    This Is literally going to suffocate the Prospects of about 100 PDC Tour card holders who were already feeling the strain of Mid Week pro tours. Clearly MR Porter only knows about 24 Players in the PDC currently.

    Please Matt have a think about this. You want darts to grow long term? You have to involve more players. How will you find the next Luke Littler or Josh Rock? This decision is harmful to every tour card holder outside the top 32. When the top 32 already had very generous benefits to begin with.
    You say you want a professional organisation with players being full time. This decision takes money out of players pockets who are trying to go full time, and it puts the money in players pockets who are already able to make a comfortable living off darts anyway.
    Just consider the impact of these changes especially regarding international players. Due to geography international players, especially Asian, American, Oceanian players are structurally at a huge disadvantage in darts. This decision just alienates them further. Why would someone from the US or Japan move to Europe and pursue a professional career when their basic earning is not guaranteed?
    Many players think they are better off without a tour card nowadays because they have more events to play in and are not restricted to 30 PC events and 13 Euro Tours a year. And you are restricting them even further because they are not going to qualify for most of the ETs.

      He’s clueless in terms of running a sport. Entertainment-wise he’s faultless but the decisions he’s making could be harmful for many players’ careers. There’s 128 fantastic players on tour but he only cares about the top 32.

    • @Ruffaloo
      @Ruffaloo 7 місяців тому

      Luke Littler went from 164th in the world to almost top 10 in the world if he'd won this final. Surely he is not the player who will struggle to get into the top 16 even with this new rule introduced... it will take something big to get into the top 16 which makes it more exciting. Fair or not. At the end of the day it's about entertainment. No dart player with serious ambitions is going to stop playing because of this rule. And if someone does, well, he would not have been you're new Luke littler or Josh rock anyway. And once you're in the top 16, you'll be happy about this new change. The system makes sense.

    • @user-vw9jz6bc6v
      @user-vw9jz6bc6v 7 місяців тому

      @@Ruffaloo The top 16 already had countless benefits. They pretty much get in every major event. This decision just widens the gap between the top 16/32 and the rest. Which is simply not good for the growth of the game. And it's not just about this one decision. Also putting all the Pro Tours midweek, again this is something that hurts amateur and semi-pro players, but not the top 32 who are full time players. You need a steady conveyor belt and support systems to keep finding the next generation of talents. Many players with potential are getting shafted by these decisions, even if they don't stop playing altogether the PDC just puts obstacles in front of most of the players. Entertainment wise, well they might sell some more tickets for Euro Tours but the events will become more stale with pretty much the same lineup all the time. And it's going to be the same 32 players at the European Championship, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, with maybe a couple different faces. This might help the PDC maximise their ticket revenue short term, but it's definitely not something that helps long term growth. Entertainment is important but it can't be the only aspect. With decision the PDC lose more on the sporting side than what they gain on the entertainment side.

    Every time this guy is in front of a camera it gets worse. Darts has been coasting for years and it’s been saved by Littler. Some of the recent decisions around pro tour and now euro tour are a joke, and everyone gets bored of the PL year on year. Bring back the original league format with 10 players, relegate 2 on Judgement Night week 9, then do the KO format for another 7 weeks. It won’t go stale then. But what do I know, I’m just a keyboard warrior 🤷‍♂️

    • @jacob4690

      Coasting for years? Saved by Littler? That’s absolutely ludicrous and you’re clearly just trying to discredit the sport as a whole just because you don’t agree with a certain decision that’s pretty pathetic

      He's not a great interviewer sadly. He has his list of questions and never deviates from them so it the interview never truly flows with push backs, tangenting off on small points etc...Seems a bit robotic. Especially with the players post match interviews at majors. Same 5/6 questions to every player, at every tournament for years.
      What he's done for the online community within darts is great. Also the frequency of the content, fallout bar/live lounges etc cannot be snuffed at. It's just the interviewing that winds me up.

    • @ChrisTravelss
      @ChrisTravelss 7 місяців тому +2

      Corporations dont admit mistakes. They just flame and discredit any opposition, sporting or not... We see it almost daily these days unfortunately.
      Porter basically saying 112 or 120 (Euros and PL) tour card holders "should win more/do better/try harder/arent good enough" is a complete kop out but exonerates them from any responsibility in their eyes. Typical BS
      That being said - I actually think they got the PL line up right tbh..... Euros is an abvious slap in the face to 85% of card holders and true darts fans.
      Wouldn surprise me if the PDC is a closed shop in 10-15 years time, somewhat akin to LIV golf - 32 of the big boys on guaranteed salaries and everyone else fighting over WDF scraps. They've never had any interest in anything other than the top players. Bazza has admitted it in interviews multiple times.

      I wouldn't normally humour this nonsensical diatribe of but seems as its 5.30am on new years eve (I live in vietnam before you call me crazy) and can't sleep, go on....
      Known about littler perhaps not as long as some people, but certainly considerably before he made his MODUS debut. Based on your intellegence and maturity level (which is pretty evident from tone alone) id say I've been playing and following darts since you were in nappies.
      Secondly- The world YOUTH champ isn't a world champ. Its a world youth champ... hence the name, YOUTH champ.
      Let me explain:
      The world championship is an OPEN EVENT
      Literally anybody on the planet can spend their £425 to go to Q school, win a card and eventually qualify for the worlds. EVERYBODY. IN. THE. WORLD. Man/woman/black/white/rhich/poor/gay/straight/16yo/70yo. Doesn't matter.
      Not everybody can quality for the YOUTH championship. Its not an open event. therefore, not a world champion.
      Do you have a problem with Keegan brown not being introduced as a world champ also? James Hubbard? Aaron Monk??
      Or is your problem just with the fella you inevitably heard about for the first time about 8 weeks ago??
      Always the people who spout shit like "do you even know anything" that have done a 2 week crash course om youtube and have no clue.
      You're the type that was a trade expert during brexit, a foreign affairs expert during the recent publicised wars, a medical expert during covid..... if you're old enough to even remember them. You lemons stand out like sore thumb.
      I stand by the opinion that this is an utterly pointless take and not even remotely relevant to anything discussed in the interview.

    • @ChrisTravelss
      @ChrisTravelss 7 місяців тому +2

      @@Truthwokephobia "the clue is in the name" then misses out THE key word in the title.
      Let me explan how the world championship works:
      It is an OPEN EVEN - OPEN. Meaning OPEN to anybody.
      Anybody on the planet (of legal working age in the UK) can pay their £425 for Q-School, gain their card and qualify for the worlds.
      16yo/70yo/man/woman/rich/poor/gay/straight/black/white. Literally anybody without discrimination. Hence OPEN event, and hence being a world champion
      Youth champion is restrictive. Not an OPEN event, therefore not a world champion.
      Out of curiosity, do you have a problem with Scott Hubbard and Aaron Monk not being introduced as world champions? Or just the kid you seemingly only heard of 8 weeks ago whilst the rest of us have been watching is WDF, JDC, MODUS etc exploits for a while now?
      I stand by the point that this is the most ridiculous take, not even remotely relevant to anything in the video. It belongs on twitter with the rest of the garbage.
