“We cant build a professional tour on part time players” but doesn’t pay all the players so how can they be full time players? Then “do they have to take days off work or do they just have to work different days?” Can tell he’s never worked a real job in his life and doesn’t care about the players. How can somebody who has a 9-5 job Monday to Friday just go and work different days? What different days? Ive literally been working my arse off for hours and hours every single day to go to Q school. Now i just cant because i cant leave work to not get paid. Im not the only one, so its going to stop talent coming onto the tour.. proper miffed me off this interview. Doesn’t have a clue.
Exactly this, not only are the PDC willfully preventing emerging players from making money from banning players competing in other tournaments, they are making it much harder for players to even compete in the PDC. Reality is that 90% of the players are working, its not a proffesional tour in that sense. Terrible decision making.
Wow, massive own goal on the Premier League. He talks about 'a few keyboard warriors'...I haven't met anyone who likes the current format. Clearly based that decision on ticket sales in the arenas and nothing else.
The one that makes zero sense is Holland getting a World Series event. Just take a Euro Tour event off Germany and make it a Euro Tour event. Or have more Euro Tour events and host Player's Championship events for those who didn't qualify. Obviously the prize money would be lower but it gives players a chance to compete.
How can the PDC call themselves the professional side of the game & in some events not pay anyone unless they win 1 or 2 games, I'm a professional in what I do & don't work for nothing
Woah Porter comes across as very arrogant here. The whole line about the fact that there can only be two in tandem if the PDC stays as top dog. Think I may watch a bit of the WDF one..
The number of women in the worlds if beau chooses lakeside depends on where fallon finishes in the order of merit. If Lisa overtakes fallon and beau goes to lakeside we all know the rules will be bent
Canada needs to be higher on the to do list. None of our cities may have name recognition like NY but its obvious that we are the darts capital of North America, and the further east the better. And I understand what Matt is saying with regards to the fairness of someone like Jeff being able to go back and quality for the worlds through home nation qualifiers, but the worlds should be about the best facing off against each other, and I'm not sure how much sense it makes handing out all these token spots just to make up the numbers when we know most of these players just aren't ready to play at the PDC level, let alone the biggest tournament on the calendar.
Sorry but thats a load of bollocks about the Tomlin Order. The Tomlin Order is long defunct. For example, the order states that "all players could freely participate in tournaments and exhibitions". Well pretty sure Tour Card holders are barred from any streamed event in other orgs. Bringing up the Tomlin Order is pathetic, there was no reason to make players choose and all they are doing is hurting emerging darts players from earning a living. Just a petty decision thats bad for darts.
"the order states that "all players could freely participate in tournaments and exhibitions" From what I understand, that was a statement from the BDO regarding itself and (then) the WDC. Ergo as that statement originated from the BDO side at the time of the Order, "all players" could well be synonymous with "all BDO players". I cannot find a similarly worded statement from the Order in the other direction i.e. from the WDC/PDC.
Yes it all seems rather petty arguing over a calendar. WDF are struggling for money, no way are they a threat to the PDC. I'd keep the ban on men, but not women or youth when we're supposed to be growing the sport.
@@marcus9987 UFC is an organisation within the sport of MMA. Thats a terrible example as othe MMA orgs such as Bellator and One have world championships in same divisions.

And all in one take. To those criticising, which one of his points do you disagree with and why? Cause I can’t find any. And before you hit me with the “keyboard warrior” comment with MVGs name remember he’s just one guy, he’s pissed the new schedule doesn’t work for him. Darts is bigger than one man
Pretending that nobody here justifies their point of view and then implying that MvG wants a different format because it doesn't suit him (sportingly). The truth is: he won both tournaments in the current format. The truth is: Gerwyn Price doesn't like the format either. The truth is: These are the only two players at the moment who are sure to be there in the next few years even if they say so clearly that they don't like the format ...
@@knutvoberg4236 you’re suggesting that 6 out of the 8 top players in the world won’t or will not be able to reorganise their schedules to make hundreds of thousands of pounds on a weekday instead of a weekend? Okay mate, let’s see the premier league turn out next year with only two players. Please.
People need to understand the premier league will be boring no matter what. There is nothing you can do to make it exciting and the only people that care about it will be gamblers or people at the venue. The premier league is just there to make money for the PDC which they can use for prize money for other tournaments, which I’m fine with.
My idea for the prem league. Back to an actual league format but 2 leagues. 8 each (so 16 players in total so should reduce the should be in and shouldn't be in issue). League A plays one week and League B next, so not same players every week and will allow less stress for players in terms of travel (prem then euro tour straight away isn't easy). 4 games a night first to 11, 10 all = draw. Play everyone once. Top 2 in each group qualify for semi finals. Semis and final best of 25. Sorted, don't know why the pdc don't investigate something like this.
Only 2 out of 8 in each group wouldn't work, cause some players would have no realistic chance anymore after 3 or 4 (out of just 7) games. Plus: It would be just 15 instead of 17 evenings. That will not happen with the PDC money making event (which actually make a lot of the prize money for the floor events possible).
Perhaps the pdc event shouldnt be allowed to call it a world championship if they dictate who can and cant play in it. Perhaps it should be called just the PDC championship. Leave the world word for the event that allows all qualifying members to attend and if the PDC refuses to allow their members to attend , their members should never have a title , world champion. 🌎
Yep, those key board warriors, who prefer the old premiere league format...No clue of darts, always on the internet. You know who...that van Gerwen guy and the other one...
unnecessary decision, wdf should call theirs what it is: amateur. players should be allowed to play both. bullying not the constructive way forward, however
Just dont get how people think its boring. Instead of watching everyone play one match and thats it you get to see a mini tournament and follow your player all night. If you like watching darts i dont get how at a certain point in the night you start thinking well isnt this boring. It goes on a bit yes but personally i find it better value. Plus if youre bottom of the league you will still have a good crack every week as its 10 grand for winning the night. Not like before where there would be nothing to play for so you get bad quality matches towards end of the weeks.
@@JackT-ht2pg I think a lot has to do with the dull line up last year for me, so dropping it down to 8 didn't help that. As for seeing players play twice, that is one of the problems given that most are sick of seeing the same small handfull of players over and over again which it ends up being.
Bring the World Grand Prix back to Dublin 😀👍
