This. This pricing is predatory. A school can buy 2 x bullfrogs & 2x Korg NTS-2 for less than the cost of one of these. I feel like their trying to take advantage of the education system :(
Haha this was one of the most creative and funniest presentations of a synthesizer i've seen lately, good job Erica boys! Doge face had me rolling on the floor
You aren't the target demographic. It's more for teachers to be able to have an oversized synth that is visible to a whole room of students to make it easier to see and follow along. The price is not primarily about the few new components, it's the size of it. I could imagine teaching being very enjoyable with one XL at the front and a bunch of regular ones for students to play with hands on.
@@speed0 I can imagine a projector displaying what the teacher is doing on an og Bullfrog with 2 more out in the classroom for students to emulate. For less than the cost of this. That's the problem. This is designed to sell to government funded schools who won't do the math or thinking.
@@localhost4460 if that's the kind of learning experience that works for you more power to you. I'm not telling you you're wrong for not wanting one, I'm telling you you're wrong for saying that everyone else would be wrong for wanting one. Plenty of educators would love an oversized, simple synth that they can physically twist the knobs of in plain view of a class of students and would be willing to pay for that upsizing.
that thing is huge. they should sell that captured model. and I sent you guys a vid to your product support a few months ago, saying that you should combine the Perkons and the Syntrx into one unit, but I forgot to mention that it also needs the sampling thing you have in this, and make the samples storable, and also so you can connect a line or mic to it. just make it. I'll sell all my stuff, except Erica stuff, to get the ultimate Perktrx Mark 666. I have the entire design ready if you guys want to see my version . and ya, I'm a crazy synth guy. just make it. and also make the martrix 32 x 32. just add all the things missing from Syntrx , like individual CV control of all the parts that don't have CV control. I'll come over and work like slave building them just to get on.
Love the work you're doing and the creativity that you have in your products. It is really inspiring to have one of your synths and the fact that you're pushing these learning synths is something to really admire. I have seen the bullfrog XL online though I couldn't find much about it and yes I thought It was smaller, like Richie 🤣
Love Erica Synths, but this is an extremely poor design for teaching. Almost laughably. Such a missed opportunity. Inflated price for features that actively work against being able to use this for education. Were any actual teachers consulted?
Agreed. As a teacher, I use TAL NoiseMaker + an oscilloscope in Reaper to explain subtractive synthesis. I can project these on a big screen to teach a lot of students at the same time, and all the tools I show are free to use, so students can experiment with them as much as they like.
Congratulations with the achievement of a synth that can emulate exactly the sounds of a brunting black angus bull in heat riding on a 125cc Vespa threewheeled scooter at 51.2 Kilometers per hour. Or to quote my favorite actor Borat Sagdiyev: Very nice!
"Desgined specificall for teachers" but presented like it's the general synth audience that is going to buy them. I would get a vintage ms20(used for similar purpose ), cheaper , iconic and will always retain value.
Erica Synths, bruh. I don't of a single teacher that could afford this, let alone get the school board to purchase one. Same with the original Bullfrog. These are too far out of reach, especially with the current lack of proper funding. The money for these things would be better used in just making sure that the kids have food and supplies. Unless, of course, it was a private school. Y'all gotta try again. Or, just court the private schools of the world.
Great idea but terrible execution. Played with it at Superbooth and it was not fun at all. There are hidden normalized connections which are confusing and make in useless as a fun exploratory device. It feels more like learning to programming a calculator.
Can you guys let me have the one you thrashed around in the mud and muck I can't afford one and would love to use it to teach my 5 year old synthesis I would happily Film our classes for promo for you thanks
Great video! Combine with a few smaller Bullfrogs and you could teach a fun class in basic synthesis by allowing the students to play with the smaller ones after they watch a presentation on the XL.
Erica Synth, please never change
but 1700??? Thats only for rich private schools
There are Country like Germany where the country is paying for schools

Like the old Korg instructor machines. Fabulous, love you guys, keep doing what you do!
OMG~ what a big Wild synthesizer!
Build in Speakers ? ..ffs ..LOL

Big I realized it was so

I love you guys... €500 -> €1,700 ... for a screen, attuneverter, and slew? Do you really think that's okay?
@_itattracts as someone who has purchased more that $4K of Erica synth gear: this price gauge has put me off. That's all I'm saying.

You missed “April Fools” by over 30 day…
Doggo intermission was a good palette cleanser in between topics.
Not even 1 minute in and it made me lol. Great video!

Cant understand why you used white colour when erica are known for using glossy black.
It's been about 6 years. When will we get the majestic Black system 4?

Love LOVE Love Erica Synths❤
Ahahahah amazing tube...my man
That was fun : ))
The bullfrog got chonky!
Reminds me of the giant ms 20 teachers used in synthesis classes. Very cool.
..no; I don't have room for another synth in my classroom, comments?
Genius! Alfred and Stein would be proud of you!
For that price you could at least make it sound good too
