up - funny the things lurking in the mind. Well, a good memory is just that. Thanks!
Would some plastic card bulkheads inside the hull help ? Is that spare road wheel you found from the Universal Carrier you built recently ? Good luck with Gus.
Yeah! There's got to be a worm hole under our workbenches sending those parts somewhere. I bet all of our workbenches are connected via worm holes and that's where the parts go to...along with the missing socks in the laundry room! 😅
Hey Max, I don't understand the difficulty modellers have with rubberband/vinyl tracks. I have built hundreds of armor kits over the decades and have almost never had a problem connecting the ends by melting the pins with a hot screwdriver as per the instructions. I have 30 year old kits with the tracks still holding strong. The key is to use a very warm to hot screw driver. Do not press the hot screwdriver all the way down. Just melt the pins down until they form rivet heads. Sometimes I will reinforce the joint by sewing it together with a needle and black thread. The reinforcement is invisible unless you really look for it. The hardest part is getting the screwdriver tempurature just right. Give it a try.
I wonder...at what temperature will kits warp? Say they were stored in a garage or uncooled warehouse; will they warp if it gets over 100 degrees or 110 degrees??? Oh, and Gus took the kit parts. He told me so! LOL

This build came out well, despite the warpage. I understand the frustration with warped model parts. Hot water soaks can help.
I had the original Aurora kit. It had a large molding defect in the turret, so I contacted Aurora for a replacement part. They sent an entire new kit.
Very cool, remember building that as a kid. I’m with Fran a NATO color scheme would look sweet👍

When coming across unglue able tracks, and as odd as this may sound, I sewed them together with black thread.

Yup, and after the paint is dry, you will find the missing pieces. Or after 3 days have passed.

Really enjoyed the Godzilla episode. Great research .
I have used UV resin on bendable object which might work on the track. I'll send an Email and Pic and a description of what I do
I'll check underneath my workbench for the driver's hatch. I never know what I'm going to find down there.

I'll keep your method in mind when I build my Tamiya Chieftain.
