4:41 Im an auto shop owner. I started out renting from a guy who ran a shop for years prior. He told me like this. Your not selling parts. Your selling repairs. Dont worry about how much parts are just do the best repair you can. When you use cheap part and it breaks they are going to tell the story "Fast Eddie fixed it and its broke" when the truth is "Fast Eddie fixed it with the cheap part and the part is junk"
I always hated shops to Mark Up the price of parts to make a profit from those parts! The shop did not have a warehouse full of parts, they just buy from the parts houses. They should charge me the same as it costs them.
@@debluetailfly they have to do that... there is a parts guy that is paid to look up, order, organize those parts and looking up certain parts can literally take hours mark up on parts pays for that position along with covering some of the time of the techs if they receive a faulty part since the parts manufacturer might warranty the part they will not pay for the techs labor.
Well then bud you can go to the part store and buy the part and install it yourself then. THere is a lot more that goes into it than "garage ripping people off" It is all part of the total cost of the repair. If you knew what part to buy and you had the tools and knowledge to install them you would be doing it yourself. It takes time to even just look the part up let alone ordering it.
@@eddiereichel9354 Well Budd!!!! That is exactly what I do. I have only known 2 mechanics in my entire life I could trust to do anything right, and neither charged extra for parts. Other mechanics screwed things up more than they helped, so I HAD to learn to do for myself. The reason I quit using the 2 good mechanics is because they both passed away. I typically order parts online rather than fool around with parts stores. One put a Power Brute rear end in a differential, didn't set it up properly, then refused to fix it when it broke and left me stranded. Another did a valve job; that engine never ran right afterward. Another took three times to properly tension a new timing belt, and broke the cover on top of that! Tried to tell me the hole in it wouldn't hurt anything.

Yes, I would love to replace multiple cylinders at once. But I'm an in-house mechanic. We have 10 forklifts and the owner will only replace what is bad now, not what my leak in a month. But then again I need to stay busy to get my 40hrs

I have a Hyster S40XL it has the same two lift cylinders as yours it also has a middle lift cylinder. The left side lift is leaking so want to remove both side cylinders and have them re-packed. My question is do I remove them just like you did and do I need caps so the hydraulic lines don't leak while its apart. I really appreciate you wisdom and help thank so much

I got an old hyster 50 that wont go in to reverse forward only spent the day testing its got voltage and moved the solenoids around and still forward only,at home no and doing some research lead me to a question, well the hyster 50 not change gear,if the micro switch is faulty or not engaged ?

You do know you didn’t have to pull the cylinders right? They are displacement style cylinders so the end gland cap is the most only pressure seal. The piston has no seal, only a wiper.
Where did you get the seal kit for the Gland Nut?
