Take it from a rabid A's fan that this movie nailed the feeling at that time when Billy Beane started all the new things he did, it was not widely accepted in the Bay Area. I remember when those three were traded, especially Giambi to New York?!?!?! We were really unhappy about that trade. But that's baseball, it's more about numbers than people. Rock on Billy!
My favorite baseball movie of all-time since I'm a statgeek! Personalities and empathy for players by GMs do sometimes gets lost within the sabermetics of baseball. Like the turmoil of Venezuela affecting Venezuelan MLB players like Miggy & Yadira who have to pay thousands of dollars of security of their families; also Hurricane Maria hammering one of baseball's brightest powerhouse, Puerto Rico :(((
yeah i know jeremy was, chimptor50 was saying that those three meaning the ones that left due to free agency. Since he specifically said "Giambi to New York?!?!?!"
they werent traded, they were free agents and were able to sign with which ever team they wanted to. If they were traded, Oakland would have got something in return.
@1MinuteFlipDoc I know you left this comment a while ago but I just watched the movie and I'm curious why you'd think that. Seemed like a pretty human and well rounded character that Brad Pitt played...
clearly don't understand the current situation in baseball or this movie. It's much harder for teams like the A's just to be competitive than for teams like the Yankees to win the world series...though they can't seem to even get there with a 250 million dollar payroll. Most teams would be crushed by the Arod contract...but if you own the BILLION dollar cable network that broadcasts your game and can charge insane amounts for tickets....they can shrug it off.
@Arik1989 Search youtube for interviews with the real Billy Beane. B.B. is much more of a polished CEO type, than an ex-jock guy who trips into the world of statistics.
" Moneyball " is arguably the best baseball movie ever made. I think so.
No doubt
The fan
Um. Major League
I love baseball movies and this one is now one of my favorites. Great job Pitt and especially Hill.
Brad Pitt, as an actor, nothing short of amazing
We both got man crushes on him. Nothing to be ashamed of 😂
Moneyball was one of the best books on sports I'd ever read.
good call, you are right. I completely missed that "New York" part.

Giambi left as free agent. He was never traded

i liked the movie alot..
rare case in hollywood movies where the actor is pretty much the same age as the person he is portraying irl.
Best sports film ever.
I think the B.Pitt's version of B.Beane is a purely fictional representation of who B.Beane is and how he acts.

Can anyone explain the "leaving the country" joke? I know this video is from forever ago - I'll take a response when/if anyone sees this.
i really enjoyed the flick!!
Is Billy Beane the guy narrating abt “confidence” jeez that’s amazing

Billy Beane is a big guy. No wonder he was highly regarded by scouts
Interesting to see how Brad Pitt will play Billy Beane.

Art Howe is a big baby! It's clear that billy bean takes a lot of gambles but he stands behind them.
Did you see how relieved Brad Pitt looked at the end of that interview? He looked like he wanted to run out of there.
I did he looked like yes 1 more stupid interview down before i dont have to ever talk to this dorkuss malorkuss billy beane ever again.
Beane does not seem like the guy in the movie
Oh, I do understand and the A'z & BB will always come up short.
Not even SJ will help 'em.
How many times have Biily's teams won the series?

Brad has a cold.

Is that kurt cobain?
Art Howe has got to hate this movie. He looks like a fool…….or he could turn it around and say he was responsible for the success.
BILLY BEAN HAS A BOYFRIEND HIS NAME IS SHEAN HES VERY MEAN
Brad Pitt looks like a shrimp.
Moneyball doesn't work Oakland loses every year zero championships
Silly.
Yeah, its doing terrible for Liverpool...

@@patriotsman6511 With the same principles... Liverpools owners are also John Henry, who use it at Red sox...
