Wow, you were one shot during the Duncan Burke battle. One more hit to you CT, and you would have died. There is actually a hidden repair bay in that swamp map near the top and to the left.
One of my favorite weird loadouts: Bushwacker with a clan gauss rifle and clan LBX AC 10 I forget exactly how much extra ammo you can carry, but it's a good light/medium mech ambush loadout. Go straight at them, hit them in the center torso with the gauss rifle, then finish them off with a blast from the LBX at point-blank range.
I hated Karl after this. Ian may have chosen the armory, but his first concern after learning about the ambush was Johanna. He was under a lot of pressure at this point and made the wrong call, but he didn't deserve to be abandoned by Karl. He stood by his young duke as Ian refused to leave Hadra for the sake of the prisoners, and he supported Ian's decision to divert from Jeteel to Vale in order to save a small swamp town from bombardment. All of this testifies to Ian's good character, but his one decision to capture the armory was apparently enough for Karl to desert him.
It honestly ended up being the right move, Ian proved in the blackknight expansion that this not only was the cannon ending, but it lead to Ian absolutely going power mad.
It would definitely be more interesting for the character you play as to become the thing he fought against only for a new main character to destroy him. At least imo more interesting than just propaganda or alternative timeline sort of thing. I guess in the end it doesn't matter though since they never followed either up. Lol
LOL! Casey Nolan told it like it is! "Doesn't look like Lord Roland is very happy about losing his own Bombers. His orders were serious also, Ian. It's seems if Roland doesn't get you he'll still use someone else. Either way between those 2, "That's the Pig that Killed the Colonel." Casey Nolan was right about that. Still a hilarious way to say it. If I was on Ian's team, I probably wouldn't get through one day without Casey making me laugh. Well, what can I say? Even in a War it's a blessing to have someone on the team who has one Crazy sense of Humor!
I gotta ask, on the second run of the final mission after saving the sister, why in the heck did you give Jen an Osiris? Just looking over the mech roster you had that point there were load of heavy mechs available.
Hi, thanks for checking out these videos. I put some of my thoughts into description of the first part if you're interested. That was the second time I had to play the final mission to show the alternative ending. At first I thought not to record the second play at all, but instead "I switch to recruit difficulty before replaying the last mission. This was done to show how weak lancemate loadouts and rushing head-on with only close range weapons makes even the easiest difficulty mode challenging".
Ian : "So it was decided? They wanted you to be the Duchess. Your Grace!" Johanna : "Ian. Arise, and give your little sister a hug." Awwww. Man that was cool! I wish the Royal Family of Britain was more this way. Johanna Jresari and Ian Jresari's family were very good people. Even if they were rich. They cared more for their family and the people. All National Leaders should be like this.
In the official lore main story Ian actually chooses the armory and his sister dies. Ian goes on to become a piece of crap leader and you kill him in the sequel to this game.
@@Axhole11 I don't dislike the Black Knights, but I prefer the idea of Ian saving his sister. Besides, that way the playes does not destroy everything what he fighted for in the previous campaign. Even though it looks like that's what was intended
Yeah, definitely hardest of the campaign. Took me something like 30 tries, lol :D On easier difficulty you should get Daishi before that mission so it becomes a bit easier.
@@einokeino303 I've beaten when I was younger, maybe I just got lucky or I was running dishonorable. But the real way around on the hard difficulty really leaves a huge challenge standing in the way of the rest of the game. Still haven't rebeaten it yet, I get irritated after a few tries. But I try to pack burst damage as much as possible. Lbx/ppc gotten through almost all of it, stragglers would take me out, or a tank would at the very end of the mission if I got that far.

einokeino303 it's no problem. The Battletech Universe is pretty cool though, isn't it? Though I just wish I could learn more about their Universe. Even if you say you're oblivious to the Lore of Battletech. Who would need the complex knowledge of the history when they Know what many of the Weapons Systems in the cockpit are Capable of, whatever difficulties they'd cause for your Mech, and using the Strategy I've seen you using "In Game". I believe knowledge of being in a Zone where there's a fierce Mech Battle happening out ranks all the historical knowledge.
Yeah, who doesn't like huge mechs blowing stuff up? :) Not sure why BT never got to be as popular as WH40K for example. I know a lot more about that, mostly because one of my friends played the tabletop and likes to talk about it. I've been rather lazy reader of fiction these days, but I'm always interested in good games :) IDK, maybe we get a bit more lore with the new MW game. Let's hope it's going to have an interesting campaign.
@@einokeino303 I was at the Battletech Wiki you spoke of, studying the Vehicles and Mechs they used. Now I'm planning to build my own DIY. Small Models. One was an Ajax Tank with several weapon racks on it. Another was a Hellbringer (Loki). They said to their Command Center that it appeared to be a Cross between the Catapult Mech, and some other Mech. It really is teaching me more than I thought it could. Not just All the Mechs and Assault Tanks are spoken of there... Special Salvage Exoskeletons people can wear over their Work Clothes in the Hangars and Armories are also used. “Mad Cat” is the Inner Sphere designation for the Timber Wolf. This is because the first IS ‘Mech to encounter a Timber Wolf couldn’t properly identify it, so its computer kept switching between the IDs for the Marauder and Catapult BattleMechs, which were ‘MAD’ and ‘CAT’. Hence, ‘MAD CAT’.
Johanna Jresari was exactly right... "Towns aren't buildings and roads, they're people". By the time you reach Duncan Burke, it's far enough into the campaign that both your use of maneuver and firing accuracy should be far more developed. Burke is a loud-mouthed chump of an opponent. Barring any software or control peripherals operations issues, you should be able to bury him with less than half the damage incurred here.
Agreed, Burke was an absolute push over. It also drives me up a way on how they never place weapons in proper groups based on range. Mission 3 made me want to tear my hair out, firing the lasers and UAC5 well outside their range

And he still takes back the Palace even without the equipment they went to recover at that Military Armory in the city earlier in the game.
einokeino303 I've been wondering... Have you ever used any Bombast Lasers on the Enemies in the Game, and if so was it able to destroy an Enemy Mech, quickly? Just wondering, because I played the first SNES Mechwarrior Game with "in cockpit perspective" and there were very little weapon types available in the Mech Complex. They hadn't created Bombast Lasers, or Gauss Cannons during that time just yet.
Haven't tried it much. It might be decent if used properly, but it does generate lots of heat and screws up with using other weapons, because it needs to be charged manually to be effective. That's why I like to go with PPCs or large lasers instead.
In one of the city missions, FASA Interactive is a destructible building and it is considered as an enemy on your IFF. It's a cool easter egg.
Thanks for posting. I had forgotten how great this game was. MechWarrior4: Mercenaries will still be my favorite though.
Watching you set all your weapons to one group made me nauseous.
@Konkar Badger Still. Its especially infuriating for me, knowing how hot it makes his mechs become.
